I honestly don’t think he was trying to shade James Charles. Unless you’re a kid or new to the makeup industry, I don’t think most people consider Morphe to be a high end brand, and it’s obvious the quality is lower. The location at which they’re placed in Ulta is a dead giveaway, as well as the price. I think the stuff about Too Faced was wayyyyy shadier because they’re a competitor that exists in the same quality and price bracket.
@@jaz1756 I live in the US and have never heard of Mecca although different regions of the country have different stores. Only beauty stores I know of are Sephora, Ulta, and individual brand stores 🤷♀️

I think it could also be straight up embarrassment. I get what you’re saying about Shane overdoing the self deprecating humor but I feel like he actually views himself as fat and gross sometimes and he gets uncomfortable in his own skin so making jokes about it is how he deals with it. I could be wrong but with all the body transformations he’s gone through over the years, he has talked a lot about how he really just doesn’t like his body and never feels attractive. I feel what you're saying about Shane's self-deprecating humour too. Lately, it's hitting different, not because it's getting old, but because we know him more than we used to. There are funny jokes and then there are deep seated insecurities that we mask with humour, which can be really transparent. It's like it hits a little too close to home, because we know of his struggles with anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia. I love Shane, I hope he can see in himself what we all love and see in him.

I agree and can relate a lot. It might be hard for people who never truly experienced that. I gained a lot of weight in the past 2 years and even though its not super dramatic, like before I was skinny and now I am slightly overweight but to other people I think I look just normal weight and still "slim" at least that's what people tell me. But I don't really know what I truly look like, because I feel like I can't trust the mirror. I can't really believe when people tell me I look fine, I just assume they're being nice to me. Anyway, I have dealt with body dysmorphia my whole life and I cannot tell you how uncomfortable I am in my skin, to the point that I hate spending money on clothes, even though I don't fit in anything anymore. I just wear the same 2-3 pairs of pants and always ugly, oversize shirts because I feel like I don't deserve "better" and also I don't want to accept my new size and constantly tell my self "oh, I don't want to spend, because I will lose the weight and then it will be a sunk cost." I feel like that's why Shane always wears dirty, torn clothes. And to anyone who wants to say "if you feel so uncomfortable in your skin, you should do something about it" (i.e. lose weight) I say F*ck you. As if I wouldn't already have, if it were that easy. I've been trying to lose it since I first noticed when I started gaining weight and it all actually started with losing some weight at first, but it spiraled into a cycle of losing, relapsing, gaining it back and some, losing again relapsing, aging it all back and some. It made me depressed and hate myself, feel worthless and like I can't do anything in life, like I'm incapable of the most basic thing, Like I can't finish and follow through a damn thing in my life (and that comes from a person who's the first in their family to get a master's and that one of the best universities in my country with a great gpa but somehow this weight gain makes me not see any of my accomplishments (which I feel like its happening. with Shane too). Like people look at me and judge me and think "why does she not just eat a bit less and work out, its not that deep". It's just more than that, it's psychological. I'm self sabotaging and I'm sure Shane is too. He's lost so much weight in the past he knows HOW to do it but he still struggles, so yeah its just not always that easy. I have gained almost 40 pounds and even though I'm perfectly healthy at my weight "just a little much" as my doctor said, I feel gross. So yeah, someone who sees my might feel like this whole speech is so over dramatic and maybe it is but problems are subjective and relative and if it pains me, its not up to you to judge. When the Jaclyn Hill thing happened with the lipsticks, I saw a research that a youtuber called "Without a crystal ball" did where she shows that lipsticks cost like $1-2 to make -which explains why some stores sell $1 lipsticks. Also the youtuber showed that Morphe is a "cheap" brand , they make their stuff in China, you're just paying for the brand's name.
when stores sell $1 lippies, it means they made it for less. or was a clearance sale. i know korean beauty brands sell sheet masks for $0.5-$1 and they are actually generating loss but at the same time they generate other kind of profit - people who liked your $0.75 mask might buy $15 face cream. its a promotion thing

Yes, as someone who was bullied since kindergarten all the way through high school, my self esteem was lower than low and it still is. I don’t understand ppl that think that you can just get over the internal perception that you can have if your self just because ppl around you tell you it’s not true. If making lite of his body helps him in anyway then that is fine. At the end of the day the only person that should be allowed to make those kinds of jokes about yourself is yourself
Then it wouldn't be humor, it would just be him making self-deprecating statements. If that's his way of coping, that's fine it's not for me to judge. I just don't see the point in editing those moments and adding them into *every single video he's ever made*. At some point, the audience stops seeing it as a vulnerable moment and starts seeing it as a running gag that becomes disingenuous.

I don't think the comparison between Shane and Pewdiepie is that accurate. Shane gets more views per video, but he also uploads so rarely, compared to pewds who uploads everyday, and gets around 10 mil per video. Add in all his merch sales, sponsorships, and games profits, I think he comes off on top. Still, both of them are doing extremely well.
I love this series, I thought it was gonna be all about Jeffree and biased towards him but it's actually very informative. I feel the internet needed to know what happens in the beauty industry and this series is totally uncovering that.
I disagree tbh I think that Jeffree's sense of humour is very one note, he says "hi, how are ya?" to literally everything. I did know that mark ups in the makeup industry are high, Marlena revealed in a video about all the crap in the beauty industry that to create her carboard palette packaging it cost $3 and she sold them for $12. Plus, the fact that a new brand launches pretty much everyday highlights that there is a lot of money to be made in the beauty industry, I too am interested to see if this openness results in any backlash. I am reluctant to take Jeffree's word for what it is because he is hardly going to say anything that would paint him in a bad light so I would like to have seen actual documents rather than just his calculations and word, but that's just me, I am a cynical soul. I also recall that James Charles video where he showed the mean text Jeffree sent him he stated that he didn't want to continue a business relationship with Jeffree Star. Final point, the Manny shade to me was just sad. I know they aren't friends but Manny never talks about him and regardless of what transpired Manny was still the first collaboration with JSC so to constantly put someone down is just overkill to me. Jeffree is clearly doing really well so I wish he could focus on this. I wish Shane had dived deeper into how much he had been screwed over, it is really unfair that they speak so openly about Nikkie's situation which she cannot legally divulge but won't reveal the details of their own business screw overs.
Shane has GAD and self image issues. The body shame thing while played as a joke is probably very real. He has had an eating disorder. The breakdown in the bathroom made me choked up. That is a guy who just realized that he has been screwed over and that he is worth so much more. He probably will revert back but the first chip has been made. I'm actually really looking forward to seeing Shane's evolution into loving himself and realizing his worth.

Isaiah Williams Agreed. I watched his video on the James Charles drama and Jeffrey’s part in it only recently, and now I’m watching one person forgetting about it in real time. Watching this really drives home the point, that if someone is considered entertaining or „iconic” (whatever that means), a lot of viewers simply stop caring about all the shitty things that person has done. I guess that’s exactly what Jeffrey Star was hoping would happen.
At the same time, people are not one dimensional. You don’t have to agree or disagree with everything a person says or does. All people have value. Not saying you have to suppport him but at the same time other people have the right to support him if they want, you know what I mean? I don’t agree with a lot that Jeffree does but I do think he has the potential for change and I like supporting his growth and I think his friendship with Shane is a huge reason why he’s evolving from past toxic behaviour. Maybe that’s just me though, just wanted to give you another perspective.

I just wear the same 2-3 pairs of pants and always ugly, oversize shirts because I feel like I don't deserve "better" and also I don't want to accept my new size and constantly tell my self "oh, I don't want to spend, because I will lose the weight and then it will be a sunk cost." I feel like that's why Shane always wears dirty, torn clothes. And to anyone who wants to say "if you feel so uncomfortable in your skin, you should do something about it" (i.e. lose weight) I say F*ck you. As if I wouldn't already have, if it were that easy. I've been trying to lose it since I first noticed when I started gaining weight and it all actually started with losing some weight at first, but it spiraled into a cycle of losing, relapsing, gaining it back and some, losing again relapsing, aging it all back and some. It made me depressed and hate myself, feel worthless and like I can't do anything in life, like I'm incapable of the most basic thing, Like I can't finish and follow through a damn thing in my life (and that comes from a person who's the first in their family to get a master's and that one of the best universities in my country with a great gpa but somehow this weight gain makes me not see any of my accomplishments (which I feel like its happening. with Shane too). Like people look at me and judge me and think "why does she not just eat a bit less and work out, its not that deep". It's just more than that, it's psychological. I'm self sabotaging and I'm sure Shane is too. He's lost so much weight in the past he knows HOW to do it but he still struggles, so yeah its just not always that easy. I have gained almost 40 pounds and even though I'm perfectly healthy at my weight "just a little much" as my doctor said, I feel gross. So yeah, someone who sees my might feel like this whole speech is so over dramatic and maybe it is but problems are subjective and relative and if it pains me, its not up to you to judge. When the Jaclyn Hill thing happened with the lipsticks, I saw a research that a youtuber called "Without a crystal ball" did where she shows that lipsticks cost like $1-2 to make -which explains why some stores sell $1 lipsticks. Also the youtuber showed that Morphe is a "cheap" brand , they make their stuff in China, you're just paying for the brand's name.
when stores sell $1 lippies, it means they made it for less. or was a clearance sale. i know korean beauty brands sell sheet masks for $0.5-$1 and they are actually generating loss but at the same time they generate other kind of profit - people who liked your $0.75 mask might buy $15 face cream. its a promotion thing

that was a serious conversation where jeffree was teaching shane about the beauty world. and yeah, jeffree can shade a lot and we see him do it plenty of times in this video, but if we take everything he says as shade or an attack to someone else, we won’t listen what he’s truly meaning to say.

I don’t understand ppl that think that you can just get over the internal perception that you can have if your self just because ppl around you tell you it’s not true. Then it wouldn't be humor, it would just be him making self-deprecating statements. If that's his way of coping, that's fine it's not for me to judge. I just don't see the point in editing those moments and adding them into *every single video he's ever made*. I don't think the comparison between Shane and Pewdiepie is that accurate. Shane gets more views per video, but he also uploads so rarely, compared to pewds who uploads everyday, and gets around 10 mil per video. Add in all his merch sales, sponsorships, and games profits, I think he comes off on top. Still, both of them are doing extremely well.

I love this series, I thought it was gonna be all about Jeffree and biased towards him but it's actually very informative. I feel the internet needed to know what happens in the beauty industry and this series is totally uncovering that.
I disagree tbh I think that Jeffree's sense of humour is very one note, he says "hi, how are ya?" to literally everything. I did know that mark ups in the makeup industry are high, Marlena revealed in a video about all the crap in the beauty industry that to create her carboard palette packaging it cost $3 and she sold them for $12. Plus, the fact that a new brand launches pretty much everyday highlights that there is a lot of money to be made in the beauty industry, I too am interested to see if this openness results in any backlash.
I am reluctant to take Jeffree's word for what it is because he is hardly going to say anything that would paint him in a bad light so I would like to have seen actual documents rather than just his calculations and word, but that's just me, I am a cynical soul. I also recall that James Charles video where he showed the mean text Jeffree sent him he stated that he didn't want to continue a business relationship with Jeffree Star.
Final point, the Manny shade to me was just sad. I know they aren't friends but Manny never talks about him and regardless of what transpired Manny was still the first collaboration with JSC so to constantly put someone down is just overkill to me. Jeffree is clearly doing really well so I wish he could focus on this. I wish Shane had dived deeper into how much he had been screwed over, it is really unfair that they speak so openly about Nikkie's situation which she cannot legally divulge but won't reveal the details of their own business screw overs.

Shane has GAD and self image issues. The body shame thing while played as a joke is probably very real. He has had an eating disorder. The breakdown in the bathroom made me choked up. That is a guy who just realized that he has been screwed over and that he is worth so much more. He probably will revert back but the first chip has been made. I'm actually really looking forward to seeing Shane's evolution into loving himself and realizing his worth.

Agreed. I watched his video on the James Charles drama and Jeffrey’s part in it only recently, and now I’m watching one person forgetting about it in real time. Watching this really drives home the point, that if someone is considered entertaining or „iconic” (whatever that means), a lot of viewers simply stop caring about all the shitty things that person has done. I guess that’s exactly what Jeffrey Star was hoping would happen.
