Fun fact: the Giants jerseys you spoke of were replaced by what they wear today, which is also the original throwback, because the then throwback was so popular when they introduced it in the 1990’s that management moved back to their original look. Same thing would later happen with the Jets (though they have sense changed back to their 80’s look), 49ers and (kind of) the Bills.

The one thing on the Bengals original is the history behind it. Mr Brown was removed from the team he made in Cleveland so the one thing he wasn’t going to let them take was the uniforms he designed when he created the Browns and got removed then made the Bengals. If I got removed from a team I created and the uniform design was my own and original I wouldn’t let someone else keep me from continuing to use it either.
Ironically enough I do own a throwback Barry jersey and lemme tell ya that thing is never seeing the street it’s that nice

1969 was the best Vikings team and the best Vikings uniform ever.
I was worried from the start that the Bucs would get D or at the most C-Tier. Yet, seeing them as one of your "Mount Rushmore" throwbacks brings a smile to my face! So much pain and history behind that color combination . . . but the Buccaneers have had some bright spots in their history . . . especially in 1979 when the Bucs won the Central Division and were only one game away from the Super Bowl.

Younger people don't seem to understand that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers "Creamsicle" uniforms were ridiculed and considered the worst uniforms in NFL history up until just recently. I remember when they redesigned them in 1997 everyone breathed a sigh of relief that those ugly uniforms were gone. So I find it humorous that fans now think they were so great.

haha yeah I might have been a little harsh on the Pats because I lived in New England as a non Patriots fan during their dynasty. I definitely gave a lot of credit to the Oilers because of the 'defunct' aspect to it.
Bills fan since the late 80's and their uni's were always excellent.. except for the early 2000's era.. ugh. I grew up with your choice of uniforms as their best throwback but I actually love the Standing Buffalo, AFL look the most, even though it was just before "my time". Their current uni's are excellent, but man I'm STILL waiting for them to bring back the red helmets!

In 2017 I hatched up an idea for the nfl to have an NFL 100 2019 celebration where all teams would be encouraged to wear throwback unis. I came up with the home and away for all teams and I got a little creative with it as there was a vintage and a throwback vintage would be 70s and before and throwback was 80s-90s and early 2000s. Some of it was prob a bit too ambitious as some mock uniforms were made and unused uniforms like the concept Jaguars uniforms were used as well but I think each team would have to pick a home and away combo and also for it to look right you’d have to pair the teams up with similar era uniforms. I’m all for throwback Thursday though
I wish you would stop referring to the Washington Redskins as a slur. Multiple native Americans have come out stating that the name Redskins was a a title for an elite warrior that they would go into battle with red war paint which their enemies referred to them as Redskins and it was then turned into a a derogatory term. Also the logo was made and designed after a real Native American chief who was well respected. I can tell no Washington fan ever felt any kid of racism or intended to be racist towards native Americans. Cancel culture really is a plague in our culture and society
Dude, I agree with every point you made, I would love for them to go back to being the Washington Redskins, I called it a 'slur' because that is their reasoning for the change. I think intent is the most overlooked aspect of language. No one names their team after something they hate.

The best Raiders throwbacks are the 1963 White Jerseys w/Silver numbers, Silver pants, & White Shield logo on the helmet. I’d honestly put them at B tier.

@@RobElderton it used the jersey, yes, but the pants were white with a silver stripe, and it used the regular helmet. The Raiders wore them back in 09 for the AFL 50th anniversary

I'm a Titans fan from Texas that grew up an oilers fan. The Oilers are part of that franchise and not the Texans. I know that pisses off Houston fans, but the Oilers would have stayed in Houston if the would have gotten a new stadium built.

Not technically a related franchise but the commanders took over in Boston after the maroons folded
Paul Brown made the Bengels jerseys that way deliberatly he wanted to look as much like the orginal team he founded.
Maybe you know this, but that somebody in the Titans' war room wearing an Oilers hat is controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, daughter of the man who founded the Oilers franchise in 1960, Bud Adams. If the Oilers name and branding means anything to anyone, it's the Adams family. But to Portnoy, she's simply "Titans staff" lol
Also, the Oilers name means alot to alot of people in Tennessee, not just Houston. '97 was a big year. The Oilers opened play in Memphis, and the expansion Predators NHL team started play as well. These were the first two professional franchises in the state. I love that they played as the Oilers and kind of wish they still did.

Just look how the seahawk is used to wrap nearly all the way around the helmet and how it's striped across the shoulder. It's too good and can't be denied

The Cardinals best Throwback jerseys are the late 80s white phoenix cardinals jersey with both the bird and state flag.

...The Cleveland Browns must have the orange pants, the Washington team must wear gold or maroon pants, and the Buccaneers must wear the original uniforms.

The Browns spent their best years in the all-white, classically understated. They wore the white as the home uniform through the 1960s, including the '64 championship year, and during the mid-1980s of the Kosar years. In the 60s other teams would choose to wear white at home to "jinx" the Browns. The Cowboy's "blue jersey jinx" was started with losses in Cleveland. Kind of a shame because the royal blue may have been their best jersey ever.
I’m not sure how to feel about the Redskins/Commanders/Football Team. I know they changed the name because it was supposedly offensive to Native American people but then I keep hearing that the majority didn’t want the change and are petitioning to get the name changed back?? Now everyone on TV who grew up with the team has been calling that team by that name for 40+ years so every now & then you hear the old name slip out and they start apologizing as if it’s taboo. I personally prefer the old name because of the rich history of that franchise had with some of their players that I loved (Sean Taylor, RG3) and to be honest the team has pretty much sucked since the name change in 2020. I find it hard to identify that team with what they used to be even thought it technically is still the same franchise and I bet the fans feel the same. Obviously I have no say in the matter so I would just love to know how actual Native Americans feel about this

Arizona's flag is definitely top 3. The Cardinals missed an opportunity to bring it back in some way in their most recent rebrand.
Tennessee Titans throwback are from 1999. They are NOT the Oilers. Why tennessee get to have 2 teams? Is like if Ny Jets throwback the titans lol or Baltimore rockn the Browns, etc.
As for the Washington Commanders I'm indigenous and a tribal citizen and one of the big things involving the Commanders is they were the last team to desegregate so Imma not associate with it to begin with for the slur but that makes it worse. The Seahawks are much better with the iconography it reps Indigenous style design without that same history of malice attached and is respectful.
I completely agree, Subtlety is key. The ‘skins were definitely from a different time, and since then language, culture, and especially the commercialism of the NFL has distorted their namesake, but it’s important to not attribute hatred or malicious intent to the organization or its fans. No one names their team after things they hate.
@@RobElderton I think we can say pretty easily that the Hogs has a history of malice when their owner says "We'll start signing Negroes when the Harlem Globetrotters start signing whites." and used Lone Starr Dietz who allegedly stole the identity of an Oglala person and wasn't Indigenous as a crutch to say he could name it the way he did or that he didn't have to hire minorities. Even if a team is named after something it doesn't mean it isn't wrong like if we have to say Hogs (better name tbw) or 'Skins' than it shows how wrong the name is.
I never had a problem with Washington's final Indian head logo. I always said that if Cleveland had had Washington's logo and Washington Cleveland's name, both teams might have kept their branding.
