Crisis Series #41: The Parallels in Early Years of the SSPX with Today's Traditional Movement

- In this episode, we’ll be looking at the history of the Society of Saint Pius X up to the point when Archbishop Lefebvre consecrated the bishops in 1988. But it doesn’t seem like history - in fact, some of the events that shaped the SSPX in its early years seem like they are repeated in the 1990’s, in the early 2000s, and certainly in the pontificate of Pope Francis. We’ll also see how another future pontiff, Pope Benedict, was a major influence in the Society, when he was negotiating on behalf of the Vatican, as Cardinal Ratzinger. Through the nearly 20 years, we’ll see how the Archbishop reacted both to trials he faced as the only defender of Tradition in the Church - and to the rapid blessings bestowed on the Society - and we can learn how to face the same today.

I am new to the SSPX this year and made the womens retreat at Our Lady of Sorrows Phoenix in October. I am fully convinced that Archbishop LeFebvre will be a doctor of the Church and a very great saint one day, perhaps sooner than we think. I am also convinced that the only hope for the Church is to return to her traditions.
FSSP and ICK might want to study up on the game that was run against Archbishop Lefebvre and how he countered, because it's much the same all over again.
Excellent talk, amazing listening to it. Something came to mind. Archbishop Lefebvre was suspended a divinis for nearly 10 years before he ordained the Bishops. The Vatican could just have ignored him and mored on, but they didn't. History will show that Archbishop Lefebvre was one of the greatest saints of his era. He was a leader and he stood his ground.
I too believe Archbishop Lefebvre is a saint. Praying now for his intercession.
That was a highly interesting episode. It was interesting to learn that there was an agreement, in principle, about the SSPX getting a bishop. However, the Vatican would not give a date. Archbishop Lefebvre was steadfast that June 30, 1988 was to be the date for the ordinations. And yet the Vatican would not agree to a date. Archbishop Lefebvre was an old man who was getting weaker. Thank God that Archbishop Lefebvre stood his ground. We have the TLM today in many countries because of it.
God Bless Archbishop Lefebvre for holding fast to Tradition. Had he not withstood the modernists, we would be in an even worse state than we are in.
🤙👍🤙
True
Great program! Thanks, Andrew and Jim!
As for the reasons why Vatican was not giving the exact day for the bishops ordination, I have a suspicion that they were just waiting for Archbishop Lefebvre to die, knowing of his old age and poor health. So, the only right thing to do was to do what he did. I am sure that they day will come when he will be canonized as one of the greatest saints in the history of our Mother Church.
Comparative analysis that uses history to derive lessons learned is a helpful tool for charting the path forward.
This series has been a real eye-opener for me👀! I was in college when VII finished it's decimation, and in the military when Paul VI (of P2 I believe) "created" the NO mass. As one of ten children, most of them completely lost the faith; I searched and struggled for years, finally finding my way to the FSSP about 5 years ago. Due to recent developments (CT in particular), I have been seriously considering going to the SSPX. It's about the same distance in miles (100), but the more I watch, observe and research it seems to be the most secure home, now and in the future, for the Real Truth.
I procrastinated too long. I made the change to FSSPX and my only regret is not going sooner. I finally feel that I’m home and that this is true Church magisterium teaching and preaching. Our chapel is very small, but there’s an “overflow” room because it’s packed to the hilt.
Confession is done up to five minutes prior to Mass. The rosary is said prior to each Mass and the Leonine prayers are said afterwards. The Pope and Bishops are prayed for at every Mass. A very holy Society and parishioners. God bless you!
And we, the laity, didn't know about any of this, at least in Denver. I had no idea there was any serious opposition to Paul V1.
If archbishop Lefebvre did not ordain those bishops, there would be no latin mass today. Unpopular but true
This series is absolutely brilliant. Long may you continue producing episodes
Thank you
This is interesting. It's very sad that this is the state of the Church. I can see why people leave
I can't. They are looking at the wrong thing. Leave the Eucharist you leave eternal life.
"The oath against the pope" was the anti-Modernist oath made by Pope S. Pius X for all priest and prelads, that I hope is still been made by the FSSPX priests.
Montini saw the anti-Modernist oath as an oath against him... I wonder why 🤔
Montini, ratzinger, WOJTYLA family roots are Zionist satanists
Wake up. No wonder they have fast food messes and fast food saints like teresa, montini, WOJTYLA, etc. Wake up lipservers to God.
Excellent.
Archbishop Lefebvre is a Saint! That you God for this holy and strong man.
Hopefully he repented before he died
Can you make a video on the four minor orders? What are they, their history, and does the SSPX still follow the ‘old way’ of implementing them?
They should never had been done away with! That pushed me to the FSSPX! Deo gratias ✝️
Excellent
All our Traditional priests are in grave danger. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
of what
37:17 Sounds like TC.
Best show to me, as it shows that, they had the official permission to get a bishop within the Order. Only nag was a Date. Archbishop Leferbe did so much, God bless him. Not in Full Communion = Very OFFICIAL communion = Just a date issue.
And by the way, Lev did sign the Vatican 2 document
The signature could only mean the presence in the assemblies, but if it was not the case (it was a kind of weakness),he later retracted in public criticizing the errors of Vatican II.
Mr. Vogel, why does the 2009 Christian Warfare Pocket edition contain the Divine Mercy devotion?
🙏🙏🙏😇
You men are too kind to the Vatican. Clearly the Holy See was hoping that Lefebrve would die and the SSPX would die with him, if only they could wait him out. God and Our Lady had other plans. As Gamaliel says in Acts: Do not oppose these men. You might find yourselves opposing God.
Lipservers to God always like to...
like Judas iscariot. Unknown enemies they are. Wolves in sheep's clothing.
This is all classic gamesmanship on the part of Rome
No episode 42?
It’s coming…!
from what i heard, Lev had permission to consecrate 1 or 2 bishops, but he decided to consecrate 4?
Once the pre agreement failed, it is another story (Mgr Lefebvre was not bound by it). The necessity was for that number of Bishops (and the Brazilian one). In present times, necessity should be justified again, in its substance (health of the remaining Bishops, etc) and the accidents (number of Bishops).
I wish they had waited.
Why would they wait? The Vatican was just playing games with them.
@@anacelia9481 obedience
@@vinceshibler8208Ask the FSSP how obedience has worked out for them. They were promised from the beginning in writing that they would get a bishop. Almost 34 years later, they still haven't been given one. Rome lied. What do you expect from Modernist infiltrators.
Why would he have waited? The modernist are liars, wolves in sheep’s clothing!
