Games like prototype and crackdown didn't suffer as much from a barren open world since navigating the world is a fun and relatively fluid enough process that moving through the world doesn't feel like a chore. I've played so many games that require you to drive from point A to B that I've kinda gotten sick of it.
Evil Gopher counting everything including melee yes Rage 1 offered more to the players arsenal than Rage 2 I believe weapons were more diverse in the original Rage as well due to ammo variations but I'm not certain on that
You're all 100% right. The animations and graphics look stellar,but when it comes to weapons it's a total downgrade. They should have retained all the guns from the first(which looked super unique and interesting imo)polished and updated them to the current game engine,then added these few.

Also for people talking about DOOM, the game was developed under the direction of id software. So they probably took a lot of inspiration from it. As for the BFG it is obviously an 'easter egg'...JUST KIDDING IT'S A FUCKING CASH GRAB and given the amount of content id software put in DOOM 2016, I personally find it baffling that it isn't in the base game anyway.

For a game with only a few weapons its still fun. I think it will be unnecessary to add more weapons in the game because the game already offers the standard weapons on a fps Pistol, revolver, assault rifle, shotgun, rocket launcher(rpg), Sniper rifle(hyper cannon) and the crazy "pulse cannon" that we can count as a minigun. If they added more weapons like an automatic pistol or shotgun its still classifies as a pistol and a shotgun or if they added a SMG you would still use the assault rifle and even if they added a grenade launcher you wouldve gone for the RPG instead. I personally think theres already enough guns for the player, we havent even talked about the upgrades and the powers that you can combine these guns with. The player is powerful enough imo. Edit: the Grav dart launcher wasnt added as it is personally just a force gun to throw enemies at people or at the sk. Its just a fun weapon to use.

You could’ve retitled this video as “Weapons From Doom Eternal” and I would’ve believed it. A lot of similarities between the Doom 2016 Weapons and Rage 2. (Yes I know they’re both from “ID software”, but stylistically it just looks like a Doom spin off).
Crazy how Ik a lot of ppl who said borderlands 2 was bad after rage 2 came out. After a week I asked them how is rage 2. They said it was a rip off, it’s basically doom but with borderland psychos instead of demons.
I think what we see here in lack of weapons and lack of that cool modality we saw in first Rage game is because ID software got a GMs Corvette syndrome. To be short, General Motors has an unwritten rule, other sports cars from GM line cannot be faster than a Corvette, even if you can make something else in GM factory faster and better than Corvette, the executives won’t let it. Just in this case I think Doom is Corvette, and Rage is either downgraded in some segments so it couldn’t compete with Doom or the staff wasn’t that much invested in project.

Imagine making a game in 2019 with less than 15 guns and marketing it at full price. How the fuck does technology advance so well but no one utilizes it? Modern gaming is such a shit market.
The sounds are ok for the most part, though the reloading animations are awful, made just for the record, pleasureless. Also the shotgun sounds more like a cheap drum when an actual firearm.
Just 11 weapons ?...That's underwhelming and disappointing. I would have understand and be fine with it if the game is a linear FPS like DOOM cus if the game is marketed as Open world “crazy first person shooter” ...The Arsenal should have been huge like the far cry franchise.

The combat in this game is really satisfying. The trailers didnt quite convince me but I bought it and damn its fun. Around 10h in so far

This game has the best blast animation imo

Rage 2 weapons vs Bulletstorm weapons
