    I'm still growing in the winter in containers. When it's warm (and we've had up to 65 during the day) and 15 at night for extremes, I use bird netting to cover them. And clear plastic when it's too cold or snowing. I also just discovered winter growing in milk/water jugs. I'm enjoying growing through the winter. It's nice to not feel the Garderners Blues during the winter.

    Interesting video! I agree about the interplanting 100%
    here is two experiments for you to try. With the two varieties of potatoes you have. Keep the buckets close to each other and if both types flower at same time, Let the bumble bees cross pollinate them and wait for the fruits to form and collect them soon as they fall off into your hand with out any pressure, Growing potatoes from true seeds is fun. Been doing it for decades! you get potatoes varieties no one else has got. Letting the potatoes fruit and die back naturally will not effect your potaoe harvest, got 11lbs from my last bucket planting only 2 potatoes in that both flowered. Same buckets as yours.
    Its a bit late now to try this experiment but towards the end of this year plant some Garlic and Onions on Winter Solstice or around the time say from 19th Dec to 22nd but also plant some as you nomrally do then compare the quantity and quality of the produce. All the hard neck garlic planted in 2019 flowered and produced seeds in 2020 plus decent cloves.

    Living in a climate almost exactly like that in the UK, I struggle with many tomatoes, yet have had very good results growing Japanese-type aubergine Millionaire F1 outdoors. No luck with the green and white speckled round SE Asian varieties though, trying again this year, as well as an OP Japanese variety. The Asian types also taste much better, with thinner skins, and lacking the bitterness of European types.

      Rain will make it really difficult, i remember seeing the monsoons in Bangladesh it can be really bad. is there any way you can used raised containers?

      @@MyFamilyGarden so far, my experience, even used container is useless now... soil become acidic after long rain and too wet for root plant, rotten from inside... No sun... Cloudy... Only asian plants can survive in monsoon... But if plant it in green house maybe its gonna work... But i'm doesnt have it...

    Does it matter what variety of cauliflower to sow in January. The seeds I have say sow later in the season.

    • @MyFamilyGarden
      @MyFamilyGarden  2 роки тому

      Varieties do matter a little as some a bread to be hardier, but given the right conditions plants meant to be sown later can be sown earlier
