im 72 years old and have had trains since i was 6. i have kept them all in running order for 66 years. your videos are such a joy to watch. your enthusiasm makes me feel young again. thrilled to see you on the cover of CTT. when my time on earth is up i ought to just have my estate ship them all to you. you look like you could use a few more LOL
When I get bored, I tend to run the most colorful yet realistic train I have. When I want something more interesting, I tend to bring out either one of my three “large” locomotives.
There are things that you find completely not understandable. For me it's being bored. I have never been bored as an adult. But I like it when your bored because you show trains.
I started collecting about 2 years ago. I'm 70 and I get a real kick out of the depth of your collection. My collection is on public display in Nicholson, Pennsylvania, with a full panoramic view of the Tunkhannock Creek Viaduct. Located in northeastern Pennsylvania, The Lackawanna Cut-off, as it is otherwise known, is the world's largest concrete and steel reinforced railroad bridge in the world, built by the D.L &W from 1912-1915, and was a monumental part of the development and history of the PRR. Once again, I really enjoy your artistry and your enthusiasm.
This was a clever video Chris, Good to refresh your subscribers of what's your collection is looking like! Aswell as how your collection walls look like 👍 So jelly of the 50th anniversary set, definitely one I hope to find come fall York!
Thanks for the inspiring train run, Chris! I guess you're aloud to be bored once in a while, but for me as a fan, you're never boring! I really like seeing the NYC 5433 Hudson leading that great passenger consist. It's a powerful looking steamer that takes me back to the later 1940's, when steam was king. I never get tired seeing a steam loco on the rails, whether prototype or fantasy! But the best part of watching your channel is seeing and hearing your always positive take on collecting and running O gauge trains on your great layout!
I've always wanted to have my own model railroad like this, and in my personal opinion, the two steam locomotives I'd buy are my most favorite engines, the Hiawatha F7 steam engine, and the New York Central 4-6-4 J3 Hudson, beautiful locomotives, and wonderful steamers I'd have on my layout, considering that I'm more into steam than diesel
Hey, Chris! Congrats on making the cover of Classic Toy Trains! I would love to get a signed autograph copy. I got a birthday coming up this week. That would be an awesome birthday gift! Also, I was so surprised to see that the Katy of all locomotives was not leading that modern train! 😂
Happy Birthday Garrett! Not sure how close you are to PA but I will be at the York show this week (April 29th) and would be glad to sign the magazine. Won't lie - I like the horn on the 9096 better than the 1988 so I put the 9096 on point, lol. Thanks for watching and have a great Birthday week!
@@RBPTrains Hey, Chris! Thanks for the b-day wish! Dang, my birthday is the 29th! I'm turning 28! I would love to attend and meet you. Unfortunately, I can't make it over. Even though, I am one state over in central Ohio. I have a friend from high school who lives in the Lancaster, PA area that I still keep in touch with regularly. Same area as Chris T&T. Also, that lash-up was really cool! I really enjoy watching you run your big steam and modern diesels! Those are awesome!
I would like to see a video of the Southern Crescent Legacy compared to the Southern Crescent MPC era you could do it with the blue comet and other engines too
Great video as always RBP, love the little effects you added to this one. As an idea, you should run all of the more “modern” trains on your layout. A different change from the older power
RBP trains, even though I’ve had a fascination with trains my whole life, it was your channel that pushed me to actually start my own model train collection. I got a ready to run set just last week and have been enjoying it thoroughly. Here’s to hoping that it will be a lifelong hobby!
Hi Andrew - so glad to hear that you have started on your own collection. The ready-to-run sets are always a great regardless of whether you are starting out or have been collecting your whole life. Enjoy that train and thanks for watching!
Chris....you're a natural. Your sense of humor is refreshing. And I don't recall anybody's pic on the cover of this magazine through the years I've subscribed ? Great story. The live stream with Sid was very enjoyable. A terrific group of bandits. 😁 Zach was a wonderful addition. Thank you Chris. 👍
Thanks Jim! I started talking with Zac last Winter when he did his big giveaway. Took a few months but we finally convinced him to join the stream and it was great fun. Hoping to make those live events more of a regular thing. Take care!
Congrats on the magazine feature! I love your videos, like you, I just like to watch them run! I have 2 questions: 1st - have you ever done a video with the B&O 4-4-0? 2nd - how do you electrically handle the reverse loop on the right side (from our view) of the layout when you're running continuous?
Thanks Alan! Answers to your questions: 1. I have not done a video on the B&O 4-4-0 yet. It has run in the background of a few videos but I will get it into a video at some point. 2. The Fastrack switches have auto-reversing features built in and pull power from the track so it makes install and operation easy. The auto-reverse feature works regardless of conventional or command operation. Thanks for watching!
@@RBPTrains that’s probably the best part about Lionel trains. The switches have pretty much always done that. There’s an isolated section on the switch that the trains wheels themselves provide power to. This activates the reverse. Nice!
Thats awesome! I’ve always dreamed of being in the trains magazine! And also every cultured man knows, running trains is the ultimate cure for anyone’s boredom. Also if you could in the next episode, could you run the Santa Fe blue goose? I am a absolutely huge fan of the Santa Fe and I’d love it if you could run the Santa Fe’s only streamlined Hudson’s
Thanks for another fun video I change my trains out about every 3 months so they all get a turn I can run. 3 at a time I like all your New York central Hudson’s
Always fun to cycle through the trains. Whenever my nephews come over or my kids have friends who want to see the trains I sit back and tell them to pick any train from the wall. Always fun to see what they pick and it keeps different trains running throughout the week and between videos. Thanks for watching!
Great run session Chris. That 50th Anniversary Train set is a gorgeous set. Even though it’s TMCC, it still holds well with today’s Legacy locomotives. It looks fantastic, and it sounds fantastic. Even the Station Sounds passenger car sounds great. I honestly thought you were looking at the #490 Chesapeake and Ohio Yellow Belly. I’d love to see that one run again. The yellow color is so striking, just like the MPC Chessie Steam Special. The color pops out at you.
It was nice to see the pace setter in its bright red color. The colors alone will take you out of the boredom. The lash up is pretty awesome. To see you have to dig out from under the table was funny. But is reminder for me to do the same for the ones in the draws on the floor and the one on the shelf. JH
Fun thing about that Hudson, it's whistle is a deeper pitched sound from the 1996 Commodore Vanderbilt, which is actually from BCOL (CPR) Royal Hudson #2860
Being from NJ the 50th Anniversary Set was calling me home. The New York Central is beautiful love the Whistle. Congratulations on your magazine cover. Can't help but think
You crack me up, ha-ha. Great video as always. I second the comment of the 4-4-0. I love those engines! I had the PRR version and when I tried to run it the Crosshead guide broke off and I never got it run it, lol. Love to see yours running.
You picked out a winner in my book with the 5433 Hudson.! BIG 👍Really interesting about you and your fantastic layout in Classic Toy Trains.!😊Congratulations.! Well Done 👍
Hi Matt - That engine is misleading as it is a Fantasy Scheme from Lionel, lol. It is actually a EM-1 Yellowstone Locomotive that is dressed in WM colors. Still a fun engine but I do need to find a WM Challenger at some point. The WM EM-1 that you see behind me ran in this video: ua-cam.com/video/jkeQ6KQQYNY/v-deo.html
Fun video, Chris! Great running session. I 'd enjoy seeing more of your diesel collection, but I'd also like to see you run the C&O "Yellow Belly" Hudson and the NYC Commodore Vanderbilt. Bill B.
Your wall of steam sounds better than my "Cupboard of Shame" which is the cupboard where I put the trains I buy that I do not have the room for and have nowhere to put them but I bought them anyway even though I knew I should never have bought them. Your whistle rules!
As a full time n scale rivet counter and part time toy train enthusiast since inheriting my late fathers' collection, I think the mighty sound of steam from Fundimensions is the best sound Lionel ever invented. It takes me back to Christmas time as a little kid. Along with some original cedar scented smoke oil! Like the MPC steam special. I own, and enjoy operating, big LTI version with Williams coaches. And now back to my scale Conrail layout ☺
I think many of us agree with you that some of these trains have a nostalgic effect attached that brings back those memories. I bet your layout is amazing! Thanks for watching

Awesome! We haven't had working train sets like that since I was a kid. We still have the trains, but I don't think we have enough track in working condition anymore to run them, and most of our trains can barely run if at all now, several of them are multiple generations old I believe. My mom's favorite is the red and silver Sante Fe.

@RBP Trains Jolly good show mate 🙂 just did some research on O scale trains, here in Australia they are very rare. Hardly any stores carry O scale sets (they're all on eBay coming from the US, literally nothing local in Australia, namely in Melbourne)
can you suggest a way to keep items on shelves clean and free of dust. We have 300 to 400 pieces, engines and cars. Do you use dedicated air filters, would that perhaps help. Some of my stuff is months... somew years on open shelves, similiar tpo your shelves. Hand cleaning 400 pieces is nearly impossible for us. Help
@@RBPTrains thanks so much. I have not kept my collection dust free. It is on my trainboard and shelves in my cellar. I will try your makup brush method. Much appreciated
I'm a novice with model railroading. Other than the trainsets I got as a child. I recently gained a new interest in watching videos of them. I came across your channel and I love this video. I'm a bigger fan of the more modern diesel engines than of the old fashioned steam engines. My favorite is the ones with the "cat whiskers" on them. I'm not quite sure what the professional name would be, but I'm fascinated by them. Love your videos and wish I had enough time and cash to invest in a set up like yours.
When I get bored and want to run trains I go down the layout try to figure out what train I wanna run have an mini crisis and then just give up

can you suggest a way to keep items on shelves clean and free of dust. We have 300 to 400 pieces, engines and cars. Do you use dedicated air filters, would that perhaps help. Some of my stuff is months... somew years on open shelves, similiar tpo your shelves. Hand cleaning 400 pieces is nearly impossible for us. Help
Wow! You have a lot of trains. I just brush mine with a makeup brush but I have far less to keep up with, haha!
@@RBPTrains thanks so much. I have not kept my collection dust free. It is on my trainboard and shelves in my cellar. I will try your makup brush method. Much appreciated
I like seeing the old 1800s trains those are my favorite
RPB: THE POWER
Singing voice: HE MAN
Also you have the new pacemaker 😱
Of course, the train you're looking for is the last box you look in way deep under the layout.
Same thing always happens to me, too :-/
I know right? Haha, luckily I was able to turn it into something for the video! Now I need to update my labels... Thanks for watching!
My go to is my lion master big boy or my pre war baby blue comet, they never disappoint
It's hard for me to get bored but when I do I do exactly what you do Chris and that is running my trains
Great way to cure boredom! :)
Amazing layout keep up the good work!!!!!
Awesome video Chris! Love the Southern F3s!
Had to run those for you RJ
Chessie Steam Special? HOW DARE YOU! 🤣
I love Chessie System! Learned a lot of things from CSX history.
Thanks for watching Darryl! I am big fan of the modern diesels as well. So many different models out there to pick from and run.
Ooooo 4-4-0 please! Congratulations on the magazine cover Chirs!!!!
My son would like to see the C&O streamlined hudson. We enjoyed your magazine feature!
Great suggestion and I will get that one on the track again soon!
