Jason Licht, our GM since 2014, really has a good eye for lineman:
2015 he drafts Eli Marpet, T from Hobart, in the second round. Started 101 games for us at LG/C/RG, SB ring, fan favorite and enjoying life now that he's retired.
2018 he drafts Alex Cappa, T from Humblot state, in the third round. Started 46 games for us at RT, SB ring and went on to sign a big deal with the Bengals. Guess he's playing OK
2020 he drafts Tristian Wirfs, T from Iowa, in the first round. Started every game since being drafted, SB ring, Brady LOVES this guy, and this year switched to LT. In 3 years: 2x pro bowls, 2x all pros.
2023 he drafts Cody Mauch, T from North Dakota State, in the second round. Started 2 games as a rookie and based on this video he's playing good to very good. Dude's quite a character: missing front teeth, wears 69, ginger and has long hair and a beard.
As a Bucs fan I could add Donovan Smith who played many years for us at LT but was very inconsistant with his play and penalties.
Final note is Ryan Jensen is done. He has no cartilage in his knee. Sad he didn't get surgery when needed and decided to go to Germany for alternative treatment. That dude really set the attitude for our offense. He was and will be a fan favorite for us. And yes... Tom Brady touched his crotch area quite alot and has also a SB ring.
    Go Bucs!

We're getting better up front it looks like. I can only hope we can run on Philly Monday. Now THAT'S a test.

Mm, 2.4 yards per carry. 11% run block win rate, worst in the NFL in the last 9 seasons. We suck up front except for Wirfs.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a Cody Mauch film review. And boy was it great. I was very nervous about this very young oline going into this season. Preseason we didn't look that great either but two games in and I'm thoroughly impressed. Great film review with your insight and knowledge. You just earned a new sub from this video. Cheers.

Hey, gentlemen, first time viewer & appreciate the work you've put in on this episode. I would like to suggest a slightly different opinion on one play.
The split double-team. There's a good reason to not use a swim technique against the run. It requires rhe player to raise his pad level & a disciplined OL that gets low will destroy you. This is what happened on that play.
Notice how the DL looks like he's laundry hanging on the clothesline for a moment when Mauch stands him up. Goedeke is applying force & Mauch uses that leverage to get underneath 93s pads.
To a certain extent, 93 took himself out of this play, but it required proper technique/pad level from both OL. 93 was neutralized before Goedeke drove him into the turf but that finish is what coaches love to see. When 93 went swim move against run blocking & got caught in the middle of his stroke, he was nothing more than a blocking dummy. A blind blocking dummy on top of that. Check where his eyes are the entire play upon contact. He's looking sideways at best and really is turned towards his own side of the ball. It's fairly impossible to make any tackle when you're facing away from the ball.
That's not really different then your breakdown, as much of what you said has happened there. It is a more complete look & really highlights Mauch's quick processing as he instantly drives his shoulder under 93s right shoulder area & he then brings his pad level up with force to put 93 dangling in the wind.

About the 1st play you showed. I was able to watch it again over and over. Cody Mauch did AWESOME! But do you know what I noticed? At the end? It's hard to notice just right, but watch Cade Otton. He goes from blocking 1 dude, to REALLY blocking another dude, and had the football IQ to break when he saw Tucker pass him. He broke off his man and if you watch close, the running back was going down. Otton pushed him for another 2 yards at the end. Heck, he lifts him with his shoulder AND pushes him to get the yards. Smart play for sure. That won't be on his stats anywhere, but it's totally bitchin.

Great coverage of our Bucs. Would love to see you guys do a study on Ya Ya Diaby. Maybe even the start to his season, and later on film study on his possible growth. He has lots of potential.

I know this video was about mauch and he played really well but hainsey was the key being able to handle 1 on 1s so mauch can get to the 2nd level. I don't think you showed 1 play where hainsey wasn't 1 on 1 for the first 13 min. Both these dudes are beast.

This Eagles game Monday night will tell better where this o line is. Goedeke better not have 2-3 false starts. To beat eagles we need clean game without drive killing stupid penalties. How you false start at home is beyond me.

I knew we would be way way better than what the morons on scream opinion t.v. we're saying. Great roster *except* injuries the drop off from starter to back up is massive.
