Americans work more hours than any other workers in the entire world and almost 50% of those who are employed can't support themselves on their current income. Housing prices have increased astronomically yet wages are pretty stagnant.
Depression and obesity is rising in the United States. You could say that's because Americans are spoiled and able to eat a lot of high caloric foods but a huge part of that is the large amount of fatty foods and highly processed foods that are poisoning a lot of us.
We're living through a drought right now and groundwater sources like aquifers are going to run out so on top of the housing bubble that's going to pop we are going to have major water shortages within our lifetime.

As a child in the San Fernando Valley, 50 yrs ago, I remember the 'smog alerts' that happened on a pretty regular basis in the summer time. We'd be outside playing, and all of a sudden an air raid siren would go off, sounding very much like the ones used in WWII. When we heard the sirens, we had to go inside, close all of the windows and turn on the air conditioners to filter the air. The smog was so heavy over the Los Angeles Basin, you couldn't see the mountains from across the valley, and sunsets were always blood red. Los Angeles and California have achieved miracles since then in clearing up the air pollution, but they still have a ways to go. We all have a ways to go. But, the clearing of the air in the San Fernando Valley gives me hope. If it can be done there, maybe it can be done everywhere else.

Its so convenient to blame some villain entity instead of taking personal responsibility. Half these people protesting climate change drive home in their large SUVs, don't recycle cause its too inconvenient, and buy clothing and electronics from asian companies that dont give a sht about climate change. Or, they think driving a prius gives them moral high ground even though it contributes more co2 before it comes off the lot than that SUV in 3 years.
