Great job as usual. I always appreciate your fair, and humorous takes. As a MME owner I appreciate other EVs and don't have any hate toward any other brand model. More than enough roadway for all of us. I have the Ext Prem AWD and it is plenty fast for me but I don't care about racing anyone either.
OTA is going to unlock the ability to fly for the mach-e. Hence ground speed for now.

I let my coworker drive my new Model Y last year….& he was so excited….he put an order in for a ModelY Performance! He then started test driving many EVs (he had never done that before)….over the next few weeks he tried the Mustang Mach e….. he eventually bought the Mustang Mach E & showed it off to everyone!….i drove it….i wasnt impressed….as i had gotten used to my tesla!….. 2 mos later, his Performance came in……. He chose to sell his Mercedes & brand new truck (that he really didn’t need). His wife fell in love with the mustang, so he gave her the car & kept the Tesla……he is now an ALL EV family! Keep your ford…..I’ll keep my 😂Tesla….I LOVE the Tech…..i love that its updated often…… it reminds me of my Mac!! After 6 mos i never felt like i had to upgrade like with PC….the Model Y has a much bigger feel ….I’m not sure if i would go with a Mustang for $64k when The new model Y is now much less! But enjoy!

Had it not been for the prius….i would probably have bought a model 3…..but I LOVE my hatchbacks! And for me……you are either in or out…..no halfway about it! I almost went for the prius prime…..but then for a few dollars more, I could get a model 3……I’m all in!

Good update thanks! What made me decide on a Tesla was the charging network. Now that others have joined the Tesla Charging Network, that opens a lot of options, as I'm not 'married' to Tesla. I like the fact that MachE has Carplay. Are your seats cooling also? And I saw Cross Traffic alert (I assume when backing). The Tesla Voice control and simplicity was a pleasant surprise I didn't know until I owned one. I didn't see any "battery prep" on your menus like when you are driving to charging station. I don't like the MachE door handles at all. Will watch your other comparison and see if you answered these questions. Again thanks !

I've done extended test drives on both a mach e gt, and model y performance. Model y is hands down much better.
No joke. The model E is for the brand loyal Ford guy. No other reason to pick it over the Y. Truth.

Better interior? Lets see:The Ford has portrait mode the Tesla landscape 1:0 for the Tesla
The Ford has a volume button which is glued on the display. 2:0 for the Tesla
The Tesla has no knobs or buttons. 3:0 for the Tesla
Ford has Apple Play. 3:1 for the Tesla
I can not say anything to the rest like seating positons and overall view outside the vehicle.
I've got one more: The Tesla has no instrument cluster. 4:1 for the Tesla.
Great review, thanks for being fair and honest. I’ve had 3 @ 5.0 Mustangs and now have the 2023 Mache GT. All Ford Mustangs say “Ground Speed” because the Mustang name wasn’t chosen because of the animal but because of the P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft. In the 2015 Mustang 5.0 the buttons were made to look like aircraft switches. Pretty cool when considering the history of the aircraft.
107 degrees? In June? Wow! Doesn't get that hot around here until like September or October. Nice to see a MY owner compare to a Mach-e. I absolutely LOVE my Mach-e after 15,000 miles. Drove the MY several times and every time felt like the suspension is crap. Also, I much prefer the vertical screen in the Mach-e as well as in the Model S. (I have a friend with a beautiful 2013 Model S.) I have learned to really appreciate the door button. I can't tell how often my hands have been full and needed to open the door with my thumb. Also, the rear seats are very comfortable, even for a 6' 4" guy like me. The range is great. My wife drove from Los Angeles to Tijuana and back without charging. Of course, Ford (and GM) are both able to use the Tesla charging network soon.
Also test the charging, would like to see if improved DC charging experience on this new version.
Love that you got the MME. I have the f150 Lightning and it’s been fantastic so far. I wish we lived closer and you could drive the truck and do a comparison video. N
I had ordered a Mach E over a tesla July 22. After spending months trying to find one on lots. I DID NOT WANT A TESLA. Build time was 4 months, then 6 months...then "we will let you know"
I got anxious, Mid life crisis hitting hard. Im like, lets test drive a Tesla. OMFG, I bought a M3 that day. Did the right thing. Ended up being the sam MSRP (no mark up) 2.5%. By the time they called me for my MachE, interest on cars were up to 4.5% at best.
I still love the exterior of the Mach E more than any Tesla. But, the experience and headstart of Tesla was more reassuring. No horror stories of stolen orders or marked up deliveries.
Yea a lot of people run into this same issue. They should be selling them as MSRP and make the buying experience as easy as possible because Tesla has really expedited that

Thank you for the review! I definitely learned some new things!! There are some great things about Tesla’s. They are certainly the leader with EV’s. Everyone else is catching up. I’m choosing Mustang MachE. Reasons: : Buttons! I like them. Stinky sporting gear is going into the frunk. The exterior of the MME looks best to me (just behind Fisker ocean). No hot roof in select model-lf I can’t block it I don’t want it. Regenerative one pedal braking. I don’t use apply play- maybe 2 with Mach e I will; I can leave the AC on for my dog ( guess I just hand write a note or not.) cost - I am looking at certified used low mileage 2023 low mileage for about $35k; not closely associate with Musk

Current (and past) Mach E and Lightning models will work on the Tesla network with an adapter, future models won't need the adapter.
Before i finish watching this video, i have that exact same model. Color is cherry red tho. Yeah they price hiked that car by a few grands. Had mine for a year and a half now, and this is the best vehicle i have ever owned, by far.
I test drove a Mach-e and really liked it, only no Federal EV credits in Canada, so to expensive for the long range premium.

I’m new to your videos, but love your personality. By the way, Ground Speed is a reference to the P-38 Mustang during WWII. The name Mustang came from a dual source, the aircraft [hence the Ground Speed reference] and the Mustang Horse. So the physical car was aircraft inspired, the trim was horse inspired. At least that is what I was told years ago. Anyway, great video.

Over the weekend I went to San Diego with my son, we stayed in Coronado, and then drove up to LA to see a friend of his, then all over San Diego and back to Phoenix.. a little over 1,000 miles in the Model Y LR. I had a couple of phantom braking. but the best part was, I never once worried about where to charge or if that charger would be working. and... no waits at any of the chargers.. well done Tesla! I can't imagine doing that in the Mach E. Around town, it's fine, I know that I owe you the test drive in the Mini Cooper.. it's fun around town and who needs the range?

I watched the Mustache Mach E GT vs EV6 GT vs GV 70 and I thought the Mustache Mach E GT was going to kill both it was the other way around. The EV6 GT killed both which blew my mind.. I'll still take all 3.. 😅
I was going to buy a Mach e one time but the experience with a Ford Escape PHEV 2021 and the software is so bad that I went full tesla. They dealer dont even know how to fix it and is a easy solution the cameras detect everything on KM not in miles and theres no way to change it. But is annoying.

I own both. MachE door handle is much better than standard Tesla 3/Y unless you modify Tesla 3/Y to auto open/close like the X. One of the very few things I like better on the MachE.

Prices are gonna go up on non tesla ev due to the charging port changes coming. Lots of folks would try other evs but that tesla charging network keeps them walled in. I can see this changing soon.
How do you not have auto hold on? 405 degrees, that was hilarious!! It is a dry heat! At least maybe for now.... I have not driven one, but the power button just looks like it is in a bad spot and not easy to reach or your hand gets in the way with the screen, did you get that at all?

I own a 2021 Route 1, really enjoy the build quality of the car, but the software is poop. I've been really thinking hard about switching over to the Model Y, just not sure if its really "worth" it or not. I'd really like to go to the X, but I just can't make myself pull that trigger... One big down side to the Tesla, I live in San Diego County, but where I live there are ZERO Tesla chargers around. Think the closest one is about 25 miles away, but there is an Electrify America 8 miles away. That said, I charge 99% at home, so DCFC is not that big of a deal. Although if I went with the X I could have free charging for 3 years :D

Mach e is a great car traded one in for my Y. My only gripe was the laggy center screen and bad sound system.

I was considering a Mach-E, now that they are teaming up with Tesla in terms of charging. However, getting the adaptors, parking in an awkward position when charging, etc made me decide on just going with a 2024 Tesla Model 3. I currently own a Model Y and it's been convenient with the technology, the software and of course the charging. Hopefully Ford will move the charger to the rear driver side to make it easier to charge at Tesla charging stating and update their software a little better. If so, then in the future if I do decide on another EV vehicle, I may give the Mach-E another look.

The reason it says "ground speed" is because "Mustang" was a WWII airplane - The Mustang wasn't named after a horse - that just became the icon used and now associated with the nameplate. Better chargers aren't the answer I think. Better batteries might be. One pedal driving SUCKS. I drive my Mach-E just like an ICE car - and THAT is seamless operation. Switching to one pedal driving just because the car is electric isn't seamless at all. The front doors open so easily that it needs no explanation but here we are: You push the button with your forefinger as the other fingers are grasping the door handle and pulling. All done in one easy fluid motion. Thank you for being honest about Ford's accurate range claims and Tesla's outright lies. The Mach-E rides like a sports car, which is to say, not great. Every bump of any consequence is transmitted to the passengers. The reason you think it's smooth is because you're used to the very harsh ride of your Tesla. The car rides better at speed because the quality of almost everything is a magnitude of order better than Tesla. The Mach-E that you're driving is about 400+ pounds heavier than the Y but the battery is so much larger. The Mach-E isn't as efficient as the Tesla per kwh so they compensate with a larger battery. The battery warranty on the Mach-E is 8 YEARS, 100,000 MILES - so please don't promote misinformation. Ooops!! - you forgot to mention that the Tesla charging network is opening to the Mach-E. It says ground speed because every Mustang back to the very first in 1964 did. The name Mustang was taken from the Mustang P51 fighter plane, not a horse... despite using a horse logo.

One pedal driving is never the most efficient way to drive. It's definitely more efficient than using friction brakes. But the most efficient way to drive is to conserve momentum as to minimize the use of either.
I have a Mach E. Like the car, hate the charging. I will not buy another EV unless it’s a Tesla.
Considered a Mach-e, the local dealerships (2) in Texas helped seal the deal for a MYLR.

You said that one-pedal driving was the most efficient. Do you have data to back that up? With my Bolt EUV (my only EV experience), without one-pedal on, I get regen when I coast. With one-pedal on, I have to use power up to the point where I want to stop.
If it hasn't been done already, I'd like to see one of the UA-cam EV channels do a comparison of range using the different driving modes.
One pedal drive mode is the most efficient driving mode in Teslas. However most other evs use blended braking systems, where pressing the brake pedal slows the car through regen and friction brakes if braking very hard.
It is actually slightly more efficient in these cars to turn off 1 pedal.
This is a great way to drive on the highway as it’s very smooth when lifting off the gas.
1 pedal is nice in the city with lots of stop start driving in traffic.
Porsche claims that coasting is more efficient for EVs, but I feel maybe that’s the case for their cars only.
A few years back I read that one pedal driving is more efficient in city driving ( stop and start ) but "coasting" mode is generally more efficient in highway driving. Myself I like one pedal driving, and more regen is better for me...

I go back and forth between the MYLR and the Mach-E... the Mach-E definitely looks better, but it's hard to overlook that the MYLR has more range, more cargo capacity, the far superior charging network (right now), much better acceleration, and is $10k cheaper.

I bought a Mach E. The RWD was fun; however, someone totaled it. I test drove a Model Y for the first time yesterday and I’m not going back to the Mach E. The Model Y was quicker and smoother over bumps. Also, Blue Cruise subscription is for suckers.
I’m not looking I have a long range model 3 AWD but I don’t want less I want more if that’s even possible.

The problem with Ford, GM and others piggybacking on the Tesla charging network is going to be for Tesla owners. Right now, as this guy has said, finding a Tesla Supercharger and not having to wait for an open slot is going to go away once you have all the other makes and their drivers using it. Unless Tesla is planning to triple the amount of sites they have now.
1, this doesn't even start to happen till 2024
2, Tesla will have more chargers built by then and the other EVs won't be in high traffic, frequently used chargers.
Super chargers are mainly used for road trips anyways. This talking point is a non factor.

@@lakeofbays1622 But that brings up the other issue with EVs…. 7 (or whatever:) manufactures with 7 different charging networks and possibly 7 different charging speeds, connections, prices, payment memberships, etc. With gas it alls works for whatever car you have! It takes maybe 5-8 minutes to go from a gallon on gas in your tank to 20. I get travel from So.California to see family in Phoenix or Santa Fe NM and never have to worry if a damn “charging point” is coming up or at the very least stopping for an hour or more to charge. Yes, I know you can charge to 80% in about 20 minutes, but who the hell stops at a gas station on a trip on only fills their tank to 80%??? And as for local travel and commuting, that becomes even more important to be to work. school or whatever. And please do not think everyone is going to have expensive charging ability at their homes. That is nonsense, especially for those who live in apartments, condos, 55+ communities or, like us, park our cars outside because garages are used for storage or a workshop because many home shave so little storage (most everyone in our area parks outside).
We are a long way away from the convenience way have with gas. Owning an EV is one thing, I am all for it, but the logistics are not even close yet.

And markups too on the Mach E. I’d only rent the Mach E, not own due to range/reliability/performance. Tesla is always direct to consumer a very stress free purchasing method.

Tesla always updates autopilot so it could fix any problems a person could be having, but I'm not sure Ford even does updates, like they have ota updates, but none of them have been major improvement like with tesla and who knows if ford even updates their blue cruse, for all we know ford probably just programmed their car cameras to follow a line which isn't great if that's true

Interesting, it's an EV built for Boomers and others who aren't comfortable with an EV. It has enough buttons and the wording in the on-screen options are clearly targeted at people who are skeptical of this "new fangled" technology, the artificial acceleration sound option makes that super clear. I get it, definitely a market for that, but more rearward looking than forward looking. When I got my Tesla Model Y I felt like I had stepped into the future and it was, and continues to be, amazing.

It will be interesting to see how long the average MY owner hangs on to the car, and what will be around to tempt them away from Elon. I bought mine 6/21 and plan to keep it until it pisses me off with repairs(49,200miles and zip for repairs so far). I won’t count other surviving
brands out in 3-4 years but a good long trouble free run will be pretty persuasive.
I bought my Y Performance 6/21 and now have 43,397 miles and enjoying every mile that I can put on it!😊

@@brunoheggli2888 my first car was a 1968 inline six notch back mustang and I drove it for 7 years back and forward from Miami to Tallahassee when I was in college. I loved driving that car and later on I ended up owning 7 more stangs( 04 cobra , 2012 Boss 302 and 2017 GT 350) just to name a few 🙂
