This is excellent, well done! The only bit I'm struggling with is how to take sections of video out. Normally with video editing there is a 'split clip' button, but this seems not to have one...

yes, I am struggling with this too. I have a 30 min footage which I want to trim down different sections of it to 1 or 2 mins. I can't break it down. Not sure what am I missing.

Still no multi-clip time line hahaha. The only thing we really needed in a major update. Needing a 2nd app to do that means it's best to use one that does it all surely?

I am glad to have seen this video. I just go the 360 yesterday, and editing on the phone is awkward at best. Plus i see some higher quality options for the output. good job. I am downloading the Studio now. Now to solve how I am to do a thru hike of a few thousand miles with something to edit on. more weight and gear.

A few thousand gigabytes in micro SD cards may weigh a lot less. Record on the trail and then edit when you get home.

AWESOME tutorial... thank you! I have some questions:
    1. Some tutorials suggest choosing H.265 for better quality than H.264. Your thoughts?
    2. I see that we can do fast or slow hyperlapse in the desktop app. Does that eliminate the need to shoot in hyperlapse?
    3. Would the quality be better if it were shot in the camera compared to doing in in the software?
    Thanks!

    • @FraserHealVideo
      @FraserHealVideo 3 роки тому

From my understanding there is no real quality difference between H.264 and H.265, only smaller file sizes with H.265. I guess the camera can only handle a certain amount of bits per second coming off the sensor to then be compressed as either of those formats... I could be wrong. I have found that exporting as ProRes makes a big difference on quality - but also file size!

Still no option to cut multiple sections from one video at a time right? Or to be able to actually have a timeline with mutiple different cuts? It adds so much time to my overall work flow to have to export so many small clips to then open up Davinci Resolve to edit them together....
Am I missing something? Or is that how it has to be done? I appreciate any insight.

Really nice tutorial. I have one burning question
Can you export footage at 100fps? (without it being slo-mo, ofc))
Or is 30 the limit? I saw you had the option greyed so you cant really tell
Im interested in max frames (working with flowframes too) and I dont know if 3k/2k/whatever res xd@100fps is actually doable in terms of exporting.

Thx for the meticulous tutorial. Just few simple queries: Have you used the new 'in camera flowstate stabilisation'? It stabilises inside the camera as they said? But is it comparable to OSMO Action's stabilisation? Seems its very basic and does not offer advanced features like horizon steady etc.?
2ndly, processing / converting in Inst360 Studio is yields a compact size or we need to put the output again through 'HandBrake' or similar transcoding applications?
Lastly, How long a 30 minutes 4K clip might take to export in an i7/16GB rig? Do you use GPU (NEVC) transcoding or entirely leave to the CPU?
    Thx so much in advance!
