#semperfi I know it will suck the big green weenie but drill a tiny hole in the fingernail to let the pressure off and it will heal quicker, trust me been there done that
Thanks for the mid-week video~!
See you Sunday!
Hey Corporal, that's great! sure beats the Huckleberry Finn fishing stick. Very nice. 👍🏻🎣
I will always admire the way Shawn thinks. Learn skills baby, learn skills. Once they teach you fishing you don't depend on anyone begging for food. And a special message to Shawn: bro there is always option b: do it like Chuck Norris. Just point that revolver to the fishes & order them to get out of the water. 😂😂😂
Shawn, Outstanding AF Video , Thanks for sharing How To catch fish and sharing your knowledge and wisdom and experience and your teaching.
For all the UA-cam haters out there who claims that you don't do this for real... Look at his thumb. Accidents happen and he's wearing his like a badge of honor. Blood, sweat and tears baby. Salute 🫡
The hours you put in for us, your viewers, is amazing. Thank you, Corporal!
Great video, Shawn! This is the first time in the 10 plus years of watching your content I've seen you carry a firearm in the field. Carry on Corporal!
The worst day of fishing is better the the best day at work!
Keep Smilin!!!!
Microphone works good. Hear the mosquitoes buzzing. Awesome video. Cool craft.
Cool down and dirty fishing rod! I found on YT, and made a portable fishing reel using a chalk line, you gave me the idea that it could be attached to a pole.
Got a damn hand cannon on your hip. You the man. Great video
Very nice. You can make those as complicated as you like but when it's basic, it's quicker and easier to replace if needed. 😃
Nice little six shooter
TRULY reminds me of the old cane pole but with the Addition of an eyelet and the spool Good combo 👍
When we was kids, with little to no money, we fished with bamboo, cotton string, wine cork float, homemade hooks and worms as bait.
Never thought about putting the eyelet on one of those type poles.
Unique ans clever.
Thanks for sharing.
Semper Fi!
Me and my Vic Ranger 73 are gonna give this a shot some time soon....this year. Very inventive. The icing on the cake was the cored-out piece of branch used as the eye at the tip of the pole. Good stuff.
You can use dental floss for fishing line , it's a 20lbs test line.
For me it would seem simpler to set the line spool with the “spokes” outward(sticker toward rod) and line retrieval on the bottom so you could stick a finger on the spool spoke and use your finger as a reel handle. Of course the limb length would be shorter.
"Outstanding " just......like that
Hell yeah ... Flintstone Ugly Stik 😆💪💯💯
You are crushing it! Awesome video!
Wow that’s an amazing idea!!
That looks legit i actually want to try this
As a thought, keep some large wire paper clips in your fishing kit. Bend them in an "L" shape and lash/tape to your pole for eyes... just a random thought... good ideas as always, Shawn!
Sean, I've always loved watching you doing your bushcraft thing, you make everything look and feel good when you make things happen. I Love it when a plan comes together, just like that! Lol. Keep up the great work, you inspire me to do and learn more, God bless you, brother.
A very good how-to video. Thanks much! (FYI I have found that a stronger "big" safety pin makes a good rod tip hoop. )
I always keep a couple of feet of baling wire in the truck. Could improvise a couple of eyelets.
Very cool 👍. The more you can improvise the less you need.
Thank you for the video I like how you show truly show us with a little thinking and work what can be done
Fish on bro
Vicariously through my bro.

☕
Some of the most fun I have had fishing was an old cane pole catching bluegill and bream at a lake or old roadside canals in south florida
If you put circle hooks in your pack they don't need to be "set". The fish swallows it and swims away the hook gets turned and catches the corner of the mouth.
Good series on fishing! Its always fun to huck finn the afternoon away. I wish the white washing trick worked for mowing...
I dig the birds head revolver, gotone similar im fond of...
I prefer this to a hobo hand reel.
The birds singing is so wonderful, I pray beyond capturing the moments, You capture the moments. Pun intended 💛🙏🏾🕊️
Nice job on The pole, good fish to eat, thanks for the post,
Great Mid-Week Video! Thank you the information you share!
Rather nifty design. Just need to get out and try it out. Thanks for sharing!
Nice!
Great idea. Only thing I might change is I would put a small hole on the side of the line spool and put a small stick for a handle. Basically turning it into a reel.. just a thought
If you want UA-cam to put Corporals videos in your algorithm hit like on every video of his you watch. They always pop up at the top of my suggestions that way when he drops one.😎🇺🇸
Wow, thank you so much. I did not know that.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Outstanding af Shawn again you can build anything
I have trouble catching that many fish with a store bought rig.. Good stuff.. Thanks JR
Just got back from fishing and your video popped up I was using a different rig but not a store bought one
Great vid, a thought what if you threw some different size paperclips in your pocket or EDC, day pack, you could use those for eyelets for your rod, and they don't weigh anything or take any space. Plus they have a lot of other uses in the field.
Hell yeah
Good one Shawn... Shawn Kelly "McGivers" up a field expedient rod and reel that catches creek bass.
I was just thinking today this very idea great minds think alike
Corporal out here gettin it done!
Shawn, I've recently discovered your channel and went back on a lot of your previous posts. One of the episodes I caught was "Setting the record straight." In my opinion, you had nothing to apologize for. Common sense and consideration seem to be fading out very quickly these days, and I think that anyone who can post the hate I've seen in your comment section show a lack of both. You do what's best for you and your family and you are also conscientious about your video content. But you shouldn't have to apologize for things viewers should already know through common sense. If they disagree, then common courtesy may cause them to make suggestions or just keep quiet. Carry on as you are as long as you're happy, because that's what the majority of us want to see. And hear what your wife has to say. Your different ways of looking at things will work for both of you.
Good idea making the rod eyes out of wood.
Keep two or three intermidiate and a couple of end eyes in your kit and attach to your pole with tape. Then re use. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
Corporal I like the Ida nice touch thanks for the video be blessed
My dad taught my brother and I this when we were kids. I'm glad to see you teaching this. It'll help people
Great content as usual sir. Keep up the good work. Catch your next video drop
Ingenious!
Thanks for the fishing tips.
Always fun when what you create, works. 😁
I don't wheel and deal, I have done this several times
Hell yeah. A midweek video
I hand salute right back every episode. I know I am a nerd. I am proud of it. CC Legionnaire.
when ever I see the better bushcraft fishing rods like this I wonder about putting a hole in the spool sidewall for a knob and actually be able to use it as a reel but it really depends on the spool
Finally! A use for that corkscrew on all multitools.
You can also use your corkscrew to attach to a very long stick so you can get your fishing lure out of the tree
Great fishing series. Reminds me of my first cane pole fishing rod. 👍
Dude awesome your doing great I have noticed that others are trying to keep up not mentioning any names because you already know keep up throwing good work
Nice work. In a survival situation one of them fish could save your life. Thank you for the knowledge.
Hells bells Shawn, you could make a whole series out of Fishing Camps and drum up new subscribers but keep that fishing spot secret or the "scum buckets (Navy guys) will fish out your spot.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Excellent knowledge to have and pass on. Great video, Thank you. I cant wait to try this out.
Hardcore af! A few safety pins would make great eyelets as well.
Looks like a lucky stick for sure. Great little lesson on DIY fishing. Thanks sir.
Outstanding video 🙌🏻 that fishing pole is Bushcrafty AF 💪🏻👊🏻👍🏻🇺🇸 BTW nice Side arm
I'm absolutely sure that there's Something that can be attached to the spool to create a reel....but yeah awesome rod !!
I got a hint of captain Jack sparrow when I noted the hand cannon. Outstanding
Excellent video
Love seeing you put these skills into practice.
Straight and simple design. Not a lot of attachments to complicate things. Love it!
Thanks Corporal
I love this! This is a perfect thing to do with child or preteen! In Louisiana you don't have a fishing license until you are seventeen. Gonna try this with my nephews
Thanks for the neat video. I bought a couple Mr. Crappie MC1 reels and walmart bamboo rods to make the U/L fishing kit from your earlier video. Good stuff.
Couldn't you also drill a hole into your spool ,and add a small twig,to make a reel . after the string is removed obviously. That is the first time I have ever seen that type of pole! Very cool!
What kind of gun are you carrying? Looks like a real old revolver. I’ve never seen you have one on you in your videos. 😎
American Ingenuity at its finest
Incredible ideas!!!!
I think this version of a fishing pole beats the ones I've seen on the show "Alone" . . . simple, straightforward, easy to make. It would be cool to see you on that show. The creators of the show don't know what they're missing.
I love your videos
Very informative!
Keep up the great work!
Loving your showing things like this. Can't always depend on a short time situation
Awesome AF sir. Love your channel and skills 💯
A bushcraft fishing rod and reel. Only from our favorite Corporal! "Ju-ust like that!"
Cheers
Corporal punishment on them fish🎣
very good simple do able
That's pretty awesome
Another outstanding video, nicely done brother!! By the way , nice wheel gun you got there on your side!! You definitely don’t stay on the porch, you make it happen!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
How did you comment on this 7 hours ago? It was just released about 4 minutes ago....😊
@@dadsquatch79 UA-cam algorithm must be messed up somewhere😜
@@Hector-vx5yc go figure lol
@@dadsquatch79 corporal Kelly always keep saying to check the channel because UA-cam continues to mess up their algorithm. I live in Washington state, popped up on my smart TV at 03:30 Pacific standard time, it never showed up on my mobile app. With that said we know that, UA-cam algorithm is completely messed up.
Another great video, thanks!!
I heard that skeeter humming 😂😂😂
Zebco 33 corporals corner style nice belt bling
Neat project & another great job of showing those knots. Thanks for staying creative and sharing different ideas.
Shawn that is such a cool idea , that’s thinking outside the cane pole box !,👍👍👍🤓
Smart!
Love this primitive yet simple fishing pole rig.❤
