Tomas, what a slog heading over to the glades. You were really pinching it. Sometimes it is better to head off 10 degrees and get a little better boat speed. Another thing about the F27 that I found to be true...in high winds like you were experiencing they struggle to claw their way upwind. just the nature of small boats i think. I have a Condor 30 trimaran. Think of a F31 but beefier and a little heavier. Goodness...I just love trimarans. Great video. Thanks for the idea of putting a dome in the companion way hatch. Copied the link you provided and will seriously think about it. Hope our wakes cross some day.
Agree. In this video, I was really pinching it to avoid a tack. By sticking to that heading a little longer, I got a good angle for the rest. That was probably not the best strategy but it was interesting.
I found that waves really slow down the F27. On the flat with the same wind it can really move. I think this big difference might be mostly the low inertia of those light boats. They do not punch through from wave to wave and instead really slow down at the bottom of each wave. Thanks for your comment!
i like the bubble as well. Could you do a simple tour of the inside of the F27? Could you live in there to sail across the Atlantic for a few weeks at a time? I guess my question is, is there enough space for gear and food storage? Please let me know, I do like the F27.
Yes there is enough space for a long sail. The F27 has done the Atlantic nany times.
Limited space but enough for a solo sailor or 2 max.
Yes, I need to do a complete video tour.
Great stuff , I live in MN and want to learn to sail on Lake Superior , you inspired me with your great videos !
That’s great! Glad you are inspired. Hope you can learn to sail this summer!
I just love how you setup your boat !! Everything looks neat and clean 😉 The bubble, the awesome seat, wow !! Fair wind 🌬
Cool. Merci Danick!
Where did you get the bubble? I think I want to do the same thing to our F-27.
Yeah, I love the bubble. It has been a great addition.

Going to weather in seas crack of a few degrees. Ride will be much better ad you’ll gain speed. Any increase in time beating will be minimal.
Agree. I was alternating between comfort, speeds and headings during gusts, constantly making adjustments. Sometimes going upwind as mush as possible and later to fall more downwind.
