Thank you for sharing this video. Super insightful and kudos to you for finding a positive outlook on it. Good luck with the rest of flight school! You've got this!
I failed my Nav test also. Don't sweat it, you have a great attitude. Here is the plan I used. 1. STUDY , 2. STUDY, 3. STUDY. Guess what? I nailed it and so will you.
I went through this program in 1977. It was very stressful and students were dropping like flies. By the time first solo came and went, most of the class was gone! Only 19 of 62 made it to the first solo. "The school of broken dreams!"
QUESTION: at OCS we had "door entry and exit procedures". when you had the board was there a formal set of movements/phrases you said beyond the greeting of the day when you entered/exited? example: enter would be cross doorway with left foot first. greet women then men. ENS xyz reporting as ordered. leaving - click heels together. greeting of day to women then men. a series of facing movements to face the door. then exit the door. while turning right and also looking over shoulder to again give greeting of the day.
I've been in aviation for 35 years. In fact my son is testing now to follow in your footsteps. When you make a mistake, that will be your biggest learning time. Evaluate, move forward. Best of luck !
During your few days off from class, were you still able to utilize your study materials and get ahead in your readings? Will you have to retake any of the exams you previously passed with your new class?
Hi Garrett! I’ll include some more information about this in my next video. I still had all of my study materials so yes I was able to continue to study. And I only had to retake classes for the exam I failed and then the classes after that. They don’t make you start from square one!
Amazing videos! I hope all is well! I was wondering what the upper range for age was in your classes? I’m sure most students are either ROTC or USNA grads, or younger OCS grads. At later 20s, do you see this being attainable or any more difficult? Did you have classmates in that age group, and if so, how did they perform? Thank you!
I actually have a lot of clips of that! But when I edit my videos they are always over 20 mins so I figured I shouldn’t make it much longer. I’m trying to sprinkle my “free time” activities into my transitions. Thanks so much for the support!
Today navigation is practically done by GPS? I am almost certain that in your real life as a pilot you don't have to use the techniques of 20th century? I attended an aviation HS in NYC back in the 70th. My classes in navigation were very difficult: but after GPS, today, it's something very simple: Set the station in your radio, and have the airplane follow the GPS direction? It was recently that I learnt to use the fly computer manually: it took me one hour to learn it; however, back them I never mastered in my aviation classes in HS. Keep up! I am already waiting for you to solo!

I appreciate those insightful words. Thank you Sir and best of luck to your son!
@@savanahleigh6261 Update: his application is being submitted this week!
Hang in there. If it was easy, anyone could do it. Head down, move forward, get through it.
Thanks for that! Got through the academics last week so flying starts next week.
@@savanahleigh6261 outstanding enjoy the flying.
I echo the last comment. Much respect for sharing. Don’t give up. God bless.

You are completely right! I think they just want us to understand what the tech is doing for us. Very much looking forward to that GPS though!
I love these videos
What ever happened to the remainder of your training? Haven’t seen a video over one year now! 😱
I wish we could hear from her!
@@gabrieljohnson161
Yeah, what happened!
My guess is that she got bounced out bc naval officers are not drama queens. Embarrassing!
@@jerryf4806
Yep, must have failed out. To bad! I was a Navy (Jet) flight instructor- had to do that to a few.
@@jerryf4806 @thetdchannel she graduated from vt-86 and is back-seating a pointy nose

Those tests are so dumb
Drama queen, all about her…..this is really embarrassing…..see ya when I see ya…OMG🥴😖
