On January 28th, 2022, Gonky and I flew our last flight together in the T-38A. Our positions were defunded and we were no longer able to keep flying. I made this video as a teaser/trailer for future VLOGs about it, but also as a tribute. Because it uses commercial songs, this video is not monetized (by me at least). Lots of videos pair flying with music, but this one has a special meaning for me.
The first song, "Born For This" by the Score was part of my journey in 2021. It was a year where I was struggling with anxiety in the aircraft after a really bad flight. Music helps, and this song helped remind me that flying is in my blood. It inspired me, and became one of the songs I'd turn to when doubts returned. I credit it for helping me through the dark time.
"Oblivion" by Zayde Wolf is actually a song I only recently heard, but I thought it was a perfect way to relay the feelings of flying a military aircraft for the last time. Because our jobs were defunded, we don't know what's next. We may not ever fly again, and it certainly feels like falling into Oblivion after two decades, but as the song goes, I don't know what the future holds but there's no looking back either. We have to keep looking forward.

This blows my mind. I was 'only" a cop, but I had issues retiring ( sudden disability). How does a person who is in the CIA, or an astronaut, or carrier commander, or a senator or a FIGHTER PILOT retire? One day you are the MAN, a mover and shaker, and the next day you are cut loose and the world moves on without you (it feels like) It's like you walked the plank and you are in the water and you see the ship heading off to the horizon...
I am having issues with this (and other things) but I got my passport and I'm lining up some things, and I'm headed to Ukraine about May 1 2024. I just want to live on that edge, and feel some camaraderie, and (its not cool to say) to actually make a difference in the world.
I'm not too afraid of dying, but I am terrified of getting old.
You two are doing more for the US Military's aviation recruitment than any fictional drama based films ever did!
they're obviously doing some amazing good there, but you don't have to try to downplay what Top Gun did!
That was sad, but beautifully directed and edited. Mover and Gonky's love affair with aviation in seven minutes. Congratulations on your brilliant careers guys, well done and thank you!
Absolutely NO reason there should be a pilot shortage when you have two fighter pilots that WANT TO FLY!
All that skill and experience shelved.
@@deuce38 a travesty!
Actually yeah, what's with that?!
What exactly happened? Air force forcing them out?
@@ChairmanKimchi the squadron shut down
It is not the original, that you had to take down, but it is what we get to have. The briefing was great. The pass over the runway when Gonky landed was awesome.
It's nearly identical to the original.
'Don't be sad that it is over, smile that it happened" and so great you have the footage
Better to have loved and lost.....
I'm having flashbacks to my C-130 fini flight. My pilot that day was a 90 lb girl who wanted me to remember the flight. We came back from the last low-level route, random shallow approach, she stood that Herk on a wingtip in the overhead break and pulled like she meant it. Thanks for the memories.
That was great but so sad. Thanks for sharing Mover and Gonky! ❤
Incredible, thanks for letting us share this story!
Looking forward to it tomorrow!
"Mover ruins the pattern" 😂😂😂 Awesome video guys!!!
Man, I didn’t realise you two were O-4. You two looked awesome in the flight suits. Thank you for your service!
I love it. As a civilian spray pilot, I didn't realize my fini flight was the last. Im glad you got that closure.
Damn Mover...i've watched literally every video on this channel, and your editing, production, story telling....you knocked it out of the park with this one man.
I have stood plane side to dozens in my 32 years. As an enlisted (Weapons) guy, we all wanted to be pilots when we were kids, but in the end, we lived vicariously through you. But those fini flights at the end of your careers, know our hearts hurt a little too. Salute.
You came in last (time) but they received you like a winner. That was my favorite part. Made my day
At least you knew it might be your last. The 38 was a fun little basic jet, sort of like a 63 Corvette. Your vid brought back some great memories.
I remember you needed to pull this nice video a year ago or so. Back it is! Thanks. Flew T-38’s in ‘86 ENJJPT Betamax ‘handy’ cams in those days size of refrigerators….
Timeless design, but ready for the next chapter. Go T-7A! Thanks for you service, guys!
I watched the original once before it was taken down. I've watched this one about 25 times at this point. You can tell that 100% heart went into making this video.
To quote a famous playwright, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times"............... Excellent video in all respects
I was a Tanker in US Army, I felt very Similar my last day at what I suspected at the time was my last gunnery, Table 8, I still miss the action,, and the smell
Absolutely beautiful, amazing and sad at the same time.
That last flight or shift or whatever it might be of a career that you dedicated your life to can be a bittersweet moment.
I worked in public safety for nearly 20 years as a paramedic, and I can tell you that my last shift working the back of the ambulance was a very sad occasion for myself
True. I've worked at a company for 27 years and I know in the near future, one day, it will be the last at the office.
This is beautifully innovatively filmed directed and presented!! The song. "born for this " is stunningly perfect
Dig it! From one retired AFRC crew dog to another...Thanks for your service to our country. I think I'll buy your series of books to help support you until the lousy reserve retirement age kicks in...
Still remember my last patrol on base before I got out of the army thanks for sharing gentlemen
Very nice; I’m not used to seeing you and Gonky flying together and Gonky not auguring in with fire coming out (every DCS fight). Has to be a great moment and an incredibly upsetting moment at the same time. Can’t imagine the conflicting emotions when something you worked so hard for is over
There MUST be a way for you guys to continue flying!!! I will do everything in my power to help. I loved your concept of the dog fighting reality show competition. I can't believe that didn't get funded, while "Survivor" continues to go year after year.
Thats life, everything has one day and end.
I think Gonky is still flying for a major airline, but obviously that's not pointy nosed. Mover hasn't really discussed much about his airline career recently.
I’m sure Tom cruise would do it. Haha. He is that crazy!!
Glad to see AF leadership getting the recognition they earned! Great video, looked like a great flight.
Dude, I’m so damn jealous! Congrats BTW, but also holy shit… all those cameras! It’s awesome you can capture events like this these days. My fini flights are just forgotten to the ages… you have a terrific memento. Again, congratulations.
Ha. We just had one per jet. 360 Cameras are cool tech.
Glad you guys got to film all of it! Sorry we couldn't get some better photos of you guys zooming around with the traffic pattern that day.
YES!!! It's back. You both were born for this Mover/Gonky!
6:24 That was an amazing shot. Congrats on the amazing careers gentlemen. Best wishes to you both.
Sad although a celebration of what you both have accomplished. Unfortunately, everything has an end. Wish you both the best.
Mover, Gonky, That was great . Thanks for sharing with us mere mortals, the stuff of dreams, guys .
Bravo Zulu and fair winds for y'all .
👍😎👍
Just love this. Especially enjoying the smile in Mover’s eyes as he shoves the throttle forward for that last go-round. Excellent editing and filming.
Its wonderful watching you two fly together in actual reality. A joy and an honor.
Man this was a gut punch but still loved it. Thanks for your service, gents.
This is beautiful. Looking forward to watching the full story. Auto-biography, when you’re ready - please. Thank you both for your sacrifice, service and contribution to our common safety and freedom. 🇺🇸🇨🇦
❤❤
Wow for how short this video was the amount of emotions going through my head is so much!! What an amazing experience and story! Thanks both of you for your service and for giving us the gift of freedom. I love watching all your content both of you. As someone who has been in love with fighters since I was about 2 after going through college I hope to be able to join the Air Force Reserves or the Air National Guard to be able to make my dream of flying fighters a reality! A lot of it was also thanks to you guys especially your “make them tell you no” facebook group mover it’s an amazing community! I am so honored and lucky that I get to be a part of both of your communities and I hope that you guys can both still fly in the future!!!! Thanks again for such an amazing video!!! Really touched my heart!!
Glad you got it back on. One of your best videos. We hate endings but that leaves the door open for a new beginning.
Thank you both for your service! Wish you were still able to fly and don't understand the pilot shortage when you're ready, willing and able.
Can we get this same video without music and just the natural sounds inside the cockpit.
Gonky" why the wings coming out Mover, this is a taxi way not a runway 😂
Those roll shots are sick! Beautiful 👏👏👏
It’s an honour to watch , listen and hang with you guys on Mondays . Really helps me through my week
I have to believe knowing it's the last day is the worst feeling. Also, gotta love how much that old girl talks to you when maneuvering through BFM!
Hey, Mover, this video puts a huge smile on my face, every time. My goal years ago was to work as a locomotive engineer. It took me a long time to get hired and I can see the 'make them tell you no' ethos it the way I pursued that. I retired from that job and running locomotives almost six years ago. Retirement is great but I miss running locomotives and that feeling of doing something I was meant to do. Cheers and pat on the head to Luna Belle!
Great music with a great video. Got my blood pumping, sure miss those days on the flight deck. Serria Hotel gentlemen
Skid checking in
Such emotions that go through all who enjoys the content these two officers provide each week are so powerful that they bring so many together. I’ve seen so much good come from Mover and Gonky content and for an older Navy maintainer it helps me to remember all of those great days in my youth.
Thank you gentlemen for the inspiration for all of us.
I'd still like to see Mover land on a carrier. EPIC!! Throw Gonky in the mix too!!
VERY well done, gents! 👏🏼
Like my old man used to tell me… “It’s never ‘The End’. It’s simply the moment when you take your first steps toward what will be next.”
Be well, gentlemen. Bravo Zulu
I would imagine you both miss military flying. I appreciate what you both have done.
Thank you, Mover and Gonky for your service.
That was a well made video with lots of heart. Loved it!!!
That was totally awesome!!!! Mover and Gonky Rock!!!!
Thanks for sharing this to both of you, I am sorry you had to experience this. Thank you both for your Service to this Country.
Glad to see this video back up.. definitely bittersweet in a way. T38 is still a beautiful aircraft.
Awesome flight out there! I got a fam flight in 186 back in 2019, and this bird still comes back in my dreams from time to time. One of the most memorable flight of my entire life
best spent 7 minutes of my day. Great video.
Kinda got me in my feels watching. You guys have certainly lived a life many could only dream of. Thanks for sharing part of it with the rest of us
This is the best thing I could have hoped with the interactions you two have. Well done boys - American Taxpayer.
They day i left, unbeknown to me. One of my mentors was working duty on the main gate. I couldt speak,, gave him a fist up, and drove on. I cried the 140 miles home . . . and im sure never really got over it to this day.
Unless ya know you never know.
Ps. . . . Telll anyone i said this ;-)
Awesome vid. I had an epic all IP four-ship planned for my T-38 fini flight, but I got food poisoning and missed it. Instead, my T-38 fini flight turned out to be a not-too-memorable student sortie.
Awesome video! Hope the civvie world is treating you ok!
We’re both still reservists. 👍
Rad editing!!!!!!
So exciting to watch and celebrate with y'all! I almost went that route as a teenager having fight experience with my dad during his training as a PPL, but didn't, One of my biggest regrets. I have always loved watching the Blues and the T-Birds every chance I could. I at least got my PPL last Spring at the age of 62! Love you guys and your vids! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you for this. Something very few of us will ever get to experience, but most of us can imagine the emotions involved.
That T-38 rattled like my old 58 Studebaker pickup! Thanks for taking us along on a special part of your career. My heart aches for you that this may have been the last time in the cockpit of a fighter. God bless you guys!
I hope you really appreciate the opportunities you have had. You are part of a privileged few. You sometimes talk and joke around like it is no big deal, but it is a BIG deal. Thank you for your service. These memories will never fade. You are blessed!
The "Low Level in the Hornet" was my favorite video of you flying, but after re-watching this, this is definitely my favorite now. I really hope you get the chance to do this again someday (or at least find something that gives you this exact same rush).
Pretty dang cool, CW. Thanks for sharing that great video. Great music choices too. Well done.
I get to see T-38s flying down the Lower Mississippi river pretty often, its always cool to see.
@FighterOperationsGroupFOG Once the T7 gets into the military the days of seeing the T38's flying will end.

Thanks for truly awesome careers defending this nation. Thanks for everything guys.
Amazing, you guys are an inspiration to not only me, but the aviation community as a whole. It must be gut wrenching to have to say goodbye after all the time you have spent in the Air Force. You guys rock!
Cut to Mover and Gonky searching BringATrailer for used T-28s 🤣 Great video guys!
Great video. Captured everything perfectly. Can't wait for the Snyder cut (and any bloopers)
Congrats Gents, hell of a way to close the door on such a pivotal career
Very well done!! Kudos to the both of you and thank you for your service!!
The spirit of flight. Excellent vid chaps. Superb/
Powerful to watch. Music is perfect. I was surprised at the different emotions I felt throughout. Thankful you can now share it again.
An excellent demonstration of how different Real BFM is from Movie BFM (ie, the airplanes are a lot further apart!)
Brilliant! Loved it. I hope that you and Gonky can keep flying and training pilots.
Great video, an awesome send-off! My cousin is a former astronaut (mission specialist) and got to fly the T-38 a few times. I'll have to ask him about his final flight when I get the chance.
despite being short it gave me goose bumps all the way, in the end i was actually feeling cold followed by warmth , congratz, cheers from Portugal
Awesome video I was stationed there a few months ago before the huge transition. cool to see you flying there!!!
Actually, brought real tears to my eyes, thank you for all of yours and Gonky's dedication and hard work, Mover there has to be answers somewhere, right, again thank you.....Polly!
Gonky cleatly you have been the most faithful and magnificent friend to Mover for a long time
Bless you
Thanks Mover for the great video of your & Gonky's FINI flight!! I understand it's hard to let go of something you worked so hard to achieve. Here's hoping you get the chance to return to the skies in some form or fashion!!
Feels like a gut punch and I’ve only got as far as a 152. Someone needs to get you guys back in a jet!
Thank you for allowing us to see your last flight in the T-38. But at the same time very sad. 🙏🇺🇸🙏
I am glad you could put this back up, very well put together, the passion is real still hoping you both get back in the air. Thanks
What an epic video! I want to say thanks! I've been following your channel since you were flying the Hornet! I for once still haven't given up on my dream of flying for the Air Force! I've always wanted fighters but at this point I'll honestly take anything! Make Them Tell You Know!
That was so sad but so beautiful as well❤
This song hits really hard when the dream never comes true.
Hope you get the chance to get back to flying.
Freaking Awesome! Hey Mover, Thank you for posting this. I've been watching your channel for some time. This really hit home for me. Even though I love posts with you and Gonky flying DCS, this is next level stuff. Take care.
Now I'm really impressed.
Excellent! Thank you.
Beautiful, just beautiful! Can''t wait to hear the whole story someday.
That was beautiful. I retired last year 😢
Some amazing footage. Fantastic.
