Kevin, just wanted to say (as a printer technician who works on inkjet repairs as well) I love your videos, I always find something super interesting, usually hilarious, and always helpful in trying to troubleshoot and fix these frustrating little machines. Thank you so much! This is so well presented! The technical humor is much appreciated as well. If you don't have a drill, you can make a hole with a hot wire (paper clip, coat hanger, etc.). Remember the gloves and paper towels!
I'll have to say that I really appreciate this video. I have watched a lot of these kinds of videos and have got very little from them. You explained everything very well and were funny while doing it as well which i liked. Thanks for the video

BRAVO! Love the "Rupture", the hundred dollar syringe and of course The Bridge. The clear window explanation was a lifesaver for extracting the 4 - 6ml (!!) of Epson ink from a new set of 288-I starter cartridges for filling and purging with sublimation ink. (had an impromptu sublimation job while my main CISS printer was down, so bought a cheap XP440 for interim work ) The 288 appear to be physically identical to the 252, with just a different electronic ID on the chip and less ink. I found that chamber #2 will take about 5ml at a time. Applying then releasing a vacuum to the fill hole with the vent taped will quickly draw ink into chambers #1 and #3, allowing chamber #2 to take another 5ml, and so on.
I opened an early C86 cartridge to see if I could refill it, and discovered that it was rather complex inside. The main reservoir appeared to be sealed, and pressurized to force the ink through a pressure regulator to the ink head. Very strange. I later found re-inkable cartridges to replace them, along with the chip resetter.

Hello kevin, forgive me, my Epson stylus 1160 is new in a box sealed, but I want to change the inks it came with as it's over 13 years old. Now my question is, is there a place I can buy refillable cartridges or can I follow your tutorial and using a syringe suck the ink in the cartridge and refill it same way and then Use a chip resetter to be resetting the cartridge?
Thanks so much for your question and for subscribing to the channel! Yes, you can absolutely use EcoTank refill dye ink to refill your 252 pigment ink cartridges. WorkForce printers are designed to use pigment ink, which is why the yellow can sometimes look like mac and cheese, but they can handle dye ink without any issues. In fact, using dye ink in a pigment printer can actually be beneficial - since pigment printers clean themselves more frequently, using dye ink can reduce the risk of clogging because the printer will over-clean itself. Dye ink is also a more affordable option and easier to unclog if any buildup occurs. Unless you’re printing documents that will be heavily exposed to UV light or water, dye ink should handle your day-to-day printing needs just fine. A common concern is whether dye ink lacks durability, but recent improvements have made dye inks much more resilient, even for double-sided printing. While pigment ink might still be preferable for outdoor or waterproof applications, most indoor and general-purpose printing won’t suffer at all with dye ink. If you’re looking to switch, I recommend checking out our dye ink sets for Epson, HP, and Canon printers, which are designed to work with pigment printers as well. Here are the links to the products: Epson Ink Set, HP Ink Set, and Canon Ink Set. bchtechnologies.com/products/standard-600-ml-4-color-refill-ink-for-hp-kd600x-ch If you’re interested in the technical side of things or want to better understand the differences between pigment and dye ink, I’ve linked a couple of articles that explain it in detail: Compare Pigment vs. Dye and Why Dye Ink Looks Better. support.bchtechnologies.com/hc/en-us/articles/200555919-What-is-the-difference-between-dye-based-and-pigment-based-inks Let me know if you have any other questions - subscriber questions are always a priority, and I typically respond within 48 hours. Get more life out of your Inkjet Cartridge.
