  • love how short the gears are now in this car feels so much more snappy, we will be working at the problem with the tune and switching to a map base csl bmw tune and getting rid of the alpha - n tune, so ecstatic to start driving this car again. i cant wait!!!!

    Your friend told you wrong, alpha-N generally isn't garbage. Your particular tune may be garbage.
    While MAP CSL tune has it's advantages, people usually mess with the tune, not leaving it original, which produces dubious results.
    An alpha-N tune is also NOT a plug and play tune, although most of the offerings suggest otherwise.
    Correctly setup Alpha-N will work almost perfectly. Cost for installing MAP and upgrading to MSS54HP are better spent for the dyno time and correct tuning for all load situations, not only WOT.
    Without using an original geometry airbox, MAP CSL tune is obsolete - I doubt any of the tuners out there correct and optimize ALL the params and maps for the specific application. MSS54(HP) ECU has some intelligence in it, but to run the engine optimally it still needs a lot of tweaking.
    It's easy to tune for WOT - this will be even easire on alpha-N tune.

    What about doing a compression test? You had a blown head gasket. Maybe the engine got messed up?

    I feel you bro I know it’s not the same but in my 525i I swapped the intake with a m50 one and it feels like it wants to pull harder but doesn’t. But I don’t have a tune yet witch I need to do

      Yes I’ve come to find out the alpha n tune that is on the dme is just a basic failsafe maf if the maf is unplugged to im upgrading to a map csl tune

    do you have a 5 speed or 6 speed, i finally got my s52 ripping and feel like the 4.10 i have is SHORT. highway cruising speeds im at like 3.5k rpm in 5th feels high af

      5 speed. But I love the short gears, vary little highway driving with this car most all back roads

      I run a 5 speed M52 in a Z3 with the factory 4.10 LSD. The short asf gears are CRAZY but I get like 12mpg on the highway, nearly 4k rpm at 65
