I could smell that catalog
I remember drooling over this catalog along with the beautiful '95 PRS catalog.
Trem o verbs are really underrated combos. So good.
I still have my exact catalogue from when I purchased my for Dual Rec in 1995. Literally the book of dreams! Always wanted a Trem-o-Verb head, so awesome. Kool video 🤘
Man, that was fun. Would love to see more older catalog walkthroughs.
Remember how sweet it was to hit a guitar store back then? Since there was no internet it was the only way to see some of the stuff in flesh that you could only imagine about drooling over catelogs and Guitar World mags.
i have so much old mesa stuff and i swear by it. the vtwin was a big disappointment for most users but i have the rack version and its much better imo, a real hidden gem. chris cornell was known to use a modified version of the vtwin, just listen to the older audioslave records of the black hole sun era. cheers 🎸🎸
Man! I remember day dreaming over this catalog when I was 16. This brings me back.
I had a subway blues with the duel inputs (first gen maybe?) that thing sounded amazing and loud as hell. Loved that thing
I love buying old guitar mags in 2nd hand book shops...just to remember the gear I'd drool over, looking at adds as a kid.
I had that catalog. This video brings back memories from catalogs and magazines being the only way you knew anything about gear.
Nice. And now i will plug my 1980 Silverburst Custom into my early 1994 Dual Rectifier. 🤘
100% agree about the Tremoverb! I bought the head recently and that thing sings!
I think people are starting to catch on, it used to be a bit of a hidden gem 🙂
I remember sitting over these catalogues, driveling and dreaming of a Dual Rectifier. In 2000 I was finally able to get me a '95 Rev G Dual Rectifier, which I still have, to this day. Oh, what memories...
I started playing guitar in 97-98 ish and I remember having this catalog too. So I guess it was the same since debut 2000
I was 14 and had just started playing guitar when this catalog came out and I remember looking through it. The owner of the guitar shop (who would hire me for the store and live sound engineering at 16) had a Mark IIC+ and I wanted a Boogie so, so bad after seeing this. I bought my MkIV around '99 or so used and it is by far the finest guitar amp I've ever played. I've used it for everything from jazz to mariachi to punk shows and everything in between. If you can't find a good sound on a MkIV it isn't the amp's fault.
While these days, ive completely fallen down the rabbit hole of collecting high gain amps and gear myself, i grew up a drummer and my best friend/guitarist in highschool had a Mark IV combo and that was the only amp i was able to have access to use to learn guitar on and now that im in the game myself and collect, i had a realization of how spoiled i was to be able to use his Mesa back in '95... 🤘
these used to be stacked up next to the amps in the stores for years. marshall had the same. used to have a pile of them and i would obsess over them like skate mags.
Oh the days of endlessly flipping through all the gear catalogs! Everything seemed so cool and out of reach 😅That was fun!
I had that very catalog! I didn’t live near a GC, so mine was mailed to me by Mesa. Ah, the pre-internet days.
oh MAN! I remember that! I had that exact catalog back in the day. Kind of related: I have an old PRS catalog/poster from 1996 still. :)
I had that catalog back in the day too. I ended up buying a Mesa DC3, which was a cool amp... and one I wish I never sold.
How is 95 vintage? It was only like 10 years ago right 😂😂. Im going to cry now.
Yep the Mark IIIs were made through 1998, so they overlapped the IV by several years. Though I have a III GS DRG that has a manufacture date of 1994 on the chassis, however it has a serial number around 28000, which is near the end of the line and I would think would have been manufactured closer to 1998 with that serial #. So it’s very possible they halted production in ‘94 or ‘95, but undersold the III because of the popularity of the IV and the Rectifier series and it took them 3-4 more years to clear out their remaining stock.
Wonderful catalog man!
I’m the jealous owner of a 2003 catalog, picked up for free in a musical store here in Italy… at that time they still produced mavericks, blu angels, mark IVs, triaxis and gorgeous cabs.
The historical part at the beginning is very interesting, also when Randall said that the girls at Mesa where working at the circuits under the sun with their tops off 😂
Remember having to order catalogs with a "SASE"!? I didn't have '95 but I had another year's catalog. Ordered a hoodie cuz that's all I could afford and I wore that ish religiously for years.
I owned a 95 Tremoverb in Maroon tolex.. I bought it new at Guitar Showcase in San Jose, Ca. Still my all time favorite amp that was stolen unfortunately. I have had a couple of Tremoverbs since. Which were great but they just didn't have the same tone as my first one..
The Mesa 400+ Bass amp was fantastic as guitar amp with the TriAxis as a preamp. A buddy had thay setup.. monster tone.
Wow, I think I still have that catalog or close to that vintage somewhere. Didn't know it was worth something.
Info from wiki : Mesa ultimately ended the Mark III's production since it overlapped with production of its successor, the Mark IV, which was introduced in 1990. Mark IIIs were still in steady production around 1994, and finally ceased as late as 1997, 11 years after their launch.
I also have one of these and also from other years. Cool info there.
I had that catalog once….
I don’t remember the MIII being in there, but the Maverick I remember seeing blurbs about Kirk Hammet using them for odds and ends also. Mike Einziger used a pair of tremoverbs I think.
This is super cool. I always preferred the tremo verb over the rectifiers. Really fun catalog though!
I still have one of the original tread plate recto cab. Sounds amazing. Very woody sounding compared to my other boogie 4x12s. I think they made the mk3 till 1998 or something
I remember having that very same catalog
If you thought the V-Twin pedal was disappointing, imagine having the same expectations for the V-1 Bottle Rocket. 😆
3:49 Mark Four? Is that how you say his name? I’ve been calling him Mark Iv the whole time! Thanks Roman Empire for making me look dumb! 😂
You should re-review the V-Twin pedal!
your personal anecdotes make this well worth the less than $20 you spent on it
I remember having one of these. Basically a fantasy porn for me. I was lusting for a Mark IV, but at 20-21 years old, that money was not available!!!
Time ago I had the same...I was dreaming over pictures
I have a bunch of old catalogs..i do have this one
I had a 2005 catalogue!
The Mark III was in production till 1997
i have this one Fluff! ended up with a lonestar special.
I had the Fender books all the time
I'm sure I have this catalog sitting around the house.
So many poops dreaming of a Triaxis in the glory days of paper marketing. Damn you Internet.
John Petrucci used a Heartbreaker for awhile also
Dumb question: for that preamp pedal did you go into the rx loop or just in front? I tried one of those in 01. Realize now I made the mistake of only using it up front.
that was cool
Very Fun! Peace
Awesome
Anyone knows who comes first, the traditional or the oversized mesa cabs ?
How much did a typical rectifier head run back then,
If I remember correctly, they were in the $1300 - $1500 range ($2600 - $3000 in 2023) but I’m remembering this across 25 years of booze addled brain damage so it may not be accurate. 😂
Mesa Should do a reissued tube pedal....
Kind of cruel calling 1995 vintage. I was born in 94 and I'm just like 🥲
You know, i miss the B.C. Rich calender girls. Do they still do that or are they worried about offending the ugly chicks or the dudes who think they are ugly chicks, lol.
1995 is not.....that......long.....ago
Omg😢
NO Mesa in Europe.
Yeah Mesa isn’t interested in Europe anymore. Coming up with excuses like missing transformers. They can ship their cabs and pedals in Us Konfig to me for half the price and I will cope with them like that :D
@@guertanyelYou are right, it's hard to imagine that they didn't have an alternative plan.
its muskky in europe ?
@@Tyler-ry3lkEU is dead.
Mesa continued selling the Mark III along side the Mark IV until 1997.
I have a v-twin sitting right here
