Just a heads up, you're meant to fix the crack from the inside so you dont make the outside look like shit
Yeah he made it from the outside so we could see what he does
but he could sand it away
If you cracked a painted part, you need to sand and repaint anyway unless you want it to *keep* looking like shit
@@ds50driver20 And then spray paint the entire part?
@@dennisbinkhorst2039 it's that or buying a completely new part

So u came back?
The crack would look better if you did it on other side then you will be able to paint the outside without those showing
Well this isn't how it should look at the end this is a plastic weld you sand the area and create a grove on the crack then melt hot plastic into the crack welding it to gather and on the top its pretty much just stapling hot metal into the plastic to hold it together then you would sand the top down and put bondo on on the crack to make it smoth and to hide the Staples then paint and blend it together then your car should look fine
Yep
Should be done on inside...then use Easy Sand on outside.
@@justinbombs955 you can't read very well can you.
You'd still have to body work the outside... Why bother going through the pain of that?
Or you could just use zip ties. A lot of people call it a "drifter's stitch" and they don't look half bad.
Drift stitching look pretty cool, plus the term makes it seem like you did something cool. I did that to my old cruze after I hit a racoon, it looks better if you use stainless bailing wire.
Half bad? It looks fully bad.
@@MrQuijibo it's called fashion. look it up.
@@gr6e 😂😂😂😂😂 are you into stancing too?
Absolutely genius. I wish I had something like this 20 years ago.
I totally agree. I remember my father just wiring the crack together or trying to melt it ...Haha..
20 years ago most cars have steel bumper covers no?

Someone did something like this to my rare race motorcycle plastics before I got ahold of them. They were all crooked and nearly impossible to fix.

To fix the look of the repair, I'd use a little bondo, sand, prime and paint.
Thanks for this video.

I was thinking the same thing
From a car guy: DO NOT DO THIS.
Use a fiberglass body filler.
And zip ties

I was wondering if there were any other body repair guys looking at this and crying😂

Yes I will of course go and grab the ARK WELDER I have lying around.
Lmao right
came independent, confident, more aware of things going around me like grocery or fuel prices and learning how to fix the car. I am so grateful for that opportunity in my life, or else I’d still be in a cocoon.
DIY music be like :
God im so silly. Why didn't I do this before? Let me go get the crack welding machine from the garage
Staple plastic welder...
A lighter and zip ties work well to.
Yeah we all have a tool like that at home, i just em cant find mine.
Pfp?
You call that fixed?
He didn’t show the rest of the steps, also this is a reattachment not a cosmetic repair and would make most certified automotive technicians cry, a proper procedure would be using fiberglass patches or plastic weld (which is actually not as expensive and can be done with a shop heatgun and plastic weld stick thats the same type of plastic as the bumper [yes they vary and not just by brand]) but anyways, the next steps would be to sand down excess plastic, lower it slightly below rest of surface so you have a guaranteed smooth dip where the damage is, next apply a coat of body filler, sand until you cam slide your hand omg it w your eyes closed and feel no deformations, then apply a thin hard pressed coat of body filler glaze, to fill in any microscopic pin holes in the body filler, you would then spray surfacer, start HAND sanding with 320 and work your way to 600 (using the 100 grit rule) then spray sealer, color and finally clear, you would then polish the piece and reattach the bumper to the vehicle😁 (you’re car would then have sale value restored, and could be sold as if no dmg was ever done)
@@lordvader2907Thank you.
Tell me you can't weld without telling me you can't weld. This guy is going first.
Clamp it together. Put a mesh screen behind it fill in with filler sand prime and paint.
Not hardly how it works
But ok if you want to half-ass it.
Since we all got one of those laying around

I guess if you want even more damage later on
Explain? How does reinforcing the plastic by embedding wire into it mean it will get more damage later?
@@CableGuyRyv cause the wire looks super weak and it’s going straight thru the plastic
Not sure, but that doesn't look like it finished, I'm sure the wire are supposed for the other side, maybe there are some extra step to get the job done. Well, I dunno, just guessing.
Where do you buy one of these?
I have never seen anything like this, that is neat .
No1 gonna talk about that tire fix? That wont hold air unless it had an inner tube
Plastic weld is a great skill
This guy didn't have any other songs to decide
So impressive... You fixed it and then left the material you used to it do it where it was. S.m.h. Yeaaaahhhh. Real good.
What if he is only filming the repair from the outside because he wants to show the repair...?? Maybe the lighting and the angle was better filmed from the outside...??
I appreciated the video. Thank you to the content provider! 👍
Nice!
Super idea ❤
if thats me, i would put those on the inside part then seal the front part with putty, smoothen it using sandpaper, ready for painting .
car guys need this!!!!!
Nice👍
I wonder how the cracks got so perfect

Cool. But why did you do it on the outside of the bumper where it shows?

Cool you have razer logos around your car
First they had to sand the part where it was going to be welded so that the weld would not come off but it's okay
I hate it when I accidentally perfectly cut things
If I catch any of you mf’s doing this on the OUTSIDE of the piece I will come to your house and consume all of your beer.

What are those rivet type things called?
This is not allowed in germany. We use them for the sensors at the front and back .
We throw them away for safety reasons and put new ones on it or just replace the destroyed parts.
