I speak as a former member of a Boy's Choir, many years ago. I'm 65 now, and that was before my voice changed, so that tells you how long ago it was. Like 1959-63. Also I have a niece who was in Virtual Choir 4 that originally recorded this piece with Eric Whitacre. I say that to give my qualifications for my comments: These boys have the techno music track in the background, you only notice it is there, but you don't really HEAR it. Very nice balance with the boys' voices on top and out front. And the boys do a very good job covering all the voice clusters, and also add some choreography. Nothing like the crystal clear tones of a boy soprano solo voice. I won't say this is as good as VC, but I'm sure Eric would give it a "thumbs up!" I am thoroughly impressed with this group. After hearing this recording, I went and listened to several other videos they have done before writing this.I can assure you that this recording is NOT a fluke or accident, these boys are GOOD ! All of the recordings I have listened to by the Drakensberg Boys Choir are just as well done, and nicely performed. I'm very glad I found this by accident. Well done boys! And thank you to their director and support staff.
I sure do hope they can come to the USa for a tour love to hear them sing. I heard other version of a song by the artist and didn't like it. Hearing the Drakensberg Boys Choir sing it so well and better. Way to go boys
This was my closer for my marching band show, first time I've actually listened to the choral version, and they sang this piece so amazingly and with passion. You can always feel passion and it radiates through the video
