That's the essence of Haiti, very colorful country with a unique and complexe musical style in their song that describes their struggles and sorrow in their EVERY DAY LIFE. My mom send me out to weight some coffee But when I rich the portals I get arrested by a military man What I am going to say Getting back home.
This is an excellent interpretation of a Haitian folklore classic. Great job by a group of young people that may not necessarily understand the meaning of the words they were singing. I love it, touche
My mother sent me to weigh the coffee When I reached the road I was ambushed By the Police What am I going to say at home When I get back, Oh Friends! What am I going to say at home Mamam voyem peze kafe oh Anvam rive nan sou potay Mwen jwenn jandam aretem Oh sa ma di Lakay Le marive, mezami Sa ma di Lakay le marive
It is a creole song: manmanm voye m peze kafe oh An arivan sou potay, yon jandam arete m Ohhhh,sa ma di lakay le ma rive Mezanmi ,sa ma di lakay le ma rive Manmanm voyem sou potay pou m ale peze kafe Oh sa ma di lakay le ma rive
Katie Perrigo This song has been one of the song my mother taught me from her time growing up. if you look at the beginning of the video it says "Haiti Folk Song". Haitians are the people of Haiti, Creole is the Language of Haiti. I speak Creole and French back home and there has never been a language called Haitian. When people ask do you speak Haitian? That's wrong because we never asked Americans do they speak American... It is the people confusing Haitian as a language instead of creole. That why some people will mention sometimes " Haitian Creole"
Absolutely gorgeous! very well sung I love every second of the piece and am entertained every second of it, my high school is actually doing this in a few days in our A Capella group I cannot wait to perform this now after hearing it sung so beautifully! great work!

From HAITI
Wow, that is quite a compliment from a Haitian.
Drakies the way you sing this song you've made it sound like one of your own folk songs - compare to other choirs who sing it - well done boys
