This is super cool. I'm a 4th year in a small corporate group and my comp works similarly to this though instead of a flat bonus for certain thresholds I get a certain % of collections above an arbitrary line. It's sort of 'soft' partnership. It might be worth considering basing bonuses on collections to encourage efficiency to maximize realization.

I'm considering something like that, particularly for higher level associates and certainly for eventual income partners. Granted, the multi-tiered bonus structure achieves largely the same goal.

I am so happy I found this channel, I ended up getting a 160 on the LSAT, I am happy with this score, likely no full rides for me but I should be able to get into some good state schools and some scholarships from smaller private schools.
Hopefully I have some good news come this Spring!

Very good info. I must say I'm surprised with the salary (not with the decision of the amounts shown in the video but because I would assume is somewhat reflective of the current state and salary for some attorneys). As a Mid-Level software developer (less than 5 years), a lot of us are earning a base salary of around what your Senior Associate 1 is earning (and not in big tech). And this is with just a bachelor and without the additional debt of a law degree. I've been considering going to law school but not sure if financially it would make sense specially outside of BigLaw, but my research shall continue. Great videos btw, editing is great and enjoy the humor incorporated in a lot of them as well!

The base salary is only for 1200 billable hours, which is less than 25 billables per week. You could work below a full time schedule and hit that. With bonuses, you can make much more (so long as we can fill your plate!).
Of course, nothing is set in stone, but so far the scale has made sense for us.

This series of you growing your own practice is interesting to follow. You briefly touched on it here (networking events), but how do you plan on generating work as you higher more associates? Are you going to higher someone for intake/business development? Supporting work for larger firms?
    Thanks.

I primarily get new clients via paid ads at the moment. I have an intake manager helping now and will likely hire someone to manage consultations, too (which I'm currently doing after a potential client gets through the initial intake call). Everything is a work in progress.
