The pursuit of laughs can be mercenary; there’s a reason that standups, on a good night, will say that they “killed.”Kevin Hart, never shy about his ambition, now brings the subtext of a comedy career to the surface. His new limited series “True Story,” a violent scripted drama executive produced by Eric Newman of “Narcos” and made for Netflix, is practically glowing with anger. There’s invective directed at the public, at the hangers-on that come with fame, and especially at the character of his brother. Everyone talks about Kevin, BUT Wesley Snipes, was absolutely phenomenal! He definitely deserves a Golden Globe.
It's not taking away from Wesley's performance to talk about Kevin and the manner that the masses are. it's more so shedding light on the fact that this comedian tried something new and it worked.
Wesley has been outstanding for 3 decades.

This series was so good. I binged it today. It was intense and had me on edge the ENTIRE TIME. Plot twists left and right. Kevin was excellent. I like him in dramas. He doesn’t have to be funny all the time.

Absolutely amazing!! Hands down the best performance ever in a move for Kevin Hart! Wesley’s prowess as an actor is still on point. It was dark and gritty but I still found some laughs here and there.

I just finished the series. I think this is the best series. Kevin did an outstanding job. I prefer him in this type of acting over comedies.
I've watched it 3 times SOOOOO GOOD. I haven't watched his standup in years , But i'm a fan of his acting.
Wesley..... Is one of the Best when it comes to the craft of acting!! But to be hated like 'Denzel' on 'Training day' Beautiful!! He sold that role. Kevin...... He has broken away from the 'Funny little man' moniker. He was simply phenomenal! It was never a time in which he acted out a scene and I thought ' not believable '. Great job guys

This series was awesome! KH was killer and I was always a Wesley Snipes fan. I like the entire cast also and there were familiar faces in there as well. This show is seriously intense and nerve racking!

The ending was a little predictable but the character development was incredible. Every character surprised me and I LOVED this film. I am happy Hart got a chance to play an incredible dramatic role. Did he tell any jokes the whole movie...I think not

First off let me tell you my wife told me about some movie or work he was going with Westley snipes but I long forgot about it and when I was scrolling Netflix to find what to watch I find True story. And let me tell you I was absolutely thrown the fuck off by this shit. It was Phenomenal! There was a scene when he killed the guy they hired to clean up the first dead body. His son called him immediately after he took a life and man WHEN I TELL YOU THAT SHIT HIT ME LIKE A TON OF BRICKS I CRIED LIKE IT WAS ME. My 6 yr old sounds just like that. I'm a truck driver so I dont see him weeks at a time and he cries when I have to leave everytime. So every chance he gets he tells me HE LOVES ME .😭😪😭HAVING TO HEAR MY SWEET LITTLE INNOCENT BOYS VOICE TELL ME HE LOVES ME RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOST DARKEST AND HEAVIEST TIME OF MY LIFE I WAS SO OVERWHELMED IT TOOK ME A MIN TO COME BACK TO REALITY. lol this was Outstanding!

Spoiler alerts. So yeah…Kevin “Kid” can act. Robin Williams was still the best at this comedy/drama range. Made the crossover from comedy to drama. Check! Figured from the dead, nameless girl in the beginning: oh here we go again 🙄…we always gotta start these things with a nameless dead woman. Plus we gotta have strip clubs and blood hungry gangsters with accents. Check. Check. We’re supposed to get a: “heavy is the head that wears the crown” vibe about the darker side of fame. What they do to get there: sell their souls: literally…and then all the human sacrifices and collateral damages in the form of people along the way. Gene the superfan for example. The only one in the film with a pure and loyal heart gets beaten to death. Kid’s ex wife who is still his unofficial therapist and raising his kid while he’s on the road. Yet in an argument he disses her by saying he paid for the 17 million dollar home she’s in. JERK. Of course there’s the trope tantrum where he trashes a hotel room in perfect Hollywood brat-prince style. Like complaining about your vegan ravioli or not taking a selfie for a Down’s kid or gaslighting multiple women for funsies. We get the “fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be” thing so rammed down our throats it’s almost laughable. From someone who cheated on BOTH his wives IRL (we all make mistakes & are human, right or is it once a cheater always a cheater)? and he is a such a workaholic egomaniac that his kids MUST suffer from that. And then we have Wesley Snipes who allegedly beat Halle Berry when they were dating. The beatings supposedly left her 80% deaf in one ear. But hey let’s not cancel culture violent men…he served his time; let the guy work! We’re all human. We all make mistakes. But with enough time and money you can make those mistakes just….disappear or be replaced with new image & spin stuff, right? Billy was a great character but Kid never really acknowledged her contribution and just held her back out of pettiness & jealousy. Typical again. Overall…it’s a lotta recycled themes. Betrayal, bloodshed, lying, coverups, sex scandal, con artists, murder? Just another day in Hollywood. Or DC. Or in the music industry. Or the Vatican. The Royals. Or in MSM mockingbird media. It’s all smoke, abuse of power/privilege, mirrors & BS. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Even when he’s getting a BJ by a 14-year-old or showering with his young daughter. Just keep smiling and collecting those checks. Oh and reviving Billy Zane as a textbook villain fixer? Had to fast forward those scenes. Couldn’t stomach that energy. Overall for me it’s a C-. But see it for yourself anyway. See if you can spot the lame, looping not-so-subtle misogyny themes, too. Yeah…we all know Kevin can do drama. Who in Hollywood doesn’t do drama? It’s literally? All they do. 🎭
