I love your verbal description of no cell service. On my MC trips I usually try to get into the wilderness far enough to also have no service. Brings me back to the days before cell phones. Wish I could get back to those times.
Always tranquil to just watch your Vlogs.. just calming.. about birds chirping, at where I am, I actually "communicated" with a Myna yesterday while waiting for rain to stop! That single bird was continually chirping and nodding it's head! How amazing when it's just u, a bird aka nature, and not understanding what they trying to tell you.. thank you for another update Vlog! Love it always..
Great vid runa , love it when you do the outside the helmet voice overs , gives a different maybe afterthought on your experience, although the spontaneous in helmet vibe should never go away 😎and thankfully you are not wasting valuable lifetime editing out your everyday language, let’s face it everybody uses it , and as it’s no longer 1926 it’s become common place all around the world 🤷♂️I also like the extra things you do, like swimming, or showing us your food purchases/ cooking things and all that 👍keep up the great work, oh and also a bit of showing us your travel time from home to such places as New Zealand would also be quite cool 😎regards from Kevin in England 🏴 😁

6:41 Great sleep-inducing photo of cute white fluffy sheep. In school I learnt that there are more sheep than people in NZ, and lots of them live on the Canterbury Plains. Thats all I remember about New Zealand, but your videos have filled in huge gaps in my knowledge about the beautiful countryside.
I love your videos. I hope all went well on the Nevis Road in the upcoming episode. I can't wait to see that one. I did the Rainbow and The Nevis last summer and the Rainbow was a lot easier in my opinion. I didn't crash on the Rainbow, but I did on the Nevis. LOL. I underestimated one of those river Crossings and almost got stuck in a bog hole trying to avoid the bigger crossing at the west end. I did enjoy it though. I went East to West.

After yesterday’s talk with my long time sailing pal, he is in Fiji at the moment, but soon to set sail for NZ, so your video has a special interest. He says the island he is anchored off is very remote and he lacks a lot of basic supplies so must go back to civilisation for six months.

Awesome 😊 love Mavora lakes. Not long back from a trip to boundary hut at the top of the lakes. Plenty of snow and the water was close to the airbox but no sand flies 😅😂😊

After x amount of days without access to a shower it's strange what you're willing to put yourself through to clean off a bit 😂🥶 And the kumara was yummy indeed!

Haha, it is! That's one of the biggest reasons why I enjoy filming and editing - you get to experience so much of the trip twice! There is always so many little things you have already forgotten happened when you get home, that you remember again watching the footage

I went down the rabbit hole with the kumara. It is the sweet potato the Polynesians brought back from South America when they discovered it and established trade in the 13th century. I'd read about it in a paper but never actually saw a picture. Very interesting.

The root vegetable that you were eating was a Kūmara, a New Zealand sweet potato brought to the country by early Polynesian settlers.
sandflies are an issue in nz near lakes etc - best to take insect repelant which makes life much more pleasant - love the vids!
