- Here's my reaction to Season 1 Episode 1 of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live titled "Years." In this episode In another world, built on a war against the dead, Rick Grimes and Michonne attempt to find each other and who they were.
Pretty solid first episode, the budget definitely feels bigger but certain elements of this one were a little disappointing. It's great to see Rick Grimes back in action and Andrew Lincoln's acting is still top notch when it comes to playing this role. We had some new characters introduced and they all seem to be pretty intriguing.
I also really liked the fact that this episode took the time to answer some questions we had when it comes to the C.R.M. The things I didn't like about the episode is mainly just down to pacing and it feeling a little rushed but other than that I'm very excited to see where the story goes next... I hope you enjoy the reaction!!

Im frustrated with people saying cutting his arm off is stupid, or that he’s stupid, he’s clearly not. He’s spent 5 years exhausting all other options, he’s desperate. He has nothing left to lose. If it were easy to get out he would have done it already
I understand he’s desperate, but from a writing standpoint it felt unnecessary. It was extremely rushed and mainly done for shock value.
Should’ve either been a punishment thing for trying to escape or have it happen later in the episode. Making him desperate straight away doesn’t feel earned, it would be better to build that desperation up throughout the beginning of the ep.
@@PantherFilms because you’re trying to write it in your head rather than take in the story. You start from the standpoint of he’s gonna have his arm cut off, how should it happen? Put yourself in the story, in Rick’s shoes, it shows just how desperate he is
Exactly. It’s so dumb of a viewpoint. Also, I like that he did it himself instead of having some villain do it because at least he had some agency over it. He chose to do this because he had no other choice. I disagree that it was shock value for the reason that people have been expecting him to lose his hand for years.
Him cutting his hand off just shows how desperate he is to get out. Its sad but I like how they went the comic route
Now is 10 years after the bridge. Judith is a young teen and RJ is 9 Michonne has been gone about two years from Alexandrea and has no knowledge of The Commonwealth.

Not saying I hate the episode, just have minor issues with certain things. But like I also said the problems I have could be fixed with how they explain certain things next episode.

the helicopter probably has a tracker and crm also knows where alexandria is, so they would kill everybody there. And since jadis is CRM she obviously knows where alexandria is.
I would have preferred General Beale or Jadis to cut off his hand for punishment of trying to escape as right now General Beale doesn't feel like the villain in the story though the fans know that he will be

I literally said the episode was good but acknowledged that it wasn’t perfect.
It also can’t be a negative review if I’m praising some things and criticising others. I also gave the episode an 8/10, so i wasn’t blindly hating it either.
The episode has the same problems marvel shows have and that’s rushed elements of the story.
i just hope we see silas in this show so he could maybe help rick escape. and hopefully we just pertend the another world beyond characters just don’t exist 😂
Would’ve been pretty funny if he was one of the soldiers in the chopper lol
