Fire Alpaca is my favourite program to use~ The best part about it is that is has an autosave function and it's usually already on by default, so if it ever happens to crash or your laptop dies or anything, you have a very good chance of being able to go back to where you left off without too much stress. I'm sure there's a chance that it has its faults and maybe it doesn't always work or something, but I haven't had a single issue with that just yet.
The only problem for me is when the file size is too large,it stops autosaving. I tend to work on fairly large canvases (2000-4000 pixels) and with a few special layer modes, so it happens a lot for me
Renigee's Box I had no idea. My canvas size doesn't normally exceed maybe 2000 in height or width, so I didn't even consider the idea of the aurosave not working on larger canvases. I'll keep this mind, though, thanks for letting me know!
The only problem I ever had with Fire Alpaca was that on my first computer it would do jagged choppy lines when I try to draw a circle in a certain corner. But it doesn't do it on my newest computer, so that's good too.
TBH yes.. MS Paint is just as good as any other thing as long as you know all the simple tricks and know how to use MS Paint! You can make super good art on it.
I use krita, with a mouse, and it’s worked fantastically, helping me produce art that I’m really fond of. Maybe it’s the operating system that you use?
I've been using FireAlpaca for years and I didn't even know you could do that with the paint bucket! I hate those white lines when you fill so this really helped me out!! :3
Ruby Wolf I'm pretty sure a quick google search can find you some custom brushes people have made! I've never looked into it because I like the default brushes, but I think I've seen some of them around.
One thing I don't get was the triangle color picker (maybe it's just the settings or Mac setup?). I use the Windows version and have never encountered it; it's always the rectangular color window w/ value slider and options to change the RGB/HSV/opacity values or put in a hex code.
WHAAAAAT!?? i use gimp but never new the single window mode, and separate windows were the only thing that still bugged me about gimp, thankx for the info man!
Ik this is gonna sound tacky, but you should try the huion tablets! I got mine for $30 and it works so good! (The only con is it only works with PC's and androids)
I'm glad you liked FireAlpaca ! I was so confused by Jazza's review since he seemed to hate it while I consider it one of the best free drawing programs.
and like dont people usually change the settings and explore the program before drawing? nobody goes and downloads an art program they have never used and just makes professional art right away
Atsekeen / salty salad Well I think he had a problem with his tablet/computer/program. It's not normal if the circles look that bad. When I open FireAlpaca, without correction, first brush that comes, I can draw circles that look perfectly good. I don't get why everyone seems to insist (I say everyone cause I had that argument on his video) that you need to activate correction/smoothing ?? I think you might not have really understood the problem he encountered. It must have been like drawing on paint for him.
alexandra galici Oh, I have both FireAlpaca and MediBang and I think they're pretty much the same.. ? Except for the fact that I haven't updated FireAlpaca since 2015 so MediBang is slightly better rn. But that's not the program's fault, that's mine. I never tried Krita though.
I’ve been using FireAlpaca for years and I never knew about that paint bucket thing! This will make drawing so much more time efficient and less tedious!
A possible solution for your problem with Krita is changing the renderer. Try going to Settings -> Configure Krita -> Display and disable opengl, this did the trick for me when I decided to download it.
If I ever decide to redownload krita I'll have to try it, can't believe I stumbled on two people giving better solutions in the youtube comments than I found in 20 or so minutes of googling.
Screaming Gremlin yeah I never figured that out when I got the program. Had to ask the krita support to tell me that. But I don't use krita (even tho I have it installed) just because it's just so complicated with all the buttons and vast brush options which is just super intimidating
@@crafty496 I have a huion tablet and it works perfectly with krita :D Sometimes the pressure gets bug but i reset the service and the problem is fixed! (sorry for my bad english)
I personally use PaintTool SAI *(COUGHCOUGHPIRATEDVERSIONCOUGHCOUGH)* But I sometimes use Krita ONLY to edit photos. Even then, Krita is definitely inferior, so I usually use Pixlr to edit photos. FireAlpaca I find is okay, but I guess I'm not used to FA's simplistic design and brushes.
If you want to pirate photoshop a lot of people apparently found this helpful www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/65cnem/is_there_any_way_to_torrentpirate_adobe_photoshop/
ThatOneGingerFromSP i use sai to draw and sai2 to edit bc it has stuff like gradiants and blur tools and a lot of layer settings. i really like working with both versions of sai but i have a bit of a problem with sai2 where my pen pressure stops working completely in it so i prefer to normally draw on sai.
I mostly use Medibang paint pro for drawing and working on my drawings/paintings (pretty much a free sibling to Firealpaca, though I love Medibang Paint more - but it doesn't have animation mode like firealpaca), while I use Firealpaca for animating (got nothing on my channel though heh). For some reason though, I feel like I make sketches much more easily in Firealpaca, so that's what I do. I go into Firealpaca and make a sketch, save it as a .mdbp (perhaps it was called something else? It's the program's default sort of file), open it up in Medibang Paint and then do the rest there. :D
Maybe then you are able to tell me why it isn't responding to my pen sometimes? 😅 Are there some settings or anything? (Sorry for the question,I just couldn't find any help center from the program itself,so I figured I might could ask someone who uses it too...)
Krita does have lag issues, but if that is solved, krita is the best program I've ever used. Plus, krita had so many abilities, that it takes a strong computer for it to work.
Oh geez, this is an old video but i had to comment I think you said somewhere on firealpaca that a downside is that it doesnt show the size of the brush, like a little circle thing, but theres actually an option to enable that in the "View" section just called "Brush size".
As a beginner, I’ve had firealpaca for 2 months now. Does anyone recommend a good time to switch to Sai. I know I could really switch anytime, but because Sai is a program that must be paid for, I’m sticking to firealpaca right now because it is free, and it’s the most recommended program for beginners. When do you think I should switch?
for anyone who's going to get firealpaca after this video, the issue lavender had with no size preview can be solved by going into view and hitting brush size, 2 clicks and you have the lil' circle! happy painting!
I actually use Krita and it works really well for me but, I don’t know why it didn’t work for you, it may be that you have to many things on your pc, I use it on an laptop and it works fine. Thanks for reading this comment and have a wonderful day!
Me: Wow clip studio paint *realizes its a free trial* Me 10 minutes later: Ooo Krita *presses download button but doesnt download for some reason* Me Now: Ooo firealpaca
LemonTea *o* Your pc is not good enough, like at least ps runs on my crappy pc with only 8gigs of wham, but pen pressure in photoshop doesnt work for my tablet.
@@_____._..--_ I think the problem is with Krita itself and not the PC. I've had it working sometimes and other times it would not work at all. And I tried it on different PC's as well. Even on mine that can run Photoshop no problem Krita just fails
Damn it's a shame that Krita didn't work on your Mac, I've got a PC and maybe it just works better on windows? Drawing and editing programs can be real fucky about which one they wanna work on. It's actually a REALLY good program.
Noface 60 my windows laptop has Krita and I couldn’t use it. Maybe it depends on how much storage is left on it? I’ve seen comments about how much storage it uses, and my laptop doesn’t have a lot left.
Not sure if this would work for you but I found that Fire Alpaca also has a really cool/unique hot key option! On my mac when I hold down 'z' on it's own it turns which ever brush you are using into an eraser! I find this super helpful when doing lineless art because it means my eraser will use the same texture/stroke as the brush i'm using! This is great for those who like to use brushes that resemble crayons, charcoal, pencils, etc. you can turn your custom brushes into an eraser so that what you get rid of isn't jarring!
Ohmygodthankyou for sharing that! I've been using Firealpaca and Medibang Paint (like a free sibling to Firealpaca) for almost 2 years and I've _always_ thought that "Oh... I wish there was some hotkey to turn on using the transparent color with your brush...". Alwayyysss For almost 2 years Gaaah, thank you for sharing this ;w;!!!
haha you're super welcome! It's a hot key i think a lot of people don't know of? I found it by accident when I started using fire alpaca a couple years ago and I cant live without it XD
I accidentally press weird buttons all the time but I've never noticed that! (even though I'm pretty sure I must've pressed Z too at some point, since in some other programs there are special hotkeys for Z and when I swap programs mid-way through my drawing I usually press the hotkeys for the other program!) Thank youu!
My pen has buttons so I just set one to toggle betwen eraser and brush. It’s a color picker by default, but it’s accessible by holding down ALT so it’s not that big of a deal
Problems in krita are from CPU usage. That program eats SO MUTCH memory. Progam itself is so nice but u can't rly paint in high resolutions and in option set your memory use to max. That means that u can't use any other programs in same time bcs they just kills it. Or you need a monster computer that will handle them all.
I mean that krita use much more memory then other programs to draw. It's optymalization is awful. That's why it "lag" so mutch. If you have rly good computer you won't have any problems. But programs that recorde ur pulpit use much memory too, thats why Lawender probably had problems with setting it up.
if she wants to test Krita to it's full use, she might want to not record it and delete other useless programs on there like Gimp if she hasn't already.
Krita is great, it's very complete(although not so intuitive to learn). But once you learn it's amazing. It's a open source program, so it had some issues, especially in the past, but the team that works on it is always improving and fixing these issues. The team also regularly post content explaining tools or presenting new features. It even have a recording and animation tool. I had some bugs with it in the past, but all of them are fixed now, at least in my experience. I don't know how it works on Mac tho
If you are the type of person who really uses effects and things in your drawings... Gimp is the best for that and since I animate... Firealpaca is the best for animation.
Krita may be lagging because you are recording. This happens to me when I try to record lineart. Otherwise it works fine during the colouring process and when not recording. Such a shame you couldn't do an art piece. I was looking forward to that!
Thank you so much for this, I went through a few different recommendation lists on free art apps as I'm trying to get back into drawing, and while Krita came highly recommended and worked on my machine, I had no clue where or what anything was. Your list was the first I found that actually went about showing actually using the apps and how easy or problematic they were. So I'm now a fan of FireAlpaca haha ^_^
there are more than just that for differences. medibang has a darker and easy on the eyes color scheme like most drawing programs, you can transfer drawings to your mobile devices and vice versa with the cloud, and medibang has much more compatibility with making comics.
Your Wacom drivers are probably out of date. When I first used krita, I got the same results but when I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from the Wacom website, it worked.
so I've used Krita on Mac and on Windows, and while I used it on mac when I was using a mouse it did seem to run poorly on the Mac from what I observed, and though my windows computer runs slower generally, it ran krita better than my mac did.
I actually use fire alpaca and you can see and change how much you use the eraser easily and also if you can't tell what the settings are on the side hit tools at the top
Something interesting- you and Draw with Jazza had opposite experiences with Gimp and Krita with your free drawing program videos! His experience went really well with Krita while yours... Was something. I just find that pretty interesting after seeing both videos!
I used krita since I started with digital art and just a few months ago i switched to SAI because krita was getting slower. I don't think it was the program's fault because my laptop is getting old. Currently Krita is also completely unusable for me especially in bigger formats while SAI is still smooooth even in a very high resolution ^^ Sometimes I use fire alpaca too, but only for my animating experiments because it's very good for that purpose! Btw nice video, it's a shame you couldn't try krita, i used to love it!
that also happened to me, It took me a month to figure out how to fix it. what I did was go to settings>configure krita>display>renderer then changed what it used to render hope this helps
Krita is definitely a large program now that it has an animation function and whatnot, so that was probably the main problem. It truly depends on your laptop's RAM to see how much it can work up to. Especially if you run music and whatnot in the background. This cruddy desktop only has 6GB of RAM, so when I have Krita, Chrome, and Discord all working, it gets just a bit laggy and slow and sometimes my computer even gives me warnings to close it since it's using quite a bit of RAM
Yeah some people say that it works better/more smoothly than firealpaca, but it really depends on what you’re trying to do. Medibang is more suited for comics/manga while FireAlpaca is better for simple animations. But using both for illustration is really a matter of opinion.
I really enjoy using Medibang Paint! It's very close to Photoshop look and performance wise. There is the ad in the beginning but that is really minor. It has a cloud save so if you don't have enough room on your computer or work on different devices, you can put it in the cloud and take it everywhere. I honestly can't recommend this program enough for beginning artists! I've used it for a year now to make illustrations and comic pages! If you can, please give it a try! Plus it's free!
FangirlAwesome I agree with you. I’ve been using it for a year since I got my drawing tablet and it’s honestly really good. While FireAlpaca is from the same company, I’ve found that Medibang is better for the soul reason that it’s not as slow. I sometimes get small lag spike but that because my laptop isn’t built for multimedia stuff. You can make really good art after adding both custom and cloud brushes.
I didn't know you could change the brush pressure? I recently bought a wacom tablet with pen pressure and it does it for me, but before then I never knew how how and it was always a bit frustrating
MedibangPaint Pro and Autodesk Sketchbook are really good once you get the hang of it! Though, I prefer MedibangPaint for PC, and Sketchbook for mobile
I used to use it often because I had nothing else at the time and even rental school computers came with it. I'd use the shape making tool to make planets and the curving line took to make space ships. It's not art I'd post now, but it was art I'd make my desktop backdrop often.
Nobody judge me but the programs i use are roblox free draw and my sketch book omfg god people chill down there is nothing wrong with using roblox and i much prefer roblox over other drawings programs im looking at you synflwr Okay edit 2 I guess I don't use roblox anymore I have quit roblox I don't use it anymore OKAY SO CHILL THE FUCK DOWN
I'm judging you very hard. ROBLOX? You're drawing in a friggin' game when you can download fireplace quickly and easily? Also, it's not a bad thing to use a sketchbook, not everyone has to do digital art, you can choose what you prefer.
I have been using Krita for at least a year, and it's working just fine. I don't understand why you couldn't use it. I'm thinking about downloading Fire Alpaca because of how nice the ink pen looks, but it looks really complicated. I'm sticking to Krita for now. UPDATE: I downloaded FireAlpaca and it's not complicated at all! The lines are very smooth and I like it a lot. I still use Krita for some fancy effects, since FA doesn't have as many. Thank you all for your replies! :)
Kates Fantasies im a loyal fireaplaca user but i downloaded krita because of the positive review and it did the same laggy thing as it did in this video i wanted to actually use it sucks;_; if anyone knows a way to fix it plis help
I got a drawing tablet today and this helped so much! I’m just starting to do proper drawings on laptops and am not able to pay for a proper software and I was already thinking of using FireAlpaca, but this helped me properly decide! ^^
HIGHLY recommend firealpaca. It’s very simple and easy to get into. There are also some great tutorials, check out LeslieLu Marie’s firealpaca tutorials on UA-cam.
I'd recommend Krita, even though for whatever reason it didn't work in this video, it works great for me. I used to use firealpaca and i'd say that's definitely also a great program, but I prefer Krita.
I've been using Fire Alpaca for maybe a year now I've always had a problem with those lines until now because I NEVER noticed that thing at the top. Glad I checked this video out when the problem started to really annoy me.
3:29, when I get white lines, on the layer where I got the white lines, let's say I drew a skirt, I select the outside of the skirt and make a new layer, draw over the selection in a new layer and put the new layer underneath the skirt so it looks like there are no white lines and merge.
About not being able to see the brush size in Firealpaca, if you go into the top bar that says view, you can select "brush size" so you can see the circle while you're drawing.
Krita by far is the best, I prefer it over PS. Ive used both of the other programs in the past and they are really limiting. I have no idea how yours got so messed up.
Hey dude, for krita the weird problem you’re having is because you probably have “opengl” on! If you uncheck the box in the settings it should get rid of the lag problem! Krita is a great program, so please give it another chance!
On gimp you have a few ways around the line. The easiest one I have found is selecting the area you want with the wand tool and then use the grow function for 1-2 pixels. Make a new layer under the line art and use the bucket fill there. Fill in any gaps with the pen.
if you've been working with firealpaca for a long time, you won't really like krita. I can tell you that. When I began digital art, I used krita. I used it for about 6 months until switching to firealpaca, and when I did I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with it. I recently came back to krita to see if maybe i could try it out again, and it still sucked. Plus, no matter how much I tried in those 6 months, I didn't improve a single bit besides for less shaky lines.
Why are you trying to start an argument with me? It seems like you're really trying to and I never intended to start anything in the first place. I personally think FireAlpaca is better for cartoons and simple but powerful tools, which I never found in krita. That's the most basic way I can explain it. Yes, I know my opinion is probably biased because I'm purely a cartoonist. Again, I used it for a long time and I knew a lot of the features that COULD actually be useful to a lot of you. But, in my opinion, if you're looking to draw cartoons you should look somewhere else. Also, the biggest turn off in the whole thing is that they haven't gotten around to fixing those white dots around the lines when using paint bucket to color is probably the biggest downside. Even then, if there IS a way, it should be way more obvious instead of being something that'd you never find on your own.
"like if i were to not play around in krita, then i would agree, but if you start opening up windows, and try seeing what different menus do, you probably have all your problems solved. but if i were to use fire alpaca, i would not know what any of the menus do, or any thing at all infact." You literally just said that you're pretty much too lazy to figure out FireAlpaca. Your argument that you don't need to play around with the program is pretty damn invalid, as the most you've said is "i'll play around with krita but, firealpaca? ewww nah". You DO need to play with it to actually make something good, and same goes for krita. In general, your argument is... really all over the place. The only parts that I can *exactly* understand what you mean is the first paragraph and the last two paragraphs (not including the clone tool comment). Again, your whole "i would explore and play with krita to fix my problems" argument is again invalid. All you really put off is "i like krita and if explore you win but firealpaca? nuh uh girlfren (lol im secretly 2 laz...y. xd)". You NEED to play around with FireAlpaca to understand why people like it and just prefer it in general. And a side note, krita is much harder to figure out and understand than FireAlpaca. Everyone I know who uses it agrees with that, and if someone who uses photoshop (a complex as hell program, much more to offer than krita and firealpaca combined) for art can't figure it out at all then... I dunno.
6:42 if you go into view (it is at the top of your screen and is beside color and tool) in firealpaca, there is a tab above comic guide lines (that is inside the view tab) that says brush size, if u click on it, the brush size will appear :)
I am glad that you asked if something was wrong with krita when you were using it but does take a long time to figure out and it can be super fun with the variety of brushes! One problem when you were using Krita the brush was very thick and I think that if you made the brush thinner it would have made your art work out the way you wanted it to. You were also using the default brush if you had switched brushes your art would be very nice in Krita! This is coming from someone who has used Krita a lot! It would be very nice if you made a video about trying Krita again! I hope you have a great day! I hope that you can make a separate review on Krita! And I hope it doesn't lag. Sorry for about no periods. and repeating things.
The issue I have with Krita is that the larger your brush size, the blurrier the lines. And cuz I have never been able to get the fill tool to work, it always annoyed me that I would have to do a tiny outline of the part I want to colour that was like, 2 pixels large, before I could fill it in with a larger brush.
Im so glad FireAlpaca has gotten such a positive review! Its a lovely program, if not a bit odd. Sorry for the semi-unrelated questions, but have you ever used Clip Studio Paint? If so, how would you rank it? Also, what video editor do you use? I've been trying to find one thats free due to my lack of money. I wanna be able to edit some speedpaints of mine! Thank you for your time!
Well I have used the free trial of Clip Studio Paint and I'm gonna be honest. I'm happy with Medibang and/or Firealpaca right now. Hear me out before you get your pitchforks. Clip Studio Paint looks promising. Lots of features, an animation feature. Even a line tool like how you use in SAI. However...The wand tool is not that good. The line tools are wonky and good luck trying to shade. The blur tool does not work like the blurs in Firealpaca or Medibang. It would just end up looking very messy. The layout is not as professional as I hoped it would be and while it does offer patterns like lace and comic features, your drawing will not be as you hoped unless you have the serial number. My advice is you can just use what I mentioned or get programs like Gimp, Paint Tool Sai (around like 25 bucks and 2.0 offers text. Finally. But I don't recommend getting the program because it's popular. Use it for your preferences), MyPaint, Corel Paint or even Photoshop. I would rank the free trial of Clip Studio paint 2 out of 5 but if you can tell me how good the real deal is I'll give it a go
Princess Spirit Quartz I have the full version of Clip studio paint. I really like the program. It has a lot of different brushes and tools that can give really cool effects in your art.
Vaudsnitchy A screen recording program that doubles as an editing software is iSpring Free Cam 8. A good editing program that includes so many effects is Hitfilm Express.
Sorry for the late response. And how would you rank it because clearly I'm doing something wrong. And Firealpaca is great. Strong program and all. Mild complaint is the wand tool
3:20 There's an option called "threshold" with the paint bucket tool. You likely had it on 1 or a low number. This is so that it can fill in blurred lines without leaving behind said white lines. The trick for coloring with this program is to fuzzy-select the area to color, grow the selection so it passes the lines, then fill with the color of choice.
I don't remember exactly since it's been a long time since I've used Gimp, but if I'm correct, next to filters (on top of the drawing window) there is a window panel you can open, this option should be here

Gimp isn’t just split windows like that, you can change it in the settings so it’s all one connected window.
One thing I don't get was the triangle color picker (maybe it's just the settings or Mac setup?). I use the Windows version and have never encountered it; it's always the rectangular color window w/ value slider and options to change the RGB/HSV/opacity values or put in a hex code.
@@emileeweir7773 Settings. Asks you what type of colour picker you want.
Same with GIMP, except in gimp you first need to get the plugin.
That was actually a pretty new feature, I'm not actually sure if it was introduced by the time she did this video.
It comes with one window now
There is an option in GIMP to glue all the windows together like in photoshop! You just have to go in the top bar and Windows > Single-Window Mode
is this on Linux GIMP?
also, yes
it's on all of them

I'm glad you liked FireAlpaca ! I was so confused by Jazza's review since he seemed to hate it while I consider it one of the best free drawing programs.
hes the art gordon ramsay.
no but like he judget it by drawing fucking circles
and like dont people usually change the settings and explore the program before drawing? nobody goes and downloads an art program they have never used and just makes professional art right away
I never tried Krita though.
i had the same problem jazza had, so i'm not really a fan of fire alpaca. i switched to krita and i actually liked it much better.

A possible solution for your problem with Krita is changing the renderer. Try going to Settings -> Configure Krita -> Display and disable opengl, this did the trick for me when I decided to download it.
that's what I did
+
Yeah, this was recommended to me when I first tried Krita and had this problem. Instant fix. Been using it 2 years and its never been a problem again.
People: "Krita is really good"

(sorry for my bad english)
For me, Krita has no real issues, it doesn’t seem like a really new program to me-
I personally use PaintTool SAI *(COUGHCOUGHPIRATEDVERSIONCOUGHCOUGH)* But I sometimes use Krita ONLY to edit photos. Even then, Krita is definitely inferior, so I usually use Pixlr to edit photos. FireAlpaca I find is okay, but I guess I'm not used to FA's simplistic design and brushes.
hah, i'm too scared to pirate sai, does it work well?
Look up "VileBile Paint Tool SAI." It should be the first result. And yes, it works amazingly. It even has some custom brushes.
If you want to pirate photoshop a lot of people apparently found this helpful www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/65cnem/is_there_any_way_to_torrentpirate_adobe_photoshop/
ThatOneGingerFromSP i use sai to draw and sai2 to edit bc it has stuff like gradiants and blur tools and a lot of layer settings. i really like working with both versions of sai but i have a bit of a problem with sai2 where my pen pressure stops working completely in it so i prefer to normally draw on sai.
oh i use it too(COUGHCOUGHPIRATEDVERSIONTOOCOUGHCOUGH) Its really easy to use after a little while

+legends End your sentence
:D
legends, no
Maybe then you are able to tell me why it isn't responding to my pen sometimes? 😅 Are there some settings or anything? (Sorry for the question,I just couldn't find any help center from the program itself,so I figured I might could ask someone who uses it too...)

Krita does have lag issues, but if that is solved, krita is the best program I've ever used. Plus, krita had so many abilities, that it takes a strong computer for it to work.
there are a lot of issues with krita on macos, one of which is it not booting unless you run it from the disk image
Oh geez, this is an old video but i had to comment
I think you said somewhere on firealpaca that a downside is that it doesnt show the size of the brush, like a little circle thing, but theres actually an option to enable that in the "View" section just called "Brush size".
Well since it's the older version now it automatically just shows you the brush and eraser sizes.
Is fire alpaca only on iMac or is it on windows too?
Its for both imac and windows
Ok thanks guys 👌

for anyone who's going to get firealpaca after this video, the issue lavender had with no size preview can be solved by going into view and hitting brush size, 2 clicks and you have the lil' circle! happy painting!

Alwayyysss
For almost 2 years
Gaaah, thank you for sharing this ;w;!!!
haha you're super welcome! It's a hot key i think a lot of people don't know of? I found it by accident when I started using fire alpaca a couple years ago and I cant live without it XD
I accidentally press weird buttons all the time but I've never noticed that! (even though I'm pretty sure I must've pressed Z too at some point, since in some other programs there are special hotkeys for Z and when I swap programs mid-way through my drawing I usually press the hotkeys for the other program!)
Thank youu!
My pen has buttons so I just set one to toggle betwen eraser and brush. It’s a color picker by default, but it’s accessible by holding down ALT so it’s not that big of a deal

Randomguy Senpai really????? I use fire alpaca
David Beck Yeah, its in the colour tab, I think
Problems in krita are from CPU usage. That program eats SO MUTCH memory. Progam itself is so nice but u can't rly paint in high resolutions and in option set your memory use to max. That means that u can't use any other programs in same time bcs they just kills it. Or you need a monster computer that will handle them all.
I don't know if I get what you mean, I use krita and fire alpaca and have used both at the same time before without any problems..?

I don't know how it works on Mac tho

caramelomachiato Fire alpaca is the same as medibang just you can make gifs with Fire alpaca
there are more than just that for differences. medibang has a darker and easy on the eyes color scheme like most drawing programs, you can transfer drawings to your mobile devices and vice versa with the cloud, and medibang has much more compatibility with making comics.
Your Wacom drivers are probably out of date. When I first used krita, I got the same results but when I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from the Wacom website, it worked.

I used krita since I started with digital art and just a few months ago i switched to SAI because krita was getting slower. I don't think it was the program's fault because my laptop is getting old. Currently Krita is also completely unusable for me especially in bigger formats while SAI is still smooooth even in a very high resolution ^^
Sometimes I use fire alpaca too, but only for my animating experiments because it's very good for that purpose! Btw nice video, it's a shame you couldn't try krita, i used to love it!
that also happened to me, It took me a month to figure out how to fix it.
what I did was go to settings>configure krita>display>renderer then changed what it used to render
hope this helps
Krita is definitely a large program now that it has an animation function and whatnot, so that was probably the main problem. It truly depends on your laptop's RAM to see how much it can work up to. Especially if you run music and whatnot in the background. This cruddy desktop only has 6GB of RAM, so when I have Krita, Chrome, and Discord all working, it gets just a bit laggy and slow and sometimes my computer even gives me warnings to close it since it's using quite a bit of RAM
Damn, your art is good

I think its mostly just different computers.

It's View> Brush Size right?
I love FireAlpaca. I've been using it for a while and wouldn't think of changing to a different program since this one is free and easy.
I use medibang, it works wonders
medibang is basically firealpaca (its made by the same people) the only differences is that medibang has a dark theme and has more manga options
medibang and firealpaca are litrally the same program but ones more for comics
Yeah some people say that it works better/more smoothly than firealpaca, but it really depends on what you’re trying to do. Medibang is more suited for comics/manga while FireAlpaca is better for simple animations. But using both for illustration is really a matter of opinion.
That on phone
I use Ibis Paint X
FangirlAwesome I love that software BUT I can’t figure out how to adjust brush pressure??

I'd recommend Krita, even though for whatever reason it didn't work in this video, it works great for me. I used to use firealpaca and i'd say that's definitely also a great program, but I prefer Krita.
Me too! I was debating between FireAlpaca and Krita. (Obviously I'm going to get FireAlpaca after seeing this haha)
Haha, No. Krita is actually *really* good, unfortunately she couldn't use it for some reason
I've been using Fire Alpaca for maybe a year now
I've always had a problem with those lines until now because I NEVER noticed that thing at the top. Glad I checked this video out when the problem started to really annoy me.
Welp... I use only krita ಠಠ
AvA-Ria no worries mah dude even I use krita :3
I have been using Krita for a bit.. It can be nice for some sketching
OMG SENPAI I FOUND YOU 0W0
I am so sorry XD
Who the hell is your senpai ._.
Why must you even have a senpai .-.
Yes. Thank you.
Krita confuses me the frick out, It's so confusing. How do you do it😣

@@thatgaycousin9129 Krita works for me on Mac
@@thatgaycousin9129 I have a mac and it works fine.
Hey dude, for krita the weird problem you’re having is because you probably have “opengl” on! If you uncheck the box in the settings it should get rid of the lag problem! Krita is a great program, so please give it another chance!

Up!
Its stinky
On gimp you have a few ways around the line.
The easiest one I have found is selecting the area you want with the wand tool and then use the grow function for 1-2 pixels.
Make a new layer under the line art and use the bucket fill there.
Fill in any gaps with the pen.

Hi pinkie pie
In firealpaca you can set the little circle thing to show what your gonna draw and erase,
if you've been working with firealpaca for a long time, you won't really like krita.
I dunno.
jesus i was just saying something you could do in firealpaca how did i start this-
lol
6:42 if you go into view (it is at the top of your screen and is beside color and tool) in firealpaca, there is a tab above comic guide lines (that is inside the view tab) that says brush size, if u click on it, the brush size will appear :)
okay- the krita drawing... i was closing myy eyees because of how hard i was laughing and when i opened them i again i just- I COULDN'T BREATHE

I honestly used Gimp for a while and this brush was making me laugh so hard XD
A good screen recorder is OBS + if you wanted to you could stream with it!
Sorry for the late response. And how would you rank it because clearly I'm doing something wrong. And Firealpaca is great. Strong program and all. Mild complaint is the wand tool
I loved how she could tell her opinions without begin rude ✨✨👌

There's an option called "threshold" with the paint bucket tool. You likely had it on 1 or a low number. This is so that it can fill in blurred lines without leaving behind said white lines.
The trick for coloring with this program is to fuzzy-select the area to color, grow the selection so it passes the lines, then fill with the color of choice.
There is a "one-window" mode for Gimp
where?
I don't remember exactly since it's been a long time since I've used Gimp, but if I'm correct, next to filters (on top of the drawing window) there is a window panel you can open, this option should be here
It's under "Windows -> Single-Window Mode" on Mac.
but I have a pc
it should be the same on PC
I love your videos! They make me so happy and I look forward to them every week! Keep making great content! :)
This video introduced me to firealpaca which is my favourite program for drawing now!
