as a newish solo gamer, but also someone that likes small footprint games that can be setup and played in short amount of time, this video is spot on! to bad there arent that much fantasy themed games like these, always is a + in my book
Thanks for this video - especially coop games that can be made solo as my husband and I love to play but I often have more of an intense interest in playing for longer so having games we can either both play or I can then continue on solo to master in my own time are really gems for us! May I suggest just listing the games as well in the description as it helps those of us who make lists to buy these must have games when we go down YT rabbit holes 😁
Burgle Bros by Tim Fowers Games, is a favorite fun-to-play-solo game that has also stood the test of time with frequent appearances on my game table, in spite of constant competition from newer, shiny games entering my collection.
Burgle Bros is a great one. I tend to play it solo on Steam or BGA these days, but I really enjoy it. Nice pick! Thanks so much for checking out my video Nani! Have a great day!
Great recommendations! I definitely gotta get on the Cascadia train soon. Coincidentally, I got a copy of The Lost Expedition after watching your playthrough and it actually just arrived today, can't wait to play it! :)
That's great designiana. I hope you enjoy it. Please let us know what you think once you get it to the table. I'm always interested. I try to recommend games that I love but that I also think others will love as well. Thanks for watching!
I'm glad you liked the video. Definitely check out my playthroughs of Button Shy games on the channel like ROVE, Sprawlopolis, Naturopolis, The Last Lighthouse, A Nice Cuppa, The Royal Limited, and The Walking Dead: Surrounded. I'd also recommend my playthroughs of For Northwood, Confusing Lands, Conservas, Trailblazers, Tin Realm, En Route, Solar Sentinels, Cyberion, and Cafe -- all great short and quick games. I also made a Top 10 Next Step Solo Games list that might be helpful. Thanks so much for checking out my video! Have a wonderful day!

Thanks again for taking the time to comment. It always helps to hear that the hard work is paying off. Have a great day mdcs!
Great video! Sprawlopolis is phenomenal - I think it has the highest ratio of game quality to number of components of any game I own. Ridiculous amount of gameplay with just 18 cards. Did you consider Palm Island or Limes for this list? Both really quick, fun games that often come with me when I'm travelling.
Thanks Jay! I've never tried Palm Island but I do like Limes and its predecessor Cities. Those would have been good for the list for sure, although I'm not sure how available they are right now. Thanks for watching!
If I want a light weight solo I always go for "Horrified: Universal Monsters" or " Heat pedal to the metal". If I want to play hard I get a "Final Girl" game out.
Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked the video. I will be releasing playthroughs of all of these games (that don't already have playthroughs) over the next few days. Hope you find a game that you enjoy!
Thanks for checking out the video! Maquis was a bit too complex for this list, but weight is a very subjective thing. It is the same reason Friday and Coffee Roaster missed the list. I hope to do a playthrough of Maquis soon. It is fantastic.
@@geoffreyhawley503 You are probably right, it is as easy to learn as a few others I put on here. Definitely a great solo game. And I did a full playthrough to make up for not including it! 😃Thanks for watching Geoffrey!
Great list. Clean graphics and well demoed! I discovered solo at the end of COVID but have been playing more over the past year or so but haven’t heard of half of these games. I’m not interested in the large sprawling time consuming games like Mage Knight or Robinson Caruso, so this list is PERFECT for me with their generally small footprint. This gets a Sub from the first watch. I play Onirim occasionally but I Love Sprawlopolis with or without expansions (of which I acquired all). Aggopolis is just as you said, the same but different theme, although there is an expansion called Combopolis that allows you to combine them in one game. Rove is another great Button Shy game you should try although you should probably make a whole video on that publisher. My other small favs are Tin Helm (Iron Helm’s little brother), The Gate (their “cousin”?) and Doom Machine. For an even smaller footprint try One Card Dungeon. For no footprint, I’d recommend Palm Island. Great video. Looking forward to the next!
Thanks for the sub! I'm glad you enjoyed the list and I hope it helps you find a few more games you'll enjoy. I did a follow up list with 10 games that are just one step up in complexity, but still rather light. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/qzPKqjf9r5M/v-deo.html. I mention ROVE there, and I've done a full solo playthrough of it right here: ua-cam.com/video/gtj0WGcnj3g/v-deo.html. I've done a few other Button Shy games as well, including Naturopolis most recently: ua-cam.com/video/yxJbE2FLlnk/v-deo.html. I plan to do more and eventually do a Button Shy Top 10. I hope you continue to enjoy the channel and thank you so much for taking the time to comment and watch!
Yeah, I want to as well. Lost Expedition was the first video I filmed for the channel long ago. The system is so much fun. Thanks for checking out the list!
I like the look of Lost Expedition. It appeals to the kid in me as it reminds me strongly of the Tin Tin (and others) graphic books from my youth (54 now). Definitely have to look into it.
The art is beautiful and really pops on the oversized tarot cards. Great production by Osprey Games. I highly recommend it. Thanks for watching the video, Kirsten!
I think you would like it Nir. I'll have a Cafe playthrough out this week (on Thursday I think) so you can see it in action. Thanks for checking out the vid even though these aren't your kind of games. I appreciate that.
Definitely Keith. In fact I did a full solo playthrough on the channel a while back. I would not consider it simple or light. It is one or two steps up in complexity from what is on this list. But very much a game I recommend as well. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I would also suggest Space Hulk Death Angel it is very hard to get but it is a pertty interesting game that has a lot of game for such a small box! :)
Thank you for these. I’m a new gamer (solo) and was gifted Everdell. I haven’t opened yet bc I’m not sure it truly is for solo play--what do you think? Have you played it solo? Do you like it?
I hear Everdell is an excellent solo game, but I have not tried it yet. I am waiting for my copy to arrive from the latest KIckstarter. It might be a bit complex if you are new to board games, so I would find a good playthrough or rules video to help and be patient. Sometimes it can take a few plays before things click. If you try it, let us know what you think. Thanks Laura!
Thanks for checking out my channel Jonathan. I'm glad the video was helpful. Long Shot dice is really fun and works in a big group and solo, which makes it very unique. Thanks again!

Bought coffee roaster (niiiice!); cafe (cool); cascadia (easy and relaxing); tiny towns (harder but cool design and I like it) sprawlopolis (not for me) I had Friday but I can get around to learn it, something puts me off. Looking for more tips, bit more complex, not too huge (including setup) and not too long. Thinking about getting Viticulture, Cape May (artwork looks cool, town building), Maquis, Lisbao? I did like strategic, tycoon like computer games as a youngster. Agricola seems nice too but probably harder. Any suggestions? (I don’t like chess or too stressful things) Thanks for the great video’s.
I'm so happy to hear this! I'm thrilled my channel has helped you get into solo gaming. Viticulture is a great game and plays great solo. The Tuscany expansion really takes it to the next level. And the new Viticulture World expansion adds a co-op mode that I haven't tried yet, but looks interesting. I've done a video for Maquis -- it is a small, fun, puzzly game that I would recommend. And Friday really is a great little deckbuilder. Very tough but enjoyable. If you haven't watched already, I would recommend my videos for Ark Nova, Warps Edge, Resist!, Lost Ruins of Arnak, Cartographers, and Final Girl. Ark Nova has a bit of that tycoon feel. It is a bigger game but sets up and plays pretty quick as a solo. Arnak is maybe a bit bigger and longer than you are looking for. Honestly, any game that I've done a video playthrough for is a game I recommend, so long as the playthrough looks interesting to you. Hope that helps and thanks so much for watching!
