I learned to crochet from my mom as a young girl. I hadn’t done it in years but I discovered crocheted dishcloths and decided to try to crochet my own. I now have more dishcloths than I can use, as do my friends. I have moved on to scarves. I learned a lot from this video. Her method of holding the yarn is now my favorite. Looping the yarn around on your hook to keep it straight eliminated my previous failures at trying to crochet the scarf as a continuous loop. How she finishes the scarf is the best method I have seen yet. Great video!
I LOVE how you break it down. Finding the bunny ears. Grabbing your buddy and pulling him through. I’m 36 and that helped me tremendously, simple as it is. I’m visual learner, so you gave me something to compare and look for and you explained how and why the stitches look the way they do. Just a well done tutorial. Your kids are lucky to have a teacher like you!
Aww Thank you! These weird terms developed as I was teaching classes and it helps so much to understand which yarn to pull and when! Thank you for your sweet comment! I hope you keep crocheting forever!
@@GingerKnots i love the tip of putting the end of your work on the hook so stitches don't get tangled! long time crocheter but never heard or seen this before! thanks again:)!!

I’ve crocheted a number of scarves, both straight and infinity. They’ve all turned out great, but this one was the best. I really appreciated the transition instructions from one row to the next as well as the ending. Thank you for taking the time to give lots of details in those tricky areas. I’ll never need to watch another video on crocheting an infinity scarf again! Thank you very much!! (I can’t wait to make another . . . off to the store for more yarn . . . )
Your trick for keeping the beginning chain from twisting by slipping the first chain on the hook is such a time saver. I have no twisted chains when working in the round. Thank you! Merry 🎄 Christmas 2020.
Best tutorial! Your instructions were so easy to follow. The thing I loved and appreciated most was how to finish off the scarf. It was the I've ever done. It looked professional! Thank you!
I am so glad I found your tutorial! I have a bag of yarn from learning to knit, but thought I would try crochet and this scarf is perfect. Thank you for sharing this.
I love your teaching method. I’ve been trying to learn how to crochet for 2 months and couldn’t figure out what loop to go through. I’m great at chains though!!! Now I can finally make some of the Christmas gifts that I wanted to make! They’ll be a bit late but oh well. So glad I found your channel!!! THANK YOU!!! MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!🎄🎁
Excuse my language but this is the BEST FUCKIN crochet video ever! I have messed up sooo many projects trying to figure out how to keep the chains straight and not stitch hing twice in the same stitch and increasing. Thank so much. You are awesome
Thank you! Awesome tutorial and the tip on how to keep the chain straight, beautiful. I learned to crochet long ago, as a child and the way we hold the yarn (in São Tomé & Principe) is totally different and my back loops were always too tight until you showed me how to do it 😄. You just got a new subscription @ginger knots
Found you on tiktok, and have recently been wanting to take up crocheting again. Been a long time since I’ve done any, so I’ve completely forgotten how to do it 😅
I had used a P hook 11.5 mm Charisma Charisme 109 yards 3.5 oz skein. I went through one skein and a little of second skein. #J72 Cornflower / bulky 5. Beautiful Hughes of blue and grey and creme. I want to wear it with my denim jacket and jeans.
Hi there!, I'm gonna try your tutorial as it seems really easy, my question is as the chain keeps getting longer it does twist what do I do to keep it straight. I did what you suggested but as it grows it keeps twisting.
I wish you could clarify how the connect properly... mine kept getting g twisted and the small loop didn’t translate well to a larger one. I made a Möbius strip instead of a loop :P
I'm a beginner and I'm just learning I live in a very small and I mean small community it will this work for the infinity scarf needle I have a n 900 mm and the yarn that you suggested I don't have anything like that here I've tried Amazon on getting needles and every time I try to look for something it's always gone do you have any suggestions or will this needle work these needles I have that was passed down to me they're about 50 years old
I'm stuck I need help I did something wrong along the way but it looks pretty good so I rather just finish the start all over thought maybe u could help.
So I haven't gotten a chance to go back and listen for that yet, but I will. If what you're saying is true, I'll probably re-record it because that has to be so annoying. Shouldn't be water.. maybe the air vent??
I've always just slid the working chain onto the back of my hook instead of taking my chain off the hook to slid it on. Its easier for me so i didn't pull any of my stitches out sliding the chain on. Then to connect them, I pull a stitch from the front right thru the back stitch so u don't have to pull the chain off the back of the needle.
Takiyya Shaw Yes! The first image shows the finished scarf with 110 chains. It is wrapped around the neck twice. I'm not sure if it could wrap around any more. I'll have to give it a try!
It’s a good tutorial but I wish you had mentioned the circumference because I only had 4 ply stretchy yarn (that was probably thinner also) available so it was pretty hard to maintain the tension and I don’t think my 110 loops were the same size as yours... Also the part where you join the ends of the chain was so really hard to follow because you kept turning the chain and replacing your fingers awfully many times.
Absolutely! I would increase my starting chain by quite a bit for a lighter weighted yarn. Maybe add around 30-50 to your starting chain and see how long that is when wrapped twice!
Your stitches will just be a bit tighter. It should still look the same, but the scarf would end up a little smaller than the pattern. You can add some extra stitches to the beginning chain to fix that! Good luck!

Hello, thank you for your tutorial, it was very informative for a beginner like me :) I was just wondering how many rounds did you do for this scarf? Thank you ^^
Sample is too small to actually see the design to its fullest. Or could you show the actual finished cowl. Looks nothing like the thumb nail since soon tiny
It would have been nice if you had made one with us. Or if you did the mock one but then grabbed a completed scarf to reference. Your asking a beginner to picture something we haven't seen before. Lots of room for improvement here.
Of course there is room for improvement. I am not a professional UA-cam video maker. There is a picture of the scarf in the beginning of the video for reference.

Use size 6 - Super Bulky yarn
Use size 12 mm crochet hook
Now, if only I could get the size 6 yarn to work as easily as my smaller yarn 🤦🏻♀️

I'll be using your tutorial to learn to crochet in the round and im wondering how many skeins did you use for the scarf. Thank you.

Can you use a different thickness of yarn and a different size hook ? And happy new year
Thank you. I was able to follow your instructions. How do you add yarn to continue make the scarf bigger?
Search for "joining yarn with magic knots". That had helped me.... 🙂
This was so helpful, thank you!
Love the scarf!! Great tutorial 👍

How much yarn did you use?
I have about 300 yards and I'm looking for something I can make with ut
Great thanks very much 😁 Would this be chunky or super chunky yarn in the UK? Also how much would I need please? Xxx
I'm not sure about UK differences, but my guess would be chunky. I use 2 balls of this yarn so the yardage would just under 200 yards. ❤️
@@GingerKnots great thanks so much for your reply 💞
I’m just wondering, why did you do back loop only for the first round but then both loops for the rest?
How much yarn do you need to make a scarf?
I can’t believe how loose you work your chain stitch compared to me. I’ll have to pay closer attention to this on my next project!

Size N hook will work! Just avoid pulling tight on your stitches and it should work out
very helpful, thank you, id love to see the full scarf on video, not a screenshot on cover
How many balls of yarns did you use for this project?
if i were to half double crochet in the back loop only, do i take both loops when i do the slip stitch or just the back?
I would do both loops there. The join might get too stretched out if you go with one loop.
I'm stuck I need help I did something wrong along the way but it looks pretty good so I rather just finish the start all over thought maybe u could help.
Love it you take your time but kinda go ahead so that I won't go in blindfolded
How many chains if not using thick yarn

That's an excellent way to do it! I usually don't use this method and regret it when I'm trying to straighten out my chains. lol!
Such a good video
Thankyou 👏
could you share the size of the finished project, please?
Hi! Nice work. I'll try to do. Hugs.
This is awesome!
But my question is do you have to use a size P Hook or can you use the recommended hook size the package calls for?
If you use the recommend hook, the scarf wouldn't be as soft/squishy. So it wouldn't comform as well when you wear it.
Katie McBride
Oooooh I see. Now I have to hunt down and P hook and most places don’t sake that size
so sweet
Length of each ball - 266 mtr approximate; Needle size - UK 8(4mm), Crochet size UK 7(4.5mm) ... Is this size okay?
Is the first image the finished product of 110 chains? Also how many times can the scarf be wrapped around the neck with 110 chains?
Takiyya Shaw Yes! The first image shows the finished scarf with 110 chains. It is wrapped around the neck twice. I'm not sure if it could wrap around any more. I'll have to give it a try!
Ok perfect. Thank you :)
Using this to make a scarf for my mom. Did you say how much yarn is needed? I might have missed it.
Nevermind! I found it on your blog!
how much yarn did you use ? 200 grams or more-never mind i see you replied farther down .1and 1/2 balls 3.5 oz each
This was super easy to follow. My question to you, in the video you show a scarf, how many rows is that scarf?
If I remember correctly, I think it's 9 rows to get to the thickness pictured. I always make a row and try it on to see how fluffy it is!
@@GingerKnots Awesome Thank you!!

Is this ladies coil scarf?
Gracias pero puedes poner con pluma y papel las cadenas que son place thank
Would a thinner yarn still work with this?
Absolutely! I would increase my starting chain by quite a bit for a lighter weighted yarn. Maybe add around 30-50 to your starting chain and see how long that is when wrapped twice!
thank you so much!
I want to do one for my boyfriend is that okay that i do this in black and give it to him ?!
Absolutely! I always have a tough time with black yarn. It's so hard to see!
I don't have an 11.5mm hook. Would it be ok if I made this scarf using a 10mm hook? Would it turn out ok?
Your stitches will just be a bit tighter. It should still look the same, but the scarf would end up a little smaller than the pattern. You can add some extra stitches to the beginning chain to fix that! Good luck!
