  • Steven Guilbeault, the federal minister of environment and climate change, participates in a news conference in Ottawa after meeting with his provincial and territorial counterparts as well as national Indigenous organizations. The two-day gathering was held to discuss collaboration on conservation, wildlife, and biodiversity. Nathan Cullen, British Columbia minister of water, land and resource stewardship, also speaks with reporters.
The minister is asked about his party's recent byelection loss in the longtime Liberal stronghold of Toronto-St. Paul's and about Justin Trudeau's leadership. He also faces questions on other issues including the continued provincial opposition to the government's carbon price, and Export Development Canada's approval of up to $500 million in financing to the proposed Cedar liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility in B.C.
