I have never heard a real discussion as to whether or not carbon taxes have sound basis or whether they are just theoretically effective but have outside effects that are not understood or maybe are understood. Its always a pre-ample about climate change then no answer and no actual debate or discussion about whether the policy actually works.

Carbon tax is another consumption tax. We already have a consumption tax: A sales tax. Why? Because during his tenure your daddy, Pierre Trudeau, increased deficit. He also increased Canada's debt by 739%. In order to eliminate those deficits the next PM Brian Mulroney implemented goods and services taxes. Provinces soon followed suit and implemented their own GSTs. Few years ago those taxes were harmonized. Thus prices of many products went up. Why don't you take part of the GST and allocate towards fighting imaginary human-made global warming? You don't lead by example. You inherited millions of dollars from your grandfather who owned thirty gas stations in Montreal. You leave a huge carbon footprint by jetting to a billionaire's private island using tax payers' money. You jet from Ottawa to Kitchener for Oktoberfest. In this country we pay 43.2% in taxes. It is sad when you have to blame someone else for your inability to provide for yourself and your family. I raised a family, with a stay at home mom, with no career, no full time job and very few skills, because I learned to manage money. Either one has to increase income, or decrease expenses. Living on Credit Cards, Payday loans, driving new cars and owning toys does not mean you are destitute, it just means you suck at managing money. Quit blaming Trudeau or your mailman(because he brings the bills) for your issues. geeeesh. My son is currently building a Million dollar home for his wife and baby. He isn't concerned about taxes, though he probably pays more in taxes than you earn. LOL

After that long convoluted answer on climate change, he never did answer the question the man asked. We produce less carbon than our forests take away. Other huge polluters will continue as they wish and drive this problem. Noone argues that Climate Change is a problem, but adding a tax on already overtaxed Canadians is not the answer. Call it a price on pollution, or whatever you like, but it is a tax that will affect most Canadians at all levels. Home heating, fuel for vehicles, grocery costs, everything. At the same time you are doing this, you have given most of the largest polluters in Canada a pass, and simply hammered average Canadians once again. His elitist pals have all been given a pass. A lecture from this buffoon does little to make this tax any more palliative. He says he is doing all of this for honorable reasons, but he has lied since the day he was elected, and from the looks of it, this is just more of the same.
