- Ordered coober ECU to remove closed loop problem with EURO 5 models.
In this video i will explaine the differences between stock and upgraded KTM 690 SMC r.
www.coober.eu/product/ktm-690...
Had mine for 2 weeks now on my 2021 690, have a Remus muffler and Uni filter modified air snorkel all i can say after having a fuel dongle for 6 months there is no comparision, goes so much harder down low and no jerkiness anywhere love it... :)
Sounds good! How many km's have you ridden the bike with the Coober LM unit now? Still no faults?
@@kjdewolff 500klm not faults or problems
I have a fuel dongle on and its hard to tell if its dping anything.
@@Rspence_86 Hi Rob i had a Kevs fuel dongle first not much difference, then I got one from the UK that was better, but the Coober ecu is the way to go for a 2021 euro 5 bike would recommend it to anybody
@@Rspence_86 You cant expect much with a dumb 5 cent resistor, thats what most of the fueling dongles are.
Have it on my 22 Euro 5 EU Model and love it!
Do you have any other mods besides the Coober box?
Hi,are you glad with coober ecu?
Is it programmed based on a completely standard/stock setup? (full exhaust system OEM, OEM filter, original mapping and OEM gearing) Or it adjusts accordingly with aftermarket parts?
Are you Happy, with this ecu today?
Nice video! I've been driving with it for a few weeks now. I had to do a idle reset after mounting it because it was running extremely rich. After that things ran perfect. I recently did a decat and after that I had to do another idle reset. It has been running great ever since! Throttle is more predictable at low rpm no more jerkyness. Engine still tends to stall at low rpm but that is pure 1 cylinder characteristics
Thanks!
Stalling happens also because the gearing is long. If you compare with enduro motorcycles or motocross then the idle speed is usually between 5 to 10 km/h.
For me it seems that performance gets better in time. When I am on second gear and accelerate wide open from low rev its doing easy power wheelies. It didnt do it so easily before.

@@kjdewolff I've ridden over 1200km so far. I don't expect fault codes because the module is mimicking the o2 sensor. Regular plugs only have a resistor which throws a code eventually. Although US models seem less strict
@@wheeltainment7608 Yeah will have to see if I'm dropping a few tooths.
@@VirtueelGamingNL You have a US model?
Nice! Did you notice improved torque and power in the lower rpm range? Below 5k rpm?
I was so used to drive at higher rpm range. I had to relearn that its possible to drive on the second and third gear in thight enviroments. After the upgrade I made some tests and its possible to cruise at 50km/h with 4th gear. Before the upgrade it wasnt possible. However if you want to accelerate from 50km/h, still its advised to go for a 3rd gear. The biggest difference is that its so smooth at medium- low to middle rpm range. I made some more testing my stock intake and exhaust vs Arrow exhaoust and open airfilter. I will make another video later how it went. Is your bike stock or have you done any mods?
@@wheeltainment7608 ahaa, looking forward to your test with open air filter and arrow exhaust. I have the arrow exhaust on my bike as well and am going to install an open air filter soon. Great to hear that the bike is a lot smoother down low!
@@wheeltainment7608 Are you planning to upload another video with mods?
@@kjdewolff Yes I didnt find any stock 690s but here it is ua-cam.com/video/XSOHm_jLlFI/v-deo.html
Hi ! I also have a euro 5 with wings exhaust and can’t stand the fact that you have to feather the clutch and Rev the bike to cruise in the city when the traffic is dense for example. Even in second gear when you want to accelerate there is a moment between the slow speed and the acceleration, and the acceleration is sudden.
Does installing the coober unit solve this problem? Are you still happy with it? I am considering buying the one Wings make (it’s set for use with their exhausts and it’s also using a coober platform).
Thanks 😊
Are they selling a simple lambda emulator for 399?
i have a 2022 smc r can i delete the db eater with this box without running lean? and mine also has 35kw is it ok with this coober box ?
I think it is ok, but I suggest to remap the ECU if you want to open up the engine exhaust or intake. Other ways you will lose bottom torque and maybe gain a little at top. This coober ECU all it dose it makes the throttle response feel better at lower RPM and is not so jerky to drive. I thnik it is ment mostly for stock bikes. If upgrading other componenst then ECU rempa is advised.
Is Coober ECU is compatible with the 2022 model?
I emailed coober about this but havent gotten a response. I ask since I'm pickingup a 2022 in 2 weeks.
Also interested if it works on 2022 models.
Yes it works with 2022 Euro 5 engines. Europe models.Tested by myself.
@@wheeltainment7608 Awsome, how do you experience the difference? Worth it
@@wheeltainment7608 Awsome! How do you experience the diferrence ?
So… help me to understand a bit how this work. This things it between the lambda sensor and the ECU only ?
So it only correct when the lambda is used ?
Meaning only working during the the closed loop ?
Meaning only correct the low revs behavior ?
Meaning it does exactly what does a O² optimizer (or fuel dongle for the old LC4 engine based bikes ) ?
I am not impressed at all to be honest. Better get tune and no additionnal hardware.
Yes it is almost correct. It will change close loop performance. Definetly remap is an good alternitivei if you are going to tune. For this unit its good because it dosent use set values. If you decat your bike later it will learn from the 02 sensor and optimize the mixture to let engine be an engine. Its little bit smarter device then fuel dongle. For remap you need to know excatly what hardware are you going to use. This unit is not ment to give you ton of performance but delete the euro emission values to provide better driveabilty. As stated on this video, it should have come from the factory this way. In my opnion if you are planning to remap your bike its not worth of buying it but most of people dosent care about remaping, for them I think its worth it.
@@kristjant.7782 Appreciate the feedback. Too bad it does the exact same thing than the O² optimizer that cost… 60 bucks.
@@4sstylz O2 optimizer usually increase 5% richer in the bottom. This divice calibrates the mixture by data. It is little bit better if you want to make small upgrades like exhaust (decat) and air lid. At the moment for EURO 5 engines there arent any working budget optimizer. New ECU will detect it and give you error codes. But I get your point for 400€ you can get a tune. 👍
@@wheeltainment7608 I actually run a O² optimizer. Yes they add 5% of fuel in the bottom or while idle (even at medium speed while cruising). It does a lot. Especially in city or during off-road. I don't have « slow speed jerkiness » like with the oem. So… to me, it does the job very well.
@@4sstylz Nice to hear. What engine do you have?
Had it for few days bike definitely worked better, but today it felt like ecu reset itself and bike is back to low rpm jerkiness and heating like crazy. Can you please notify me in comment if you get similar problem. Thanks
Hey,
So far I havent felt this kind of performance drop. Did engine light turned on? I have heared storyes that if it was in prototype stage it had some issues. How many kilometers have you traveled after the installation? I have traveled maybe 100km at the moment. Do you have some more mods done to your bike? It is good info if this early patch have some kind of issues.
@@wheeltainment7608 around 100km. I have full Tekmo set.
When did you get yours because the shipment started at 28th 07. The others just were Prototypes thats what i know.
@@Daniel-ro4ex I preorder the one that they shipped "28.7." Tomorrow I will send them back and they said they will send me new one and check what is going on with current one that I have.
@@littleflower1904 okay. Let me knew if the new one works fine.
i think same effect can be achieved with just adding small resistor to throttle wire
Nope.
@@Szlejer yes it is, throttle body is just a variable resistor _(based on two metal lamellas or Hall effect)_
Hello, today installed mine. After install did 15 minutes (20 to be sure) idle reset. First start OK, did 50km no problem. Second start and I got orange check engine light, when riding. Unit shipped in 10/2022. Bike is 2022 EU model with Wings exhaust. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Is your Box with extra cable to Battery (Ground) ?
@@umbertobremen6315 Hello, Umberto, yes. Extra cable, that is connected to ground.
I have at the moment 2 bikes running with this and we did not get any engine lights. One is stock and other intake and exhaust.
@@wheeltainment7608 Hello, Wheel Tainment! I followed your instructions in video, have same bike. Did you do ECU reset?
Hello, all. Just update - today I reinstalled stock exhaust, did ECU reset. Then installed Coober, now everything is working as shown in video. Much smoother drive with little bit more kick! My Wings exhaust seems not to be compatible with Coober, maybe their version is modded to their specifics...
[Update]: Next day - engine orange light, unit not working again (1st day OK, 2nd day cold start = happened again).
it's not _jerkiness_ - it's a _horse mode_ !
