This video.. Has brought my sanity back! I tried damn near everything to fix this DS Lite I have, and nothing had worked. I went and tested my board along with yours, and about the time you got it working after replacing the power chip, is about where I was going to call it (I didn't want to break out the solder iron and hot air gun to remove the game cart slot to reflow the underside and replace that power chip yet).. Then I kept watching for white noise, and you stumbled on the alcohol blob... I tried that and for the first time I saw signs of life. I'm going to be ordering some jumper wire and hooking up that line in the very near future. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the upload. I just bought a batch from ebay that needs repairs and will be checking out your clips for help. PS, this is the first time i see someone post a side view bga chip reflow and the focus was amazing
my board doesn't have continuity as per time stamp 10:35... does that mean the cpu need reflow? it appears that circuit is on the backside of the board? best regards!!
No, it's not sold free. If this Mitsumi-Chip is just a re-branded item of a standard-part, can be. I checked about 30 different chips and did not find a similar one. With the "right to repair", this will change, hopefully. Until this, it's Nintendo's policy, you shall buy a new Nintendo instead of repair. But also keep in mind, the design is 20 years old. It's likely that it's quite impossible to buy new chips.

The power management IC is not available. That was not the issue with this device. The issue was broken traces in the board.
