The funniest thing about Ash's strategies is how he just thinks of them during his battles, he doesn't ever invent them before his battles or practices them. I still love Ash's strategies though, never fails to impress me.
He did in Sinnoh with the spin dodge and counter shield, which were some of his best strats and the fact that he actually had to come up with and practice them before battles really went to show just how capable of preparation Ash actually was, which nowadays it's something that seems to have been almost completely forgotten about.
Honestly, I just wish Thunder Armor had come back. His Swellow's strange resistance to electricity had been a thing from the first time they met back when it was a Tailow.
I really think the strategy has more merit than people give it credit for. Swellow being able to willpower through electric attacks has been one of it's known features since before Ash caught it. And electric types getting a power up from electricity has been a thing since episode 2 when Pikachu got powered up with a pedal bike. Plus, if infernape is any indication, how a pokemon's ability manifests varies from individual to individual. There's plenty of precedent for this strategy working.

Ash's Swellow must have the Guts ability, which boosts Swellow's Attack by 50 percent if it's suffering from a status condition. Thunder Armor was simply Swellow being paralyzed but getting a turn where it wasnt fully paralyzed.

Ash can invent new moves during matches. What a genius! I also like when he imitates moves by using his pokemon's moves. Like using Sirfecth's shield for imitating rapid spin to clear rocks or using iron tail on ground to imitate eartquake for countering dig. Even Serena could counter dig by copying Ash's tactics.
I was today years old that I found out that Swellow was technically paralyzed during the thunder armor battle and that it’s attack power was increased thanks to guts.🥴
Tbh I do have this feeling that ash might use G-max pikachu in his final battle with leon... As much as it sounds weird it could be true as it was kinda foreshadowed in the beginning of the series!! It makes no sense for him to use G-max gengar in the biggest battle of his life(don't take me wrong as I'm not saying that gengar is weak).. He should either be using his season ace lucario Or his G.O.A.T pikachu for a battle this big... It would only make sense if all 3 gimmicks are used only then G-MAX gengar makes sense!!!

You didn't mention the worst part of the Elesa battle. He went in with only Palpitoad, and left. But when he came back... he had full faith in Snivy. When Snivy fell, Ash was fully ready to run off to the pokemon center to get another pokemon to use until Pikachu basically forced his way into the battle. Which means Ash learned NOTHING from his loss with Palpitoad about overcommitting into one pokemon
before i watch, im pretty sure when pikachu used the energy ball + iron tail .. that was really weird cause it was at the same time in the "same turn" right?

Remember the first (was it the first?) contest of May when her Beautifly lost because she took too much time to think during her battle? She lost some turns although she technically was allowed to make a move.

Man I miss the days Ash actually had to come up and practice some of these crazy strategies BEFORE his battles instead of just pulling them out of his ass during them like he does all the time nowadays. Be it the Spin Dodge or Counter Shield or even using different Pokémon for specific opponents in the league back in Sinnoh or the Rock Tomb Climb back in Kalos, these were all genius techniques he actually had to come up with in preparation for a specific match and showed us just how capable of actual preparation he is, which is something that's been almost completely forgotten about these days.
There were some strategies that he practiced beforehand for example the countershield. But I think these moments are memorable because of these strategies.
Heracros wings divert the flames around it.... Guts plus STAB is a 2.25 boost on an already 120 bp move from a Pokemon with a base atk of 125... If fully invested with a favorable nature against a possibly uninvested defense, it's gonna hit hard.
As insane as the NSane trilogy (of Crash Bandicoot), Ash has had some logic-breaking battles (even by Pokémon standards). And I'm looking forward to the full Taiwan story.

In fairness though, this was the generation that introduced abilities to the games, I can completely understand that a writer wouldn't quite understand how to showcase Guts as an ability so they did what they did with Thunder Armor. But yeah they should've mentioned it, to make more sense of it.
Well the only way Ash can defeat Leon's Plot Armor is the Thunder Armor...or his Lord Heracross who can take fire spins on the face & could punch Leon's Charizard with his Plot Armored Mega Horn....by the way great to see your own journey too Charles....reminds me of my London trip!!!
Well to be fair the aim for the horn trick he did it twice he did it first on Brock's Onix he probably just realize it again, Theres also the draco meteor climb but my fav. Tactic that left Barry speechless was the counter shield it drove Barry mad since fantina beat Barry and ash just made it seem easy to beat fantina's strat early game.

More importantly, Dragonite was going belly down, yet was caught by the back, that makes no sense. Ash should have been disqualified on the spot for leaving the gym and going to the center to get another Pokémon after his only one was defeated.
Honestly.... Half of these are just cases of them REALLY wanting to make Ash stupid. I do not know why the schtick of the main character being a moron is so endearing. But there are LOTS of times even in the current series that Ash just seems to go between brilliant stratagem and Totally acting like a brand new trainer who never heard of the rules or types or anything. Its a bit frustrating really. Id chalk the other half of these to for a while the animators and show creators did not really care much about the game world and ignored/ took huge liberties with the content. This changed a little once Pokemon became such a HUGE franchise. And its fan base made clear they were a little more demanding. Even the very young ones. But for a while it was treated like any other kids anime. Consistency and reliance on source material was never really a problem. Till it was. Over all I chalk it up to the same things that make Luffy the dumbest guy with the most Awkward questions. Or Goku the absolute idiot on anything not fighting related. Or a large list of Shonen male protag being idiots. Just sort of one of those things they do. Its honestly like a Smart Young male lead in a anime for kids to young adults that is also light hearted is a rare thing.

That was a random thought but hear me out. Everyone knows that ashes dream since the start with only pikachou was to become a pokemon master and this match will determine if this dream comes true. So wouldnt this be the perfect timing for pikachou to evolve in to raichou ( if it ever happens this would be the perfect time). If so that would be the gratest battle in anime history and the best closing to ashes journeys as well😍😍
I think it will never happen. Pikachu is too much the face of the franchise as they could afford switching it out with something else. They maybe could switch Satoshi out for another protagonist, but they certainly will never switch out Pikachu. And if they do, that it will be Pokémons downfall.

Ash battle strategy’s are fun to watch and pure genius a lot of the tones. However a lot of them are insane and make no sense and ash has a lot of dumb moments too. Like ash is awesome and all. However there lot of times ash does stuff that has me facepalming. That moment in B$W was especially frustrating when ash was being so dumb. That episode had me FaceTiming lots lol. Like ash you took down two of Tobias Pokémon in DP arc then you act stupid in BW like ash really lol. I remember FaceTiming lots when that episode aired and I saw it. I’m like WHAT!!! Also I don’t see this next one talked about a lot but against Mina when she finally becomes trial caption of poni island and is ground type user. It works for ash somehow but she uses mudsdale and somehow ash uses a splash of water like soak to get it kinda wet to make it weak to electric attacks as without soak or ability etc it wouldn’t work in the genre lol. However it worked for ashy boy lol

Or C the writers decided to let him win but yeah that Fire Blast against Heracross I was like wth what is happening I also won’t forget the match Onyx vs Pikachu ok in the game I could win with Pikachu but with sand-attacks and I think leer and I was very lucky
Two of my favorite times weren't in the video, so here we go. Both from the XY series, first was in his battle against Valerie, the Fairy gym leader. She sets up Trick Room and and has her Spritzee speeding around with Gyro Ball, and Ash has his Hawlucha grab onto the speeding pokemon, and use its momentum to launch itself at the walls of the Trick Room, while using X-Scissor to somehow attack the Trick Room and take it down (because Bug is strong against Psychic). The other was during the League, I don't remember which match, but Pikachu was fighting Aegislash and he had PIkachu grab a rock with his tail while in midair (debris from an attack? a Stealth Rock? I don't remember) and toss it into the slot that Aegislash sticks its sword part into when changing forms, thereby preventing it from being able to change forms and use King's Shield.

The issue with rydon was actually that the episode was made during gen 1 and didn't have lightning rod.
That episode was the reason why that ability exists. It's funny that the second time he aims for the horn, it doesn't work. And it's on a Seaking.

This changed a little once Pokemon became such a HUGE franchise. And its fan base made clear they were a little more demanding. Even the very young ones. But for a while it was treated like any other kids anime. Consistency and reliance on source material was never really a problem. Till it was.
Over all I chalk it up to the same things that make Luffy the dumbest guy with the most Awkward questions. Or Goku the absolute idiot on anything not fighting related. Or a large list of Shonen male protag being idiots. Just sort of one of those things they do. Its honestly like a Smart Young male lead in a anime for kids to young adults that is also light hearted is a rare thing.

personally i love your vids especially the editing and like how much effort u put into the vid as a whole. But in my opinion i think that when you talk about a scene maybe have a 5 sec part of that scene? for example in this vid u talked about ash strategies, why dont you show the actual clip where it was used, a 5 second long clip?
That was a random thought but hear me out. Everyone knows that ashes dream since the start with only pikachou was to become a pokemon master and this match will determine if this dream comes true. So wouldnt this be the perfect timing for pikachou to evolve in to raichou ( if it ever happens this would be the perfect time). If so that would be the gratest battle in anime history and the best closing to ashes journeys as well😍😍
I think it will never happen. Pikachu is too much the face of the franchise as they could afford switching it out with something else. They maybe could switch Satoshi out for another protagonist, but they certainly will never switch out Pikachu. And if they do, that it will be Pokémons downfall.

Ash battle strategy’s are fun to watch and pure genius a lot of the tones. However a lot of them are insane and make no sense and ash has a lot of dumb moments too. Like ash is awesome and all. However there lot of times ash does stuff that has me facepalming. That moment in B$W was especially frustrating when ash was being so dumb. That episode had me FaceTiming lots lol. Like ash you took down two of Tobias Pokémon in DP arc then you act stupid in BW like ash really lol. I remember FaceTiming lots when that episode aired and I saw it. I’m like WHAT!!!

Also I don’t see this next one talked about a lot but against Mina when she finally becomes trial caption of poni island and is ground type user. It works for ash somehow but she uses mudsdale and somehow ash uses a splash of water like soak to get it kinda wet to make it weak to electric attacks as without soak or ability etc it wouldn’t work in the genre lol. However it worked for ashy boy lol

My son Ash is a genius, which is why he is the 2nd strongest trainer in the world, which may or may not get retconned in the coming Gen.
Two of my favorite times weren't in the video, so here we go. Both from the XY series, first was in his battle against Valerie, the Fairy gym leader. She sets up Trick Room and and has her Spritzee speeding around with Gyro Ball, and Ash has his Hawlucha grab onto the speeding pokemon, and use its momentum to launch itself at the walls of the Trick Room, while using X-Scissor to somehow attack the Trick Room and take it down (because Bug is strong against Psychic). The other was during the League, I don't remember which match, but Pikachu was fighting Aegislash and he had PIkachu grab a rock with his tail while in midair (debris from an attack? a Stealth Rock? I don't remember) and toss it into the slot that Aegislash sticks its sword part into when changing forms, thereby preventing it from being able to change forms and use King's Shield.
At least those thinks kinda make sense, thunder armor, the horn thing and some of the other stuff mentioned in the video makes no goddamn sense
