Sarasota Police Honor Guard & Traffic Unit Honor Retired Sarasota Police Lieutenant Joseph Munyak

The Sarasota Police Department Honor Guard and members of the Traffic Unit were humbled to give a final escort and 21 gun salute for Retired Sarasota Police Lieutenant Joseph Munyak at the Sarasota National Cemetery on Monday, April 25, 2022.
Lt. Munyak served and protected the City of Sarasota for 27 years from 1961 to 1987 (ID #131). He was instrumental in forming the Sarasota Police Department SWAT, Dive Rescue and Recovery Team, Marine Patrol, and many other Special Operations at the agency now. Lt. Munyak served with the Air Force Strategic Air Command for four years, was stationed at MacDill Air Force base, and lived in Florida for most of his life.
