- Emmanuel Macron has said that sending Western ground troops to Ukraine could not be “ruled out” at a meeting convened to ramp up Europe’s support for Kyiv.
“There is no consensus at this stage... to send troops on the ground,” the French president said. “Nothing should be excluded. We will do everything that we must so that Russia does not win.”

A) Iraq war 2003 wasn't about territorial expansion because the locals wanted to speak a different language and follow a non-christian religion B) Putin tried regime change in Ukraine with no international backlash and in 2004 it caused a popular national uprising to counter it, he has spent the last decade trying to get regime change in East Ukraine using armed forces with little international backlash and in 2014 he made a land grab for Crimea to redraw national borders again with little international backlash and that success meant he tried to do that to the entirety of Ukraine.
The problem with your comparison is that the Iraq population did not like the authoritarian leadership of Saddam Hussein who had committed UN defined genocide on some ethnic groups in Iraq using chemical weapons, again another UN redline that the international community did nothing about. Saddam Hussein also caused decades of suffering to the population by fighting a pointless expensive war with Iran over territorial dispute and then tried a land grab by invading Kuwait to get access to the Persian gulf which caused the first "gulf war" which had almost full international support and large global military engagement, the 2nd Iraq war was a continuation of that unresolved business due to Arab states becoming uneasy about removing someone who resembled their own authoritarian image in the first gulf war (it was a missed opportunity in hindsight).
So in your comparison it is Putin and not Zelensky who mirrors Saddam Hussein and it is a shame that the world can not group together to create a large international force to kick Putin out of Ukraine and then remove him from power like they did ultimately to Saddam Hussein after he invaded Kuwait.
