Indexing the plugs will make no difference at all. The fuel air mix is compressed before the plug ignites it so it wont be flowing through the plug gap, just squished into it.
@@car_ventures surely it would cost nothing if the tool that cut the flat stock cut it with a rounded cut as opposed to a straight cut, I'm not disagreeing with you just trying to make sense of it
@RichardHoldener did some dyno tests on how much difference indexing can make. ua-cam.com/video/5lFxYzpYeig/v-deo.html This is on a gasoline engine, wonder if he'll also do a test on methanol fuel
Richard Holdener is a blogger ( clown)who did everything wrong in his experiment but love to make a statements as like he is the final institution :) He used old set of even different brands spark plugs and indexed them with indexing washers , which is wrong since it change the spark plug reach and the heat range and this do lower the power output ! I’m even surprised that he achieved the same power levels both times. On the other hand you get the things right , except the use of indexing washers ! The proper way of indexing is by trying few different spark plugs ( usually 1of 3 matches the proper position) per cylinder. Another million dollars question is how we can find the proper spark plug orientation for any particular engine , because if we index the plugs in wrong direction the result will be even less power , responsiveness and smoothness than randomly mounted ,without indexing spark plugs . Here is a video which explain very well the benefits of indexing and the reason why many of the fresh models cars using factory indexed spark plugs ua-cam.com/video/r_zmA6Q0cQ4/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/hFcaZ0ckmFs/v-deo.html

indexing is done to stop the in coming fuel mixture washing over the electrode. its a must do on high performance methanol engines ect
That's interesting and the more I think about it probably right
@tthams73 I see, will have to think on that one tonight! Thanks for another angle (literally) on the subject, could get intresting! 👍
@tthams73 what are twin plug heads trying to achieve, an answer to this problem?

Thanks for the additional insight on methanol engines!
Very cool, never knew that about spark plugs
The more you know :)
Why don't spark plugs come with rounded tips then?
I would imagine cost to be a leading factor. A piece of flat stock would be more universal and easy
