Emma your drumming is awesome. I'm learning drums after 30 years experience in electric guitar and I think your lessons are extremely good and useful. Thanks a lot. Greetings from Siberia🇷🇺🎉
I played drums in my bedroom in the 90s with zero instruction. Your short, focused lessons would have been so great to have.
I have been playing for 30+ years but I'm really only a hack and never learned to play "properly" but this is one fill I've always wanted to learn. I've been bashing away at it for a couple of months since watching your brilliant explanation and I'm (at best) about 50% as fast as you.
Not giving up though.
That is indeed a great fill.
However: going off of the most common rudiment names used, the rudiment you're showing in the beginning is not a six stroke roll, it's a right hand lead paradiddle-diddle. It's true that, if you shift the pattern along one note, you get a six stroke roll sticking, but you'll end up with a left hand lead six stroke roll, when the fill you're showing is also right hand lead.
Another common distinction between paradiddle-diddles and six stroke rolls is the accent pattern (Rlrrll for a paradiddle diddle and RllrrL for a six stroke roll).
Funny, I just learned this 6-stroke roll this week from my teacher. RllrrLRllrrL
I kept messing this up for a long time but if I were to get technical about it a six stroke role, to my knowledge anyway, is also just an inverted left-hand-led paradiddle-diddle....Bit of a mouthful.
In pipeband this is how six stroke rolls are played. Love your site
Absolutely lovely execution of a fill I've never quite got hold of
Really enjoy your vids, might recommend boosting your audio; sometimes hard to hear...
Cheers Em.
Great Motown fill.
Now time for the practice pad to come out
🤙🥁
All your videos are very informative, beginner or not 🥁😁
"Mow way " It's that simple.
It’s a paradiddle-diddle right
The fill is a six stroke roll and her "six stroke roll" is a paradiddle-diddle yes lol
I've never understood why fills are often play with double although you can play it with singles, what is the matter ?
Sounds so groovy
But please... for a thick skull like myself ..... please could you slow it down bit more 😅
