- In today's episode of Spider-Man 2, we track down and try to free Dr. Connors, watch as our boyfriend dies, we pass around a parasitic buddy who has attachment issues, party with Kraven's lackeys and then we feed and pet his Tiger. We do some science with Harry, struggle with a slipstream mission for way too long, visit Miles' Dad and we return some instruments.

I was surprised that she started with the Telltale games of all things to get into Batman video games. I like those games but Arkham is just next level.

If you press L3 and R3 at the same time when the yellow in the top right under the webs is full then you'll use the ultimate ability that was used when Peter first got the "suit" from Harry after it saved him when he got stabbed. And if you look at the skill tree you can unlock even more special abilities and not just the punch and blast

The MJ gameplay in this game is _soooo_ much better than the first, and you're so right, it feels _very_ TLOU. MJ's not quite as badass as Ellie, but I love the vibes of this section. Your instinct about Symkarian sounding Russian is spot on. The country's supposed to be an ex Soviet Union territory, so it's got that same Slavic feel to the language. (According to Reddit, the game version might be modified Hungarian?)

My best recommendation is either buying & downloading the PC Steam version of Days Gone or download the original PS4 version but installing it on the PS5's hard drive SSD for better 60fps performance & faster load times.

This was, as ever, an absolutely wonderful time, Tor. It was fun, engaging, adorable, thoughtful, and heartfelt with just a dash of sauciness sprinkled throughout - the Tofu Special in many ways. And much like when I'm playing the game along with you, you make for wonderful virtual company while I work on a drawing (you know the one [I really thought it'd be finished by now, honestly]).
Your reaction to the beginning of the MJ stealth mission was almost unbearably cute. There's this sweet, positive vibe that comes with you getting excited about something like that that just lights my heart up like you wouldn't believe. I do have to say, though, I feel like if I had a dollar for every time something reminded you of The Last of Us, well, I'd probably be able to afford any tier of your Patreon my heart desired for as long as your Patreon continues to exist. Not that I'm complaining or criticizing, mind you. Your love for TLoU and the way you see echoes of it in so much other media are both genuinely as sweet as they are endearing, and I love the way you light up when something brings it to mind for you. As for the mission itself, I've mentioned this before, but it's always interesting to watch how differently from me you approach those stealth sections - whether as Peter, MJ, or Miles. I tend to be *very* slow and methodical, while you just kind of go for it. You tend to get caught and have to restart more, but I somehow usually take way longer to actually make my way through an area. I know some people get weirdly uppity when someone doesn't play a game the way they do, but personally, I really enjoy seeing someone do things their own way and/or in ways I might never have done them myself. Also, as far as the accents of Kraven's hunters go: I think the idea is that Kraven's recruited ostensibly the best from around the world. So, my best guess is that they just went with a couple kind of nebulously foreign accents to represent that rather than doing additional recording for a lot more distinct ones.
Speaking of Kraven, I honestly kind of hate that they went the route they did with him killing some of Spider-Man's villains. I mean, it definitely works in the context of the story they're telling, and I have to assume they never intended to use any of those villains in meaningful roles again anyway. But, I don't know, it also just kind of bums me out a little *knowing* we'll never get to see them again in this continuity. From a moral standpoint, though, it is an interesting conflict. As you noted, it comes down balancing the scales between the apparent net good of having those villains disposed of and whether or not you can justify Kraven just wantonly and callously ending someone's life. Someone who in some cases may not even be a killer - Black Cat was originally on his list too after all - and possibly someone who might not be beyond redemption and growth. Also, I mean, it's not like he's doing this out of any kind of sense of justice or moral righteousness. It's purely a personal motivation, and he clearly doesn't care who gets hurt in the process be they villain or civilian. I forget if I've mentioned it or not, but I really do love how Kraven is handled in this game overall. Both to this point and as the story progresses. He's focused, driven, and a massive existential threat to just about anyone in his crosshairs including Spider-Man himself. Incidentally, your reaction to Peter's "death" was simply devastating to witness. I seriously can't see tears form in your eyes without having them form in mine too.
So, those slipstream missions... They sure can be let's say *frustrating*. I appreciate the idea of them, but even when you have a handle on how things control in those segments, it can still be really easy to lose the slipstream on a sharp turn and have to spend an inordinate amount of time finding your way back into it - and that's assuming the bird doesn't get away in the process. That said, I'm glad you didn't give up. It was cathartic in a way seeing you finally catch the bird. So much so I actually, literally popped out of my chair and applauded without even thinking about it when your meter hit 100%.
On the topic of you not giving up, though, I'm glad you've gotten better about not letting puzzles and challenges get you down or make you feel stupid. I've told you many times, Tor, but you really are one of the smartest, sharpest, cleverest people I know. Your brain - not unlike my own - just works... differently than most. Sure there are things that take us longer to connect with or pick up on, but there are equally areas where normal people take just as long with things that seem beyond obvious and simple to us. It's just unfortunate that, you know, the things they're better at are things society tends to focus on more. Something I've noticed in some older videos - including your playthrough of Spider-Man (2018) - is you being just one or two little steps from figuring a puzzle out then giving up either because you're frustrated with yourself or worried about the viewer getting bored or annoyed. Those moments always makes me a little sad, honestly. You deserve to cut yourself a little slack and you deserve patience from both yourself and the viewer. Thankfully, to the point you made about your own maturation, I've seen very much the opposite in this playthrough in particular. Between the slipstream mission in this video and puzzles like when you were hunting down the mascot in an earlier episode, it's been really lovely to see you give yourself that extra little bit of grace and patience you sometimes need to figure things out. Truth be told, as great as the whole thing was, my favourite part of this entire video was you talking about being proud of how you played here as well as how much you've matured and continue to grow as a person. What can I say? Hearing you both take pride in your accomplishments and growth and treat yourself with the gentleness and kindness you so very much deserve just makes me very happy.
Like I said at the top, this whole video was wonderful, Tor. The editing was top notch, the gameplay was fun, you were as charming and engaging as ever, and frankly, I could never complain about getting to spend nearly 2 1/2 hours listening to you talk and watching you play a game. And as usual, you already know in detail what I think of this look, but I'll happily say again that you look amazing here. The makeup, the hair, the equal parts cute and sexy dress - it just all comes together perfectly for you and suits the video just as well. Thank you for sharing this delightful video with us, Tor. There's so much ahead of you in this game that I look forward to seeing you experience, but whether it's more of this or something else entirely, I can't wait to see what you have for us next.

Tombstone is on Kraven's list, and he's reformed in this game. But we know from the first game that not only is he a criminal but also a drug-dealer and a murderer. And yet Spidey is buddy-buddy with him in this game because he's turned his life around.
Your outfits are always amazing. 💯
That one Spider-Bot on top of a building that you looked for but weren't able to find? It was up in the air above that building. You could see the pink (?) hexagon floating in the sky when you were on top of that building looking for it. All you had to do was do the power jump (hold R2 and X, I think - it's in the move list) that jumps you straight up in the air to grab it. Or you could have gone to a nearby building and launched yourself into the air high enought.
Most of the Spider-Bots are on the sides or tops of buildings. I think there are only a couple that are actually in the air.
The talon drone/slipstream mission that you had so much trouble with? First, congratulations on completing it. I *hated* chasing those drones and struggled with them probably as much as you did. They were probably my most hated part of this game (similar to the drone challenges in the first game).
You said that you were about to choose SKIP ACTIVITY but that one was a main mission so you *had* to complete it to continue with the game. There are 6 (?) other talon drones across the city to chase, and doing them all gives you a side mission.
You also said that you would not do any of the other ones. Again, the rest are optional, but they give you XP and Rare Tech Parts (which, as the name suggests, are rare, and needed for upgrades). I found that turning on Chase Assist in the Settings menu really helped me chasing those drones. Also there are some upgrades in the Suit Tech page that give you better control when using the webwings, which really help out when chasing them.

Regarding the Mysterium you did (the timed challenge Miles did where he had to do 6 finishers), you got a Dev Diary (a recording) from completing that one. You can listen to it in your Collectible (?) page in the menu. For each Mysterium you do you'll get another Dev Diary that give you information about what's going on with Quentin Beck (Mysterio), and if you do all of them you'll get a side mission which is really cool.
The Mysteriums give you Hero Tokens, which are needed for a lot of the best upgrades, so it's worth it to do all of them, even if you only get silver for each one. And you can do them again if you didn't get gold the first time to get the extra Hero Token.
The Mysteriums have different challenges - I think there's only 2 where you have to do 6 finishers in a certain amount of time. An easy way to do that in the "gold" time limit is to upgrade your Focus (in the Suit Tech menu) to give yourself 3 focus bars, and then get the skill for Miles where do a Mega Venom Blast fills your focus. That way you can start that Mysterium challenge, do the MVB right away, which gives you 3 full focus bars, then do 3 finishers right away, and when our MVB recharges you can do it again.
Can we appreciate how the Bear Guy actually let Peter finish talking before he slammed him with the hammer?

Don't worry about the Mysterio things I did all of them and never once got gold on any of them. You being sad for the mech animal is adorable, always an empath no matter what. I would like to start this by apologizing. I said I would watch this video yesterday, but I failed to. I beg your forgiveness for this this unforgivable act. As always, the fit is great. I'm always amazed by how much effort you put into planning looks for your videos. Seeing the thought and detail you put into them has become one of my favorite things about sitting down to watch your videos.
Hearing you talk about how the MJ segment is very TLOU makes me feel so vindicated. I thought the same thing, especially in a later section of the game. Certain individuals always give me a hard time when I mention that something in a game reminds me of TLOU, but I think it's pretty hard to deny that they took inspiration in this case. I also thought the tux moment was very Uncharted 4. I'm very glad we're on the same wavelength about all these NaughtyDog related things lol
I can see Cillian Murphey in Dr. Connors, at least to a degree. I couldn't tell you exactly why, that's not one of my strong suits, but I think it might be because of the proportions and placement(?) of their facial features.
I for one, think your supervillain plans sound great. If you need some victims to be beta testers, I volunteer as tribute.

The slipstream chases definitely take some getting used to, it took me a little bit too. I'm glad to see that you started getting the hang of it though! I can't say I'd blame you for avoiding them from now on, they aren't my favorite part of the game.

I know you mentioned struggling with the combat during the preview event, but I think you've got the hang of it, aside from the parrying which can be difficult. I struggles with it for a while, mainly because I'm so used to games telling me that red attacks aren't blockable, so I always dodge out of the way, and I kept doing that here. The colors repeatedly threw me off. The way you move around while attacking and dodging is pretty great. If you can nail the parrying, you'll be (mostly) unstoppable.

One of the things I still love with the symbiote in this game is that it was Peters unbalanced life that seemed to corrupt it.

Well, technically Venom isn't the actual name of the symbiote. Venom is the name Eddie Brock name the symbiote give themselves after they bonded because together they were poison to Peter Parker and Spider-Man hence the name Venom. The actual alien is just called the symbiote.
The name Venom has nothing to do with being "poison to Peter Parker and Spider-Man". That's a line that's been used in various cartoon adaptations to explain the name. In the original comics Eddie chooses the name Venom because after he lost his reporter job (which he wrongfully blamed Spider-Man for) he was forced to work at tabloids instead of reputable newspapers, and he felt that instead of doing real journalism he was spewing venom onto the printed page. And that's where the name comes from.

If you want to start one of the side missions then the way to do it is bring up the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man by swiping left on the touchpad. This will list all available current missions and side missions. Choose the one you want and it will make it your "current" mission. Some missions are for Peter only or Miles only, so it may prompt you to change characters.
You can also assign "opening the FNSM app" to one of the available shortcuts (left and right on the left directional control). I find it easier to do this and access the app by pressing this button instead of swiping the touchpad.
This app can also be used if you want to switch from Peter to Miles (or vice versa). There's a square at the bottom of the app that says "Switch to XXXXXX".

She's said before that she plans on finishing the game, but has no set schedule at this moment. The themes of "parent and child" are something she is not quite ready to approach so soon after her father's passing. She has promised she will come back to it when she is ready.
I think the issue is that MJ looks too much like middle aged mom when she hadn't had kids yet with Pete.

Ok i gotta ask are you ever gonna finish the titanfall 2 campaign (I'm only asking considering the fact that I'm not the only who wants this to be finished I'm sorry if I'm being rude i just want some context is all 😔) it's been 2 YEARS 😔 (ik it says it's only been 1 year on the video but that's because of the specific date at which the video itself has been uploaded but since we just got into 2024 not to long ago you get what i mean) since then we haven't gotten any sort of update or anything like are you ever gonna finish? it did you just wanna drop it entirely? did you happen to finish it on your own time? please i just want some context is all 😔

@@QueenTofu (Thank you for replying to my comment 😌) to be fair in their defense they were just just trying to give constructive criticism to help you out like reading the titan loadouts for BT and replying to BT when he talks with you (Could they have worded themselves somewhat different? Yes but that's just how it is sometimes with some people being somewhat harder on others than they intended be) besides it's not like anyone expects you (or other people for that matter) to be the best player and all that you just need to relax and have fun that's all and if anyone else doesn't understand that is their own fault 😌👍 (With respect please reconsider finishing titanfall 2 at the very least do so after your done with spider man 2 that way it wouldn't feel totally out of the blue for you by switching from one game to a completely different one I hope you continue to have fun and have a wonderful rest of your day/night 😌)

@@Umbra7X23 To be fair a good portion of the "constructive criticism" was actually just insults and abuse... whether it was for not knowing where to go, incorrectly identifying equipment and gear, commenting on the comparisons to Apex, exploring the area, talking too much, not doing what they want, or just being a woman. But, yeah, I know there was some constructive criticism in there, too.
Unfortunately, I think the ship has sailed on getting playthrough on that game. Sorry, friend.
