Don't let it kill US. It is a contest for Miss Sarajevo during the terrible fratricidal war in the ex Yugoslavia. Pavarotti organized this charity concert called Pavarotti & Friends in Italy every year and no pop music star answered NO to his call because he is the GOAT.
This song is technically from a U2 side project called Passengers which was U2 and Brian Eno as a band member instead of just the producer. The name Original Soundtracks 1 for the album is because the idea was to make music for movies that didn't exist. The album version of the video shows alot of footage from the war and the damage done.
The lyrics and title are about an actual beauty contest that was held in the middle of the war in a inspirational/defiant way. That banner actually says "DON'T LET THEM KILL US."

One of the most beautiful songs ever written Bono and Brian Eno { formerly of Roxy music fame} have collaborated many times down the years on U2 songs/albums and it always produces genius, this was written about a beauty pageant that took place at the time of the civil war in the former Yugoslavia paying homage to the courage of those people involved this song with the added vocal of Pavarotti is on another level.
You should review this same song live in Milan.. Bono does the Pavarotti part and it’s his most stunning and powerful vocal performance ever. You would be the first to review it if you do.

When this song is done at a U2 concert now Bono does the opera part. It really is stunning and Bono does such an amazing job at it.

When U2 was a cash machine more than a pop rock band...I was in Sarajevo that time, this song was not so popular. Too cash and stars, far away from what people was waiting for 😢 But the effort was appreciate. I think the same too. So i cannot be objective about 😞
