Problem about comparing GDP is that Russia's economy is mostly vis production. While a lot of the west is financial and white collar stuff. Which means Russia can make tons of stuff despite having a smaller economy technically

(GDP is a sum of such transactions)There are other features like significant share of services being hidden from GDP calculation as internal not to mention Ruble purchase power adjustments.

Another point is even the person that created the concept GDP stated it is not a good measure of a nation's wealth. What is a better measure of a nation's wealth is GDP by PPP as every country uses its own money and in the end spending power within borders is a good measure.

Economically, they've strengthened it and pushed it to develop it's own industries. I disagree about Soviet system.
Russia is doing today goes far beyond boundaries of how operations were structured in USSR. Even such unit as "battalion tactical group"(BTG) didn't exist in USSR, but in Russia it's main unit of army. They have changed the entire army since 2010s.
Problem with Western powers is that they are stuck in Cold War era and don't want to face the truth. They use methods of war against USSR, when USSR has long since ceased to exist. Today Russia almost not recruiting new soldiers; Russian army has only mobilization in 2022(November, for put another forces in vacation).
You can compare this with Ukraine, where mobilizations never end and the borders are closed, meanwhile NATO trained them, entire NATO supply huge donations and weapons, entire EU repair ukrainian/nato equipment,why do they lose?

I think there is a great misunderstanding of GDP. That number encompasses everything about the economy including things that in the end do not matter. Take how much is spent on education or how much consumers spend.
What is actually produced should be the issue to look at. Does Russia produce everything it needs to function despite sanctions? Would California or EU states be in that same position.
Putin prepared Russia for this war economically and it is showing just how well he did.
Look at debt to gdp ratio and you will see Russia is in a much better position than the West.

Russia is in a better position to absorb losses then Ukraine, they still get thousands of volunteers a month, while the mobilization laws that Ukraine has enacted have been putting a strain on the economy, one business in an interview stated that 70 percent of his workers are expected to be mobilized. Fundamentally, this is a war of attrition and basic math suggests that the country with the larger population and industry is that one that will prevail.

We see this key difference manifest in attritional warfare where debt based economies can create qualitative military superiority, but simply cannot keep up quantitatively, and thus fail in the end.
The GDP is not a true measure of economic resilience. In the US, Medicare, inflated house prices, social security payments, fictitious stock market bubble contribute to the GDP. Not much in terms of production, unlike Chinese and Russia's GDP measurement.

Protracted attritional warfare, isn't that kind of Russias entire history? Like with Napoleon, the Mongols and Germany. They all got pretty close to Moscow or even breached it. Then the Russians rally slowly and suddenly overwhelm and defeat their enemies.

The size of the economy doesn't matter. Financial/service economies don't win wars, industrial economies that actually produce things do. That's what people don't get. The only benefit of a larger economy is to the bottom lines of megacorporations, but that doesn't translate into societal improvement, all it does is concentrate wealth on monopolies. The expansion of capital without direction is a self defeating game.
The size of economy is irrelevant when Russia can produce stuff 1/20th the price + don't have to maintain 850 bases around the world. Maintaining those bases is a huge drain. The West is at an economical disadvantage.
Larger economy means nothing if your spending is also high. Germany is the second year in row in economic problems. Thus they had to cut Ukrainian help by half. All the money doesn't help if the fabrics don't mass produce tanks and so on, which they don't do. Having the money and willing to spend it are two different issues.

You're overlooking the fact Zelensky is an actor, and always has been. These visits to NATO countries and meetings with leaders are all, for PR purposes. Actual strategy is determined by the US, behind the scenes, as you MUST know by now.
Zelensky was groomed for the part years ago. Go watch Scott Ritter's "Agent Zelensky" docu, which may be typically American and full of hyperbole, but he isn't making that stuff up. The Servant of The People show was created for him, so they could shoehorn him into the presidency, backed by the $billions of George Soros.
Russia will not, use nuclear weapons unless, there is no possible alternative, regardless of any saber-rattling, as they are responsible adults unlike, those who hold power in NATO countries, - none of whom, represent the views of their people. What Russia will do, is supply more weapons to various groups hostile to the US and it's vassal states and encourage them to attack their military bases all around the world. Doing so will greatly destabilise the current US grip on the world, and add to the increasing view that, the US is an ageing dinosaur, - bulky, but incapable of defending itself effectively, and nothing to be feared. A view already established by their failures in Afghanistan, Ukraine, and the Red Sea.
The Russian MOD has reported that, two battalions of the AFU have been encircled in the north-west of the Kursk salient. They also, report 22,000 AFU casualties in the Kursk region, so far.They report 30,000 AFU troops remaining in the salient.
The Kursk salient is not, a "significant card" in negotiations, as Russia will not, sign any kind of settlement whilst, the AFU occupies Russian territory. Putin himself, made that crystal clear, and the Russian public wouldn't stand for any compromise in that.
All NATO has achieved with their utterly reckless gamble in Kursk, is to harden Russian public opinion to the point where, Putin has rock-solid support by almost, the entire Russian people. Western media reports of internal divisions are based on wishful-thinking, and nothing else.
I suspect, the Russians are unusually, going to do a genuine pincer movement and cut off most the AFU to the north. Doing so before the Nov. 5th US elections would be a massive PR victory, not to mention, an impressive military manouvre, and would hammer home Russian dominance for the world to see. Risky, of course, but worth it if, they can achieve it.
Your mapping of the Toretsk area is way behind the events on the ground. The Russians now, control approx. 40% of the built-up area, on a line running from the south-west, to the north-east, just before the coal mine spoil heap.
On the Pokrovsk front, I find it utterly implausible that, the AFU continue to hold the open fields to the east of Zoryane, surrounded as they are, and with the urban areas west of them at risk of encirclement. Sure, the AFU commanders seem fuckin useless, but surely, the guys on the ground have learned by now that, you need to withdraw before, the Russians have all possible routes under fire control? Just because, no geo-located footage confirms that area as under Russian control, doesn't mean it isn't, especially as, such footage is often, several days behind events on the ground.
