  • This video is part 3 of a recent solo day I had out in my boat. In this part I tried for Flounder and the effort paid off!

    I fish off the beach on the North side of the Lynnhaven bridge near the public boat ramp and never catch anything. I’m envious of you guys that go where the fish are while I stand there and hope some fish swim by close to shore.🤔

      You should walk down to where the creek from the boat ramp exits out to the main body of water. I've seen some nice Flounder caught there!

    Hey Jesse! Very much enjoy your content and looking forward to visiting your area in a few weeks time as a Canadian who never fished in saltwater. If you come out with your kayak around the north side of the bridge or the concrete ships last week of june, It'd be nice to meet you, if you don't mind having a chat with a touristic subscriber.

      Wouldn't mind talking at all. Not sure about yaking then though, my schedule is pretty full

    Great video, I don’t know if we will even have a flounder season in North Carolina this year

      Yeah I live in NC and it sucks... I not even going to get started on that subject...

      Was it last year NC had a two week season in September with a one a day limit? I watch videos by EliasVFishing who fishes out of the Wilmington area catch flounder after flounder when he’s not even targeting them. It’s ridiculous.

      @@SouthernReelsFishing And based on faulty data. I wonder how the wardens feel about enforcing bad law ? I'm afraid they will have to catch us if they can if they persist in this.

    What is that type of rig called that you were fishing with in the beginning?

    • @SouthernReelsFishing
      @SouthernReelsFishing  Рік тому +1

      A Tandem rig. Bucktail on the bottom tipped with gulp, and a glass minnow tipped with gulp about a ft above it. The classic Jon Skinner rig

    Do you back off your drag on your reels when your done fishing? I do, it helps preserve the drag washers because theyre not compressed all the time. I get long life out of my reels.

    • @SouthernReelsFishing
      @SouthernReelsFishing  Рік тому

      A good tip, should try it. But to be honest that reel has seen a long life of abuse from large Sheeps and reds, it did well to last as long as it did!

    3:12 I have the same reel and was wondering, instead of throwing it in the trash is there a way to replace the drag washers or magnets (I do not know if it has both or either)? Seems like a person with you knowledge (sure as hell not mine) could repair such a good reel.

    • @SouthernReelsFishing
      @SouthernReelsFishing  Рік тому

      I actually have it in pieces on my bench now lol. Everything is still in good shape. Was going to order new drag washers and try it. Only cost like $4.
