Can someone explain what makes NVG/NODs so expensive? Obviously quality glass is expensive. Usually technology gets cheaper with NODs they have always been expensive. Even the crap bino to monos of the 90s were 6K back then. Those DOD budgets jacking the price up or is the tech complicated to produce?

There’s only 3 main companies that make the image intensifier tubes used. They’re extremely difficult to manufacture
