I think the home support on Sunday will be the important 12th man the Kiwis need for a nice win. But this has to be the most even game between the two teams I have seen in a long time. Shame Reid didn’t get any game time though hopefully just waiting to give it 110% in his final game Sunday.
Maybe New Zealand should also move to AFC. It's more competitive there.
But then inter-confederation World Cup playoff will always be won by South American team, that if OFC is given the chance.
I think the whole OFC should join AFC, it will be more competitive with 57 teams, like with 55 teams in UEFA
Copa America always have one or two invited teams. In recent years Qatar or Japan has played the Copa America. I don´t know why New Zealand has done NOTHING to get invited, they truly need it. OFC is not enough for their level.

In fact in Australia, football has the highest participation rate for team sports with 1.9 million registered players. The Australian A league grand final was a more entertaining and engaging game than the champions league final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. Also Australia has recently knocked out the 5th best South American qualifier for a spot in the World Cup and New Zealand only missed out after poir refereeing decisions against Costa Rica. In 2005 Australia knocked out two time world champion Uruguay to make the 2006 World Cup where Australia reached the second round getting knocked out by eventual champions Italy only after a soft penalty decision. In 2015 Australia became Asian champions beating South Korea in the final, a team that has been making regular World Cups since 1986, including a semi final appearance in 2002. This a World Cup edition will be Australia's 5th straight appearance. Over 200 countries participate in World Cup qualification of which only 32 qualify. In this context, it is harder to qualify for a football World Cup than to win in cricket, or any of the other rugby codes. Your comments are ignorant and lack nuance and it shows your lack of sporting knowledge.
Because football isnt our main sport, Rugby takes up most of the resources so most of our talent goes to it, same with Australia with AFL, and Rugby League.

Australia and NZ are at best respectively third and fourth tier teams. That's not being offensive, it's just how it is. They're not footballing nations, so it's normal if they're not part of the best. It's not because Australia manage to beat every now and then some teams supposed to be better that they're somehow competitive on the international stage. Australia qualified only 5 times to the world cup, and made it out of the group stage only once. That would be the record of a lightweight nation. No offense in that. You can be far better than Mongolia, Belize, or Cambodia, it doesn't mean you're a top team.
You're talking about lack of sporting knowledge but you acted like Australia beating Uruguay in 2005 was a big achievement... You might be the only one ignoring that Uruguay in 2005 was nothing of a top competitive team for at least 30 years. They came back on top starting in 2010, and beating Uruguay in 2005 is not like beating them today.

New zealand are so lucky that they are in the easiest and weakest confederation so the playoff match for world cup qualifier is guaranteed.
They might be in the weakest federation but, as Australia found, it's no easy means of qualifying because it poorly prepares the team for the much tougher final round of qualification.
