I jumped the gun & had my thyroid removed. I went down the You Tube Rabbit Hole doing Research, because like (it seems) everyone else, the Doctors I was going to didn't know squat about the Endocrine system. After Keto, intermittent fasting I finally started to lose the weight (all while my Primary Care Manager was playing yoyo with my Synthroid Meds). I was still in Agony- I thought that my Prior lower back injury was making me immobile. I finally had an MRI, only to have the Report from the Imaging Lab write a small blurp about my Bile duct being backed up. Then I stumbled on Dr Childs Video about Ox Bile. I tried it. I also started taking a gallbladder supplement along with the Ox Bile. My Back stopped hurting. I was more regular than I had ever been in my life. So, If you have these symptoms too, I Hope my Experience Might just help You- Good Luck!

Hi Dr. Childs! Thanks for your video, its a big help! Can i ask a question. I have had Hypothyroidism ( i believe Hashimotos but am not 100%). I have had tummy discomfort after eating( usually processed foods) on and off for 6 years. My ferritin was low at 13( im a premenopausal woman who is breastfeeding and has been breastfeeding one child after another for 9 years). I started ferrous sulfate and my iron levels went up to 165 total ( ferritin27) in about 2-3 months. I then started trying to take iron in AM with prenatal vitamin and i think it messed my stomach up. My stomach has started the discomfort symptoms again , usually after taking an iron pill. Im concerned about what the root cause of my stomach pain is, although im not anemic, losing weight, ( the iron helped harden up my BMs). Do you have any insight? Thanks!

Hi Dr Childs just got your news letter on acid blockers omerprozol which I used to take then was changed to esomerprazole 40mg I have been taking them since I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2001. I stopped taking them 2 months ago and started taking digestive Enzymes complex (and kids probiotics once a day) before every meal and what a difference no acid reflux or acid coming back up my oesophagus no bloating. By taking the digestive Enzymes before every meal I find that I dont snack. if I do eat something after my meal 1 hour after I noticed I get the reflux so I am careful. I hope this will correct the damage that was done by the blockers on my thyriod. Its been two months I have been onthe Enzymes . I just wish Dr's like you would mention digestive Enzymes first before prescribeding the blockers. How long to reverse the damage done by the blockers?
Doctor Childs, it's the first time I hear someone who faithfully describe everything I've been through and what I'm still dealing with, a month after my thyroid was removed I had to be hospitalized because I had a "rare gastritis caused" by antibiotics, painkillers. , etc., all of them prescribed before and after surgery, I also had uninterrupted reflux, I spent four days in the hospital with intravenous omeprazole, my esophagus and stomach were badly burned. After leaving the hospital I had pain after eating, my stomach was struggling to digest the food (now I understand that it did not have any hydrochloric acid), I had two endoscopies, PH measurement, manometry, etc. and the doctors simply said it was caused by anxiety (I thimk that Any one would be anxious feeling the esphagus burning every nights and not sleep because of that) it was a very difficult Journey for almost two years, finally with the dose of levothyroxine that I was absorbing little by little (Not absorbed at all because of the omeprazole) and an immunologist prescribed me an antibiotic for sibo ( rifaximin), then I could barely control the problem but still not completely, unfortunately the gastroenterologist never related my gastrointestinal problems to the fact that the gland had just been removed. My stomach is so damaged that I can't tolerate supplements or antibiotics for long, not to mention metronidazole which is for attacking Helicobacter Phylori. I really don't want my daughter to go through the same traumatic path that I went through, she also has Hashimotos but luckily she still has her gland and I really wish her story was different from mine 😔 Shortly my case was a "series of unfortunate events", and what makes me feel really mad is that several endocrinologists have told me that my thyroid did not need to be removed. I wish that in my country there was someone like you with as much experience in this regard.
I have thyroid problems. I had ultra sound scan and ct scan. I am not taking any medicines . I have terrible gastric problems. I have a large thyroid gland and also multiple nodules which is not dangerous. At the moment l get bloated stomach , difficulty breathe and very uncomfortable

Curious if you could do a video on people with hashimoto's and low weight? I had an ultrasound done and it says suspicious of hashimoto's. I was having hyperthyroid symptoms and been taking 5 mg methimazole since last Nov. Are you saying to check thyroid T1, T2, T3, T4 and TSH first BEFORE addressing other 10 issues? And are those all the thyroid tests to check? Thank you!!!
You don't need to test T1 and T2 but you can find a list of other thyroid lab tests here: www.restartmed.com/thyroid-tests/ Testing is not necessary to address gut issues, I'm just saying that if you don't treat your thyroid then fixing your gut will be very difficult.
Is there anybody using Ashwagandha. Along with lever thyroxine for underactive thyroid I’ll be great if someone could get back to me and let me know is it safe to do so thank you. ❤️🙏
Greetings! I don't know if this helps so please check behind me but I had a total thyroidectomy back in 2011 due to thyroid cancer I was told not to take Ashwanganda because it can effect your Thyroid medication however I was also told supplements were ok as long as you wait 4 hours after you've taking you Thyroid medication if you find out further info please share

I take ashawaganda and magnesium before I go to bed every night. I started it when my husband was put on a ventilator due to Covid to help myself calm down and sleep. I take armour thyroid (t3/t4 med) and liothyronine (t3 only) for thyroid. I have had no issues and my blood work looks pretty good. I take my thyroid meds jn the morning.
Can malabsorption cause difficulty to gain weight? And otherwise what could be the reason for this? My thyroid hormones are optimal with my treatment (T4 = T3), but I don't feel any different...

There are types of SIBO which result in diarrhea due to bacterial overgrowth and not due to motility. I am generally in favor of cycling, yes.
Would that cause coldness to gut area?
Dr Childs, what about fatty liver? Is this one of the issues related to low thyroid function.
But what about gut issues and hyperthyroidism or sub clinical hyperthyroidism?

It depends on what type of treatments you've undergone. Have you had your thyroid surgically removed or ablated or are you using methimazole?
Are you higher risk for appendicitis and gallbladder problems then?

Have you tried intermittent fasting? Research it, That & Keto substantially reduced the inflammation in my body & relieved my gastritis & ulcers. I also take ox bile & a gallbladder supplement (Dr Berg).

I really don't want my daughter to go through the same traumatic path that I went through, she also has Hashimotos but luckily she still has her gland and I really wish her story was different from mine 😔
Shortly my case was a "series of unfortunate events", and what makes me feel really mad is that several endocrinologists have told me that my thyroid did not need to be removed.
@@clarencehettigoda5150 I was also diagnose with multiple nodules on my thyriod. About a month ago I was having gerd and feeling a lump in my throat making it hard to swallow. Im having surgery to remove half of my thyriod where the nodule is. I hope my gerd and chocking will subside after tge surgery.
Before I was finally diagnosed with Hypothyroidism I had a major ruptured appendix and well you know what I was up against. Could one of these stomach issues create the ruptured appendix?

Curious if you could do a video on people with hashimoto's and low weight?
I had an ultrasound done and it says suspicious of hashimoto's. I was having hyperthyroid symptoms and been taking 5 mg methimazole since last Nov. I went form 139 lb to 105-110 lb depending on the day, I still feel all the symptoms and I'm waiting to see an Endo in July. I have no thyroid antibodies really and since being on the meds my TSH t3 and t4 are in normal range. I went from very low vitamin D (12) to (42) only after trying 5,000U daily with no difference to now 50,000U once a week.
OK Then What Can We Do?

Taking 25mg-50mg of iodine daily for hypo and digestive issues.
Do me a favor either slow down when you're talking or break the videos up into segments...
You don't have to rush it's your channel

Are you saying to check thyroid T1, T2, T3, T4 and TSH first BEFORE addressing other 10 issues? And are those all the thyroid tests to check? Thank you!!!
You don't need to test T1 and T2 but you can find a list of other thyroid lab tests here: www.restartmed.com/thyroid-tests/
Testing is not necessary to address gut issues, I'm just saying that if you don't treat your thyroid then fixing your gut will be very difficult.
I have been on Levothyroxine and take Molecular Products supplement called AdreneVive which has ashwagandha and rhodiola in it. I’m in my 31st month of tapering off benzodiazepines. Last TPO antibodies were in the upper 900’s which is my personal high blood in TPO antibodies. Not good.

Thank you for your content. Gut issue is definitely a thing. My son has HPHPA bacteria and he stopped talking last year.
Do you know where clostridia bacteria come from?
I will check my gut later this year too
How old is your son?
Seriously I think it’s all in the food, GMO
@@74the_magpie my son turned 4 in February this year. He developed very well then last year his behaviors started changing then in June his language skills were gone.
I had to use Great Plain Lab from USA for a second opinion since where I like in Canada and OAT is not the same as in USA. Trying to him on antibiotics now.
The lab describes as it causes autism, depression, speech impairment, abnormal behaviors and schizophrenia.
Hopefully, it is not too late for my little parrot( he used to talk too much and now he is a shadow of himself)
VERY OVERWHELMING ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE DOCTORS TO HELP TRADITIONAL ENDOCRINOLOGISTS HAVEN'T BEEN SUCCESSFUL WITH ANY OF THEM
