I’m a mom of 3 small children who I have little to no help with, work full time, and am a full time college student. My courses are online but they require group projects and multiple zoom meetings a week. I feel incredibly overwhelmed and am lacking motivation.
Wow! You are a rock star! Keep going! I am struggling just with 1 kid, no work, not even registered for classes this semester :( Your comment truly inspired me that I can do it!
@@beinspired4735 thank you! I just graduated college in December and got a raise at my job this month! It’s still stressful but I am feeling much better. 💕
@margaretangel7223 omg! Congratulations good for you that you graduated! I am a part time college student with 4 children all under 10 and am drowning. I soon will be working but am thinking about pausing school. You just motivated me to want to keep moving forward with both work and school as a mom to four little ones. Any helpful tips? How did you do it? Are your children homeschooled? Do you work remote? My kids are in person school but I have thought about home schooling. I used to work remote and am thinking about doing something like that again. Any helpful tips or advice will greatly be appreciated!
As a fellow ADHDer, her talking about it and another UA-camr encouraged me to try it and it helped me get through both of my degrees with a baby and now 5 yr old at home. I'll even be doing it a bit different as an itinerant teacher :)
I am a mum of 3, working from home, just started an MBA program online, secretary of the kid's school PTA, and doing all the home chores alone. Your video is just it for me. Thank you
It's like I have a twin! I have a daily 4 also...Housework, masters degree, bookkeeping for our business and exercise. This is brilliant. Thanks for this wonderful video.
I love how realistic you are about being productive! The laundry situation is exactly my mindset. My situation is similar to yours. I also Homeschool, manage a educational program, wife and have a 8 month old. The laundry has to wait all the time lol. I need to learn to stick to the block schedule and not get distracted into cleaning when I'm suppose to be working or homeschooling
You are an inspiration. About to begin a PhD at 38 with a wife and two kids depending on me to be employed full time. I will also be teaching part time throughout my grad program. I am also an adjunct prof. My wife will be homeschooling the kids and we will most likely be expecting our third sooner than later.
Thank you for this video, I am a mom of 2 trying so hard to get myself and my life organized. Your content resonates with my situation. Will be giving time blocking a try 😊
I am not a mom but i feel like it. I have to study, cook for my brother & dad, pick my brother up from school and then I want to workout to have some type of. outlet. I feel so stressed so I hope this video helps me
1. Scheduling is important for productivity. 2. The video is about block scheduling, what it is and how to make it work. 3. The author is a virtual assistant, full-time college student, wife, and mother of four. 4. Block scheduling involves breaking the day into chunks of time to prioritize tasks. 5. Listing everything that needs to be done is the first step in creating a block schedule. 6. A weekly to-do list is more flexible than a daily one. 7. Time blocking creates a visual picture of the week and helps prioritize tasks. 8. Choosing what needs to be prioritized is important in block scheduling. ----From Notta's video summarizer
I do something similar at work. When I get a task I immediately find a time slot in my calendar a block it so this task can be done in a timely manner. This way I do not forget tasks that are less urgent, could be done in 1-2 weeks, but I still have to do them. And my colleagues often comment that I am very well organized. I do not do it with my tasks at home and probably I should. Some things definitely get pushed around, sometimes even due to Netflix watching in the evening.
This is fantastic and doable. The way you break it all down just makes so much sense. I was never a block schedule person but I am going to try that as I feel a lot my time management issues can be helped by it. Thank you!
I'm so glad I rediscovered you with this! I've always been a huge fan of your budgeting videos. Now inflation has destroyed my budgeting powers, so I have been going back to school full time, and working with 4 children. I was really worried about how my schedule looked this upcoming semester, wondering where I was going to find time to clean, grocery shop, and hang out with my Littles. I'm going to spend a whole 2 hour block everyday making a flexible schedule around my classes. You've taken alot of the anxiety off my shoulders. Thank you! I love you! ❤
Great video! I’m a list person, but I never thought about using my list to block off my calendar. Great idea.🎉 BTW - I LOVE your haircut. It looks so cute on you❣️💖
I never thought I was the kind of person to need a block schedule, but you’ve convinced me to try it 😅 Thank you, as always, for such encouraging videos!!
Even with a newborn, I benefitted immensely from your advice and tips. I always do, Lydia! 💕 Thank you for sharing your thought process during each time block, that’ll help me determine what tasks I should do when I get a 2 minute break from the cute lil baby… but usually doesn’t happen because the older two are attached to me as well 😆💕
I enjoy a block schedule because it's a schedule without constantly watching the clock. Also because I often underestimate how long a task will really take me.
I do a “brain dump” on Sunday evenings then “assign” everything a day/time. This is a game changer for me. It has been taking an afternoon rest or sit & read a book okay. I usually find I get things completed faster than expected. A good thing! Sure do love your videos & your kind, compassionate, & nonjudgmental delivery of such helpful information. Blessings!!!
Thanks for sharing. How long do you take to do the Sunday brain dump and assign a time for each thing? I feel overwhelmed when I’m in the middleof the process.
Super useful, I really love when you spoke about thibgs that you are not doing, for example I decided to have Lunch while my baby is taking a nao right now, eventhough I have not cleaned my house or soné the dishes yet, and I always try to hace all that done like before Lunch, but I gotta eat (take careof myself...) too❤
Lydia, love the hair, love the video. I am a very organized and detailed oriented person, so I totally get it. Thank you for showing me it is not just me.
Wow Thank You so Much 💓 Your So Organized This is a good time management tool in between working and home and errands it's hard to find any of "Me" time for myself where I am so not tired and want to take a nap 😴
I’ve been wanting to try this so thanks for holding my hand through it haha. One thing I struggle with is the volume of emails I get. I’ve learned how to filter out and delete things I don’t have time for that aren’t important or relevant to me but when it comes to the rest email often creates more work I don’t have planned. How do you manage that?
Hi Lydia! This was perfectly timed for me! In fact, I was on your website just yesterday looking for that paper planner you use…. Inspired by you once again! Thank you! Also, you look so lovely. Your smile is really eye catching, that new hairstyle is really flattering and you are exuding healthy vibes. Love from Canada.
This is my first time ever watching you qnd im so glad i did because i beleive block time may work for me! I am the typw of person who puts important to everything all the same🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
This is perfect! Exactly what I never knew I needed. I’m a single mom of 3 and work a full time corporate job while also in school full time (online). You are amazing and this actually works🫶🏾🥹
Have you done a video on how you guys organize bills? I am on the struggle bus with this. I just don’t understand Excel and it feels cumbersome. The best luck I’ve had is on Every Dollar, but I still wish I had a better budget binder or something to track better on paper.
This was interesting. I plan more by task so if I know I have an appointment I plan what I’m doing before and then after the appointment. Or if I’m at the office I plan on what I’ll get done after work or in the morning. Basically I divide my tasks into times of the day based around mealtimes. Does this even make sense?!?! 😂
I'm curious about your office hours block on the Google cal - it had a small icon for the event title that looked a bit like a spreadsheet, what is that?
This sounds so perfect for me! I naturally ALMOST do this but never realized it until watching this video. I want to practice this with more intention now. However, I have a 3mo old and so my time blocks seem to just float rather than be consistent. For instance my 3mo old was randomly active and fussy until 3am when she usually is asleep by 10pm. So it’s tricky. Any extra advice? Maybe it’s just not the season of life to try this 😉 and that’s ok too.

I like the way you explained this. I have heard of this from other vloggers, but the way you described it helps filter my tasks easier!
