Let me start off by saying I'm new to the Pittsburgh Steeler fan base. But if I'm right y'all got Russell to get over the hump. I watched how Sean Payton treated him from OTAs to the season throughout the season. I want you to understand this is the third season he had a third different coach and a third different system. I mean when y'all talk about Hall of famers how many of them would be top five in that situation. If you want Russell to be productive win games he's going to do that. But we definitely got to be realistic. Sean Payton went into camp saying what Russell could not do he went into the season saying he could bench Russell. He got a backup quarterback not to challenge Russell but as a threat. Somebody the raiders didn't even want and when they had to play the raiders and they bench Russell that backup quarterback lost to the raiders. So if you're basing how good Russell was on Sean Payton. Let me let you know that running team did not score any touchdowns. So that offense was pretty much one-dimensional and that's because Russell put them on his back. Sean Payton had Rusty play calling. That's completely the opposite with Mike Tomlin. Who has not taken 2 years off who has been active. Who is not threatening Russell all year long. How would you perform under that pressure knowing somebody doesn't want you there from day one
Right. And Russell now has a real OC who wants to mold the offense to his talents. I didn’t know much about Wilson before this season but after looking into him and his career, I have a ton of confidence we’re going deep into the playoffs. Partly due to the new dogs up front, parts due to Russell at QB, and mostly due to having a real offensive coordinator. Thank god.

FACTS! Thanks for the insight on this. I've been a Steelers fan my whole life and I was really excited to see us get Russ. It's awesome to have him in our locker room. The man is a leader and is the leader our locker room needs. He made it a point to reach out to the players and from the start started building relationships and connections with his teammates. I also see him as a man with good morals as well. Which can also translate into the locker room full of younger players. I'd love to see him here for some time. LET'S GO!!! Justin Cannot make the magical throws in clutch time that it takes to win Championships. Russ is the literally known as a magician when it comes to throwing that ball.
@@1hunit89 yes Fields can, go look at his college days when he had an actual offensive line & wide receivers that could catch & an actual playbook. Russ can’t throw balls down the middle, he’s too short, Russ won’t make it, in the AFC North

Fields if given shot will be future in Pittsburgh! Opens running game and needs consistent offense coordinator which this is fourth in 4 years. Changing his mechanics Bears Steelers changed it back.

I don't GAF. There is no way the Steelers invest in Russell, he's too old. Why not pour your total investment into Fields because has ten plus years ahead of him.
My opinion you get Justin Fields because you want to have a decent starting quarterback if Russell gets hurt. For the cheap. But if we're talking about quarterbacking ability awareness leadership footwork somebody who's done it at the highest level. That's Russell . Russell spends over a million dollars on his body every year just like LeBron James. So when people say he's old thats cap. You wouldn't say Aaron Rodgers was old you wouldn't say Tom Brady was old. I can guarantee you if everybody stays healthy he will do just fine

Let me ask you a question... what was Fields QB rating Comp % when throwing to competent pass catchers? How many games where lost because of someone other than Feilds... The Bears where in a 2 year tear down and rebuild for 2 of his 3 years...
Justin won't start this year. But they do want to see if they want to offer him a contract for our future.
They need to figure out if Justin can read NFL defenses quickly and make good decisions on 3-4 routes on a given play. If they feel from training camp, and more importantly preseason, that he can, we lock him and he’s the future QB. If not…
Wilson is going to flame out.. i sure was happy when i thought he was good QB.. dude has been hit to many times.. So i say good luck on your season Pittsburgh because fields will end up a qb.. wislon got to many hits to his head to be effective.. you will find out..
Until preseason is over we will know the quarterback who starts game 1. I’m a Fields guy but I’m willing to support Russ if the Steelers win.

I get there's already a decision at starter but the mentality of #2 should always be 'I can win this job'. Coach has set the tone 'if you want it prove it'. that's exactly what you want every day. I hope they mix him in to some unique option plays.

This is your problem bro at no point last year did Russell stink. The most you can say is that is qbr went down. But he was yanked out of two games. Just imagine if he was averaging two touchdowns a game. That means they took four touchdowns from him. He had 28. So easily that's 32 touchdowns he would have had. What kind of fans are hoping that a Hall of Fame quarterback doesn't succeed for their team. When the other option was bad for 3 years. Russell was only bad for 1 year with Nathaniel Hackett. I think you need to reevaluate if you want the Steelers to go far or if you want them to start rebuilding and actually start losing seasons
