My fern was actually growing out through the cracks for watering in the bottom of its pot. I feel like that's definitely it trying to tell me it's crowded. Thanks for the vid lol
Yep I've got one like that right now too! My Kimberly queen is growing out the pot's drainage holes. Hopefully I'll have time to split her soon as well! 😂
It's not recommended. Technically you can, but you will always be fighting a thin balance between overwatering and underwatering. A lot of times they will sell a nursery pot with holes inside of the decorative pot without holes. Try this setup if you really like the pot without holes. 🙃
Rocks at the bottom of your pot can actually make drainage worse in some cases. Especially indoors. So I don't recommend rocks in the bottom of any of your pots. 😊
I just use a regular houseplant soil. But I'm sure some people have a specific fern mixture that I'm assuming has a higher peat percentage. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I don't want to recommend anything I haven't researched and tested myself.
Hi Angela I’m glad I found your page, I was looking for plant tips for one of my money tree that I been having issues with and then I came for another video for the snake and now this one for the fern which I really needed anyhow, I love all the tips and your personality just shines right thru so I decided to subscribe. Thank you! You are extremely helpful! 🙏🏻🙌🏻♥️🌟🌿🪴
Here is the link to my blog post with extra information about pot choice, soil types, and more! www.thegirlwithashovel.com/how-to-repot-a-boston-fern/
My fern is dying and it's not in soil. Can I still plant it in soil now or just let it go dormant and pray it survive the winter.
I had no idea they were that simple to separate! And step 5 was very helpful! I'm the person that would've over watered immediately! 😂
Yes, if you soak your soil at the beginning, then it should still be wet enough for a few days. Good luck! 😃
Very good video thank you , I learned so much from your video
Thanks!

What size pot is that?
I'm sorry it's been quite a while since I recorded this video and I don't remember for sure. But I think it was an 8" pot... 🙃
No need for rocks at the bottom for drainage?
