The bigger question is why they assume it’s a ghost. Those two have never seen Griselda, nor were they shown a picture, so a person showing up that stealthily would be alarming, but I don’t know why you’d assume ghost.

+Matthew Rubenstein The joke is that they DON'T have chemistry in canon. Asuna is a blank slate of a character who is literally defined by her relationship with Kirito. Every other girl in his 'pseudo-harem' has more character than she does by a country mile, and they have a fraction of the screen time. Not to say that Kirito himself is much better, but it's a harem anime so all the story and background info is supposed to come from the supporting females and not the MC. The fact that the lead female has all the depth of a kiddie pool is one of the series' biggest issues.
At least here we can say they're both confrontational sociopaths with limited social skills and violent tempers. They're like two violently burning peas in a pod made of nitroglycerin, and it's hilarious.
+Matthew Rubenstein it's not that they don't have character, its that their characters are very generic. Kirito is the average "nice guy" protagonist as every other harem protagonist. Asuna started out as a quiet badass turned into a tsundere and ended up being. "Nice girl" whose the MC always chooses over the other girls in his harem. Kinda disapointing since, as stated before, Asuna had a decent character in the second episode, and Kirito was starting to devolp one after Saachi's death. Too bad filler and lack of focus messed it up.
As a person who's reading SAO: Progressive, I sincerely disagree.

I love how these characters are actually really true to their own dialogue in the show. Kirito loved the sandwich, and loved it here. Infinitely funnier here though, this is incredible

I'll be honest, the fake death conspiracy theory was actually pretty clever, way more believable and realistic than the original.
What was in the original?
Arjun dangui the swords were destroying the durability of their armour, as soon as the armor broke, they teleported, making it look like they died (since item destruction looks the exact same as character death) that’s why yoga pants wore a cloak, so she was wearing something that could break. Honestly, it’s clever, I don’t hate saoa or something witty, but just making the teleport crystal a glitch was kinda cheap

What was the explanation in the original? I'm curious.
Basically that by stabbing themselves with weapons their armour durability goes down. When armour breaks the animation is very close to the death animation, so they had to tp away as it did and so on. Original Kirito figured it out when he dropped his sandwich.

Like how that stupid Yoko girl randomly involved them in their “web of lies” for absolutely no reason, being retarded enough to not delete the friends list, and somehow get a group of contract killers to leave just because he helped them a bit with their business. Let’s not even get into the fact that a teenager is the one who ended up solving a 6 month long murder mystery and was the ONLY ONE who knew about that fall glitch due to conveniently being the only beta tester still alive

@@christiancrusader9374 I think she asked them and they made that big deal of him being held up to a building by a sword to try and find schmidt. Like she needed their connections or something because they're higher level and part of the group that goes after the bosses.
Also in the original it wasn't a fall glitch. They used the fact that objects have the same break animation as the death animation and timed it with a teleport crystal to make it look like they died. He noticed it when his sandwich died.

Anyway, going back ontopic, I can safely say this series is also better than the original.
Episodes actually have some good pacing, instead of being shoehorned in and characters are done MUCH better.
And the characters have an actual development, not to mention even with their low screen time, they don't feel as unimportant as in the original.
