    Here in the Texas coast, southern Flounder are in decline as well. First time our flounder season will be close during the fall season every year from now on. Our fall season close date are November 1 thru December 14. On December 15 it opens back up and can keep your daily bag limit of 5.

  • @IGbullshark
    @IGbullshark 2 роки тому +1

    The closure is geared more toward the people who would keep the fish regardless of an I.D. course requirement. You're always going to have a certain segment of the angling population that keeps the closed fish and claims they thought it was whatever fish is still open. We have a similar issue here in Ohio. White bass have been mostly just open season but people were keeping every hybrid and striped bass they caught and just said "yep, it's a white bass" so the state is now limiting how many white bass you can keep simply to try and save the other "similar" species.

    Perfect example of what not to do for beginners at the 1:00 mark. You never want to put your hand above your lure or around the line when you have a fish on and the rod is bent.
    If the fish shakes the hooks that rod will straighten out and when it does it will bury the hooks right into the meat of your hand.
    Never done so myself, but have witnessed it twice.
