If you want a “sport mode” and all 8 cylinders all you have to do is engage the auto stick button on the end of your column shifter. It bypasses the “eco mode” and keeps all 8 cylinders active. I thought everyone knew that.

Nothing to be ashamed of. I started out with a faded pumpkin orange '76 Datsun B-210. As of this posting, the original engine is secured in a garage awaiting new life in possibly a sand car or dune buggy. The rest of the car rusted or was scrapped. :)

@AlionteHakeem I have column shift and a button on the tip of shifter and when I press it it goes to 1 gear and when I press the shift button it goes up to 2 only so I have to shift gears myself up and it shifts down on its own
Yeah the eco mode on HEMI causes a vibration in the timing chain and wears the timing chain out or breaks it. Thank You very much for this video. I was just looking to buy an 09 police 5.7 Charger. I have a love/hate relationship with Dodge. My 07 5.7 dropped a valve guide into the motor . I guess it was a problem up until 09.
The Charger Pursuit and Charger R/T are two separate models. The Hemi Pursuit needs no tuning. It already has wide-open tuning engineered by the SRT group for Chrysler Fleet (as well as suspension and brake tuning). You gain absolutely ZERO power by trying to modify a Hemi Pursuit. That includes CAI, Headers, Tazers, and shorter (numerically higher) gears. The Chrysler A580 transmission is bulletproof in these cars, and still shifts faster than a human can. Quit bitching.

You can add sport mode on any charger with the tazer by zautomotive. I have basically the same car as you, and will definately be adding sport mode and paddle shifters.

Hey Russo, I have a ram with the 5.7 hemi. There's a tune out there that bypasses the "4 cylinder" mode! Also a nice tune will sharpen up your transmissions gears and how it shifts! I noticed a world of difference with the tunes
Imagine having a 14" Nissan Versa. Plastic interior, no automatic locks, Windows that you have to crank a handle to open.... Best feature on the car is cruise control.... Lol
LOL. I actually like my '07 Impreza 2.5i SE. It has virtually everything I want aside from power seats. It's a fun little cruiser that doesn't attract women nor the 5-0. My only gripes would be the shift quality of the 4EAT transmission and the frameless windows.

Its slow? this thing goes from 0 to 60 in like 5 seconds, this thing goes up to 160 MPH! and it weights like 4000 pounds, that is awesome! yeah it doesn't have a sport mode, because its already fast.ll The ECO mode that automatically turns off two cylinders, i can see that. it reduces the response time and i was wondering why there was that delay sometimes. All you gotta do though is use the handy thing on the gear shift to guess what? shift the gears!
I got a 16’ 5.7 awd it was def quiet I put a full flowmaster exhaust system , k&n and going for Diablo sport chip next.. even before exhaust done I was winning off the line with scat but it passes me less than quarter mile … awd is nice tho you can take off with a fuse . Feel like the police version would last longer than regular 2 wheel drive
Firstly, the 5 speed auto is actually better than the 8 speed in these Chargers as far as how they last hence why they put them in the police cars! My dad has a 2014 civilian V6 charger with the 8 speed and has gone through at least 1 trans replacement. I haven’t heard any issues with the police model Charger. Secondly, You have the POLICE model lol the car is going to be cheapy inside they’re cheap, good fun cars period. Thirdly, the Chrysler 200 S is not a V8 lol it’s a V6. Even the chrysler 300 S is still a V6. Lastly, idk where you get Slow out of 370 Hp and 390 TQ from the factory?! Yes it’s a big car but that’s still respectable seems how my buddy who owns a tuning shop bumped 1 of these 5.7 chargers up to 463whp & 484wtq with bolt ons, a unlocked ECM and some good tuning just saying
1 do you have a trans dipstick not from factory buy one and check fluid might be low or burnt, can cause shifting issues. 2 get best cold air intake, filters in left front fender, colder denser air. 3 irridum plugs hemi factory has copper core plugs, probably tips worn down, makes gap to large, wont fire as good. 4 what are your coil packs like what color is your fire. 5 use good synthetic oil, pd uses cheap oil, lots of idle hours so inturn you have lots of ash deposits, my first oil change i filled up 3 filters with ash. 6 they have very high temp thermostat 203' i droped to 180' hemi runs stronger. so you bought a fleet car with hard use, my front suppension and brake pads shot at 58000 miles,. my take on pursuit package chargers is most bang for the buck.

u can tune it and it’s better to mod a car than just to buy one it’s more fun that way also just get rid of the resonators and get flowmaster super 10s it’s a few hundred bucks
To add a hundred extra HP isn't hard, money wise total car an mods 12 grand, I got mine at the state auction 6 thousand, 8 grand in mods 460 hp , in happy 😊
#1, you need to reset your TCM adaptation. #2 I believe if you activate auto stick and don’t touch the shifting options, it disable the eco mode. I have eco mode disabled after cam shaft and lifter replacement via tuner. There was no gas savings running eco mode. Wait till you have to do cam shaft and lifters. #3 these cars are definitely NOT slow, they’re just heavy. #4 you want it loud put a loud system on it, pursuit models are intended to be sleepers. Make sure you replace the exhaust header bolts if you put long tubes or short tubes on it.

I’ve never had an issue with eco-boost. If I’m going to throw down, I disable traction control, turn off all air conditioning, and down shift to first. The tires can, and will, break loose on my AWD R/T Max. It will put up a fight, and usually wins. But then again, the machine is less than half of the equation. The driver is the primary factor. I plan on keeping my ‘11 for as long as I can keep it running. I prefer it’s body styling over the ‘12+. But that’s just me. Again, do us all a favor and crush your car. You may get enough out of it’s sandwich to by a Subaru. Leave the muscle cars, including the 4-door Charger, to those of us that can appreciate it.
Valve train body upgrade & tune should help with the shifting... And some have autostick on the column shifter... And newer ones have sport mode (my '20 does). My interior is fine, other than the retrofitters tore a bunch of the panel clips. 😂. These days some modding is worthwhile when SRT-whatever's are all +$40-60k. Plenty of aftermarket support, even NAG1 transmission upgrades.
Yeah I reallyyyy want a charger but no manual... when I learned how to drive it was an automatic and drove that for about a year. Been driving stick for the last few years. And it's just to good to go back to auto. You have complete control of your RPMS, and the transmission is just way more responsive.
Breaking news! Police car has quiet exhaust! Why the fuck would a squad have a quiet exhaust note? Hmmm. Maybe to be able to sneak into a burglary call or to sneak up on an assault call? This generation of Charger makes a very well rounded police car. I had a 2011 Charger R/T and that also had the 5 speed tranny too. If ya know how to drive the fuel saver and the tranny work very well together. If you think a Charger police pacage sucks then try the Ford interceptor SUV. That thing sucks worse than a $2 hooker with the clap and has blind spots a mile wide. Between an anemic V6 you have no power and with a shitty door design they are the most uncomfortable thing to get in and out of while wearing a duty belt and equipment.
I could change that up for you, but I'm not the biggest fan of manual. Especially for racing (yes I said that right) And as far as the tune set up, I'm sure you can turn eco mode off. There's some super high tech programming out there that gets into every parameter of the vehicle.
I have to add that it has to be done while the vehicle isn't moving. Also if you put the push start into the run position without starting it, then push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times slowly. That recalibrates the throttle and with me it has proved to make responsiveness of the throttle better. And I also do both sport mode and recalibrate everytime I get into to drive it.

How ca you compare a $8,000 POS to a $58,000 Camaro SS, on a performance basis? That's NUTS. The 5.7L Hemi is what it is, and was a bulk 'moderate performance sedan' motor/truck motor. You compare this to the Ford P71 Interceptor package (top speed 130-mph) and you walk-off-and-leave-it. Stay on target, or talk about 'modifed interceptors', but you can't compare apples to rocking horses and make much sense. You want to know the REAL history of the 5.7, you BETTER look how old it REALLY is...like 1958 354 DeSoto old...you MIGHT want to beg and plead for Chrysler to bring back the AWESOME 392 hemi, which was, in fact, a MONSTER that would give you 200-mph interceptors out of the factory.

Really stretching to find negatives. The only one I agree with is the exhaust. It is a Police Vehicle (not going to have nice interior and is always automatic). New Chargers have much better interiors than most other Muscle Style Cars. V6 Mustangs get 300 HP, RT Charger gets nearly 400 HP.

When I got mine I wasn't looking for creature comfort i saw potential, a good starting point. An went from there.
Im under 10k into my 14 5.7 charger enforcer and thats all leather interior, a 23 392 crate engine, and some carbon fiber
I don’t think the speed problem is the engine. I think the gearing on the police pursuit models are leaned toward high speed, not low end power.

Just turn on autostick and leave it in 5th. It’ll automatically shift through gears and it doesn’t go into eco mode.

Up to 2015, Hemi Chargers all came with the 5 speed.
Only the V6 SXT and above had the 8 speed.

I have to add that it has to be done while the vehicle isn't moving. Also if you put the push start into the run position without starting it, then push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times slowly. That recalibrates the throttle and with me it has proved to make responsiveness of the throttle better. And I also do both sport mode and recalibrate everytime I get into to drive it.

I don't understand why you still have the car if you hate the engine and transmission. I have a 2012 5.7 police package and I love it. A manual transmission will not make the car any better. Remember it is a police package, what do they need sport mode? Stop bitchin and buy another car.

You compare this to the Ford P71 Interceptor package (top speed 130-mph) and you walk-off-and-leave-it. Stay on target, or talk about 'modifed interceptors', but you can't compare apples to rocking horses and make much sense. You want to know the REAL history of the 5.7, you BETTER look how old it REALLY is...like 1958 354 DeSoto old...you MIGHT want to beg and plead for Chrysler to bring back the AWESOME 392 hemi, which was, in fact, a MONSTER that would give you 200-mph interceptors out of the factory.

Really stretching to find negatives. The only one I agree with is the exhaust. It is a Police Vehicle (not going to have nice interior and is always automatic). New Chargers have much better interiors than most other Muscle Style Cars. V6 Mustangs get 300 HP, RT Charger gets nearly 400 HP.
