I've also used dry erase markers for the same purpose. Trace over the permanent marker, let set a few seconds, then wipe off
This one is what I was gonna suggest. Super easy and works great for just about any item.
Thank you so much!!! I did this ONCE and it removed black sharpie from a vintage Polaroid camera from the 1980's!!!! You rock!!
Great tip. What I found works fast use a whiteboard marker on top of the permanent marker mark, wipe off with a rag, then following up alcohol on the rag. Sometimes you may need to do it a couple of times. If it is really old it may not all come off but it will be faded, then I would use your toothpaste soda mixture.

@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter Thanks I have been subscribed for a while now. Love all the help you give.
Patricia Connor thank you, Patricia!
Crest toothpaste and baking soda worked like a charm took almost no pressure and it came right off! Thank you!
Awesome! Be sure to subscribe
Absolutely works. I just did it to a Polaroid camera and it took the magic marker right off! Amazing!
Great!
Definitely working for my Titanic model, used sharpie for it instead of paint years ago and regretted it, now this vid actually worked
That’s awesome!!
Wow, I just did it, and it worked wonderfully. I used the eraser of a pencil 🙂. Thank you.
WOW! Alcohol and eraser worked for me. Thanks a lot. I dont have any alcohol, so I used perfume instead of alcohol.
Great!
the alcohol and a paper towel did the trick, super easy. have a few others i am trying also
Awesome!
@ will try
Came off without even needing to use the eraser, I used isopropyl alcohol 70%, toothpaste, baking soda, toothbrush and napkin for permanent marker that was on hard plastic for 12 years, God bless you mate thanks for the helpful advice 👍 will be using this method for similar situations envolving hard plastics and permanent marker

Thanks for the informative video. I like that you don't beat around the bush to try to stretch out the time. Short and sweet's the way to go, with video content.
Thanks. I try but am not always successful.
It’s 8 minutes long he could’ve said mix baking soda and tooth paste thanks for watching
I put rubbing alcohol on a spare cheap electric toothbrush and brush away, it usualy does work. 💁🏻♂️
Ok thx
Teacher here- hair spray works great but my go to is to write over it with Expo marker and erase. The issue sometimes is that the plastic will turn the color of the marker being removed. Then I use alcohol on a cotton ball and usually that helps.
I admire your resourcefulness! And the quality of your videos are amazing!!!! Thank you for your kindness! Have a wonderful day..
Thanks Lois. That means a lot to me and helps keep me going. 😃
Done did it! Thanks for the tip!
@@Greenman247 yay!
Works great thank you. I bought a vintage Sony disc player and it had the original person name on it used your method and it worked like a charm
Awesome!
thank you - i used the eraser method to get sharpie marker off of an iphone the back side, worked easily
Nice! 👍
Thank you it worked so well ❤️
@@carminam.romero7369 great!
The eraser / alcohol combo worked on my alarm clock just now!
Glad to help!!
Thank you, I accidentally drew a circle on my clear phone case and it wouldn’t come of until I saw this video. L
great!
Same lol
How do you accidentally grab and marker and draw a circle lmao
Same here
I just did it with tooth paste 😊 Thank you!
Great!
Thank you! This saved me so much time.
Glad to hear it! Be sure to subscribe
Tried the eraser but it is a video game and has a rough surface, the toothpaste and worked great, finished with a magic eraser. Thank you for the tip.
happy to hear!
Only had an eraser on hand, worked perfectly thanks
Great!
Yoooo thanks !!! That eraser trick worked perfectly
Great!
thank you for your help. but the most important question- WHAT ARE THE TOYS IN THE BACKGROUND????? I know I played with these as a kid!
Thanks. Those are various masters of the universe figures. I actually have a bunch of masters of the universe toys for sale now in my eBay store, which is linked to on my main page.
Actually alchohol is the main ingredient in sharpies thus when you wipe the sharpie ink with rubbing alcohol, you dilute the sharpies ink and you can wipe it off
Your channel grew so fast. I think I subscribed when you were at double digits. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I appreciate you staying around!
Thanks
Sure thing
Thanks so much! I can now remove permanent marker from my lego :)

Question what alternate on baking soda if I didn't have it. Any alternative for this guide toothpaste?
Not that I know of
When cleaning with water; use demineralized water. It wont conduct electricity and never hurt your electronics. Besides leaving no stains since its pure
Thanks for the tip
Does work
Thanks for the tip. I never thought about using baking soda & tooth paste to clean marker off of plastic. I wonder if it would work if the plastic was discolored.
I have another method for discolored plastic using a Saloncare #40 product I hope to show one day!
Thanks. It worked great

Such a great video, Dominac! Good comments below, as well. Certainly will try.
Thanks! I appreciate it!
it worked, thank you.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the tips! I Also had success with Lysol and Magic eraser but sometimes the magic eraser could scuff the surface
Good point on the magic eraser.
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter thanks for the tip, I tried it out and it worked pretty well. I didn't have any baking soda, so I just used toothpaste on its own.
I tried using some other methods and I found that using lotion based insect repellent worked even faster, with less elbow grease. I just put a dab of it on the device and gently scrubbed with the toothbrush. Full disclosure, it was the same toothbrush that had the toothpaste on it. So I don't know if it was the insect repellent lotion on its own or if it was the combination of the repellent and the toothpaste.
What I used:
- Ultrathon insect repellent lotion (34.34% DEET)
- Colgate Cavity Protection (0.76% Sodium Monofluorophosphate (0.15% w/v fluoride ion))
I just had very good luck with the spray cleaner LA's Totally Awesome from the local dollar store. My sister suggested it. That and a plastic brush to agitate it worked very well.
Nice video. Does this wrok on old ink / markers stains in rubber ?
You can also put hand sanitizer to take it off.
Didn’t work on this item though
Thank you! Love your tips, enjoy all your videos
Thank you for the support!
I wondered if it would work with highlighters
It should!
I have a Werner 6 ft orange colored ladder that has had permanent marker on it for 10 years. Tried 91% isopropyl alcohol with magic eraser, tried. The toothpaste/ baking soda paste with both the pink eraser as well as dry eraser and scrubbing pad, no go. Also just tried using graffiti remover gel and spray and so far it's faded but it will not come all the way off. Any other ideas other than getting out the sandpaper?
Pink eraser, who would have guessed it!? Thanks for this!
A super star entertainer autographed my car fender with a felt tip marker that faded away even though the car was stored away. Is there a method to bring out the autograph??? Thanks!
actually a good combo for teeth stains too! 💪
Omg thank you so much! I've tried alcohol pads and it did not work on some of them and I used my son's poop shaped eraser(I didn't have normal erasers) and it's all gone!! I quess any erasers would work.
Glad that it helped. Please subscribe. Thank you
So I used the toothpaste with baking soda on permanent marker on plastic, that my daughter got from dumpster diving & it worked like magic 🪄!!!
👍🏼👍🏼
Do you have any sugestions to remove permanet markers from price tags ?
No because it saturates the paper unfortunately
Prime time treasure hunter I am a big fan of u and this life hack actually works and pls like
Thanks
Very good tip Dom. Will definitely try this one.
Thanks Karen. It works very well.
Thank you! I am donating old trophies that I wrote in the bottom of, and this helped make them reusable!
Awesome! Please subscribe
will that take paint off?
Not at all
It works, wow.
Awesome
Will this work on jelly shoes?
Not sure
Best solution from all! It worked! Thank you!
Thank you. Eraser worked
Perfect
Thanks!
Great advice, thank you. And yes the comment below who says dry erase markers, yes! Works great.
Depends on the surface but yes it’s another option
Thanks for the tip!
Great tip. Any advice on permanent marker on canvas? I have a JanSport Crimson Tide backpack in great condition, but they wrote the persons name on the inside lining, so when you open it up, it's the 1st thing you see. I thought about getting a similar colored iron-on patch to cover it up. But, that's not original to the backpack.
Try expo markers. You rub it on the ink and then it wipes off
@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter Thanks, will try it.
Nail polish remover takes sharpie off of clothes. Pour it on the sharpie, rub with a white washcloth, if needed do this a few times, then rinse (so the nail polish remover doesn't weaken cloth fibers) then wash. Washing the fabric will get it out even if the sharpie isn't all gone with the nail polish remover. Check that it's gone before drying it in a dryer - that will set any stain and make it harder to remove. Hope this helps!
You saved my life, awesome video!
Would you also recommend nail polish remover?
Yes, that is worth a try too
I did
IT WORKED ! THANKS PRIME TIME TREASURE HUNTER
Thanks!
Great video thank you!!
No probs!
The edit was various obvious how long in between did it take to remove the indelible marker ? Thank you
It wasn’t meant to be hidden. It takes a few minutes.
I typically use some lighter fluid on a paper towel. Seems to work for me with little effort.
Dose this work on a floaty
thank you so much this helped me get marker off my desk
How about baking soda and peroxide toothpaste?
Not sure
Awesome tip. thanks
Earser works wonders👍
Acetone, nail polish remover and headlights cleaner it works much much better, try it.
Nah. Don’t want to work with those kind of chemicals if I can avoid it but thanks.
This is great! I have a tupperware veggie tray that I need to get someone's name and initials off with. I am going to try this!
Good video i like it. But in my opinion you can mask the rest with painters tape leave the rectangle out and spray paint it white. Much easier and faster
True, but I like to keep the original finish
I didn’t work for me but thanks for your help
Sorry!
You could also use White Rain Hair Spray - in the pump bottle. Something in the spray dissolves the permanent marker in seconds! 👍
Does this work on colored plastics? I have a Makita tool (teal color) with a sharpie of my name.
Wow this help very well
Thanks! Please subscribe if you like the content.
Informative video, Thank you for your time.
Thanks for watching!
Omg thank you sooo much this actually worked thank you so much I’m subscribing now thxs
Awesome. Thanks!
Scribble through the existing black marker with a new black marker. Wipe off with a paper towel. Presto. No more black marker initials. I use a typical Sharpie black marker to remove Sharpie black marker ink and not a dry erase marker and it works 100% of the time. How do I know? Because I’ve done this practice for over 20 years.
No, it has to be a dry erase marker and it does not always work so cleanly. It’s best on glossy plastic.
kind of good
Will this work on legos?
Yes
ty so much!!!
Sure thing. Please subscribe
Helped me a year later!
Great!
My little bro drew on my jp rare bull t rex it would cost a fortune to fix thanks
It worked!!!
It workkssss!! Thank youuuuu
Great!
I'm trying to remove permanent black marker from the bottom of the foot of a hard plastic troll doll. I've tried everything but it's not coming off.
Did you try this?
The eraser is the best
It does rock. Lol
You should make more videos like this. Keep up the good work!
Teo ForNow will do. Thanks!
Primetime Superman!!! 🤣🤣🤣 great tips, thanks for sharing 😍
Thanks as always!
Great tip. You are awesome resource for resellers.
If you use toothpaste with hydrogen peroxide , you add the extra bleaching power of the hydrogen peroxide. Personally, I start with magic eraser.
Great tip! Thanks!
I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THIS!!!!!!! Thank you!!! Just Thank you!!
My pleasure! Glad it helped!!!
That's a lot of work. All you really need is a Magic Eraser and it would have come off a lot easier.
The point of this video though was for a simple homemade solution. Was not a lot of work. Only looks like that when breaking down the steps for video purposes. Goes much faster in real life.
Belive it or not only the eraser on it's own works he is not a clickbaiter
Someone said I was click bating? lol.
Essential Oils will take stubborn sharpie off plastics and leave a good smell.
